Come stay at the “Riverhouse 1” on the peaceful Etowah River in the Northeast Georgia Mountains, near historic Dahlonega, the first gold rush town in the USA. The house is located in a private gated community with just three homes...very private.
Riverhouse is in a great location. The Dahlonega Square is just 7 miles away. Experience the Gold Museum, Holly Theater, fine dining, and shopping all within walking distance in town. If coming for a special occasion, Riverhouse is just 6.5 miles from Monteluce Vineyards and Winery and 10 miles to Waters Mill Wedding Venue.
The home has three bedrooms each with private baths. Both guest bedrooms have two double beds in them. Master bedroom has a king bed and private jetted jacuzzi bath and shower. The loft has a private full bath with 2 twin beds. A total of 4 ½ baths. The large open living room has a wood burning fireplace and a view of the river just 50 feet away. A fully stocked kitchen is off the living room and catering of meals available upon request. Just get in the car and “come on”, we’ll do the rest!
The Etowah River is one of Northeast Georgia’s best kept secrets! The mountain laurel and rhododendrom blooming in spring and early summer is breathtaking. The water is clean and clear and comes out of the Chattahoochee National Forest. The house is 50 feet off the river and the sounds of the river can be heard from inside the home, screen porch and generous deck. Each bedroom has a deck and the master bedroom opens to the main deck.
The trees are oak, hickory, poplar sourwood and white pine which gives a burst or fall colors that sourround the home. The river is shallow in front of the home and is great for “wet” fun or just sitting in the river in a lawn chair to enjoy your favorite cocktail. It is also a great place for children to play and explore. The deer and wild turkey “live” in the yard and eat the landscaping right up to the house. Local birds and squirrels populate the trees.
Riverhouse is the perfect balance of great proximity to Dahlonega attractions and experiencing the sounds and sights of nature! Come on and enjoy the tranquility of the Etowah Riverhouse!

Half the girls arrived on Thursday to start the celebration for Debbie's Birthday. Denyse arrived on Friday and we went to Monteluce for a wine tour and tasting. We had lunch at the Oar House...it was awesome! Saturday we were picked up by Trudy at Crown Mountain Limo and had lunch and wine tasting at Wolf Mountain Vineyards. Then, Cavender Creek Winery and Frogtown Cellars for wine tastings. Finally, to Dahlonega Square for shopping and dinner at Corkscrew Cafe.
Enjoyed Dahlonega and this awesome home! Thank you!!
We arrived Halloween night for a friend´s wedding weekend and used the written directions to find the house. We turned around a couple times because we couldn't see the house number in the dark, but it is the last house on the right down the very steep driveway. It was beyond beautiful. Everything was very clean. We had the privilege of staying the master suite which was enormous. It has a walk in closet, a huge bathroom with tons of mirrors, a jet tub, and the most incredible shower you`ll ever have. It overlooks the river and the fall foliage was beautiful. there is a bon fire area which is great and a tree house hot tub a short walk away. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We had a shortage of towels but we should have brought some of our own. It was difficult to maneuver in and out of the driveway with multiple cars because the turn around area near the house is a bit small. We figured it out though. It would have been convenient to have more than 2 keys as well because we had more than one group in and out of the house all weekend. But seriously none of that was even a problem because the house was so awesome. I would absolutely love to stay here again. Can I go this weekend? :-) We loved walking around downtown Dahlonega enjoying the restaurants and shops. I will be day dreaming and raving about this place for years.
My family and I spent 4 days at this beautiful home to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday and we had a wonderful time! The house is comfortable; we loved the hot tub and fire pit, and the little extras such as the grill and the spacious master suite made our vacation complete. Next time, we're going to try kayaking down the river. All of us would highly recommend this special vacation spot!
Our stay at the cabin was perfect. We were making a college visit to North Georgia College with our son and his friend. We were convenient to both the college and the Baseball Stadium. The cabin was large enough for both families to spread out and have some privacy. The proximity to the college was very convenient. We loved the kitchen which was well equipped. The bedrooms and loft were spacious and the entire house was comfortable and well-decorated. We had no complaints about the accomodations. It was a fun and relaxing time for all of us. We look forward to staying there again, only next time we hope our stay can be longer.
The pictures don't do the property justice. It was much nicer than we expected and well worth the money.
