This is a Traditional New England Island Cabin located on Cow Island in beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. The nearest towns are Wolfeboro, New Hampshire (America's oldest resort town) and Tuftonboro, New Hampshire. The lively towns of Laconia and Meredith (with movie theaters and arcades) are about twenty minutes by boat (longer by car). Nearest launch - Nineteen Mile Bay in Tuftonboro.
Our cabin has all the charm of the past with all amenities you need for a wonderful holiday on the water. It is family oriented (with requisite rocking chairs) and very quiet. Oh, you'll probably hear loons at night from the wildlife sanctuary just across from the cabin but they are very polite. The decks face the sunset and our private dock. Very safe swimming off the dock and point (a tiny sand beach).
This is one of the few rentals on the island - yes, it is on an island with no car access - in midst of private homes. The camp is a fully equipped log cabin. It has docking for two boats and large decks on two sides. At present there is a single bathroom with shower, toilet facilities; kitchen with refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, cooking and eating utensils; electric power, phone (no TV!); wood stove; outside Texas smoker barbecue and separate fire pit (bring marshmallows).
Downstairs is the master bedroom (two single beds) with shower. Upstairs there is a sleeping loft with two regular beds and two scandinavian style built-in beds (kid friendly). The camp has 144 feet of water front but only a tiny amount of beach. The lake, if you didn't know it, is super clear and it's water is drinkable.
This is New England's most beautiful area - the nation's most beautiful lake. The movies "On Golden Pond" and "What About Bob?" were filmed here. The island is large (500+ acres), with miles of hiking paths. Come for a visit... leave cares behind.
