Long distance mountain views from the deck, fireflies dancing on warm June nights and owls singing you to sleep, make for a most relaxing setting. Available all year round so you can view New England's glorious Fall colors or cuddle by the fire while snowflakes gently fall. A private, romantic retreat for two, completely furnished. Woodstock and the surrounding areas offer all there is to enjoy in Vermont from fine dining and museums to a myriad of outdoor activities.

Killington skiing, Hanover, NH and Dartmouth College, plus Upper Valley cultural events are all within a 40 minute drive.

The perfect retreat

  • 5 of 5
Spent three wonderful nights at the cabin in July and can't say enough great things. The pictures are true to life, but still don't do it justice. The owner has thoughtful touches throughout the cabin and has compiled quite of a bit of area information as a resource for guests.

The kitchen has everything you would ever need and a testament to this is the fact that we had three breakfasts and three dinners at the cabin. We simply didn't want to leave and nowhere else would have the tremendous mountain views of our own table or deck.

The location is great for exploring the area and is very close to Woodstock, yet perfectly secluded. We didn't see another soul near the cabin.

The bed and bedroom were comfy and the cool evenings were great for sleeping with the windows open. The bathroom was nicely appointed. The living areas were ample and the furniture was perfect.

If you have stumbled upon this cabin, do yourself a favor and book it.

Owner's Response: "Sleeping with the windows open" is delightful as the Cabin is located near the top of a hill with valley breezes gently cooling it. This year we have added an air conditioner in the bedroom area for those rare nights when the Summer weather needs some extra cooling. Either way - you will rest comfortably in the peace and quiet of the Cabin. A visit to the Cabin is the best way to leave everyday stresses behind. Come see for yourselves.

Sweet Honeymoon

  • 5 of 5
Everyone here has had such glowing reviews, I was expecting greatness. The truth exceeded my expectations and the written description of the cabin. The reviews were very important in making the decision to honeymoon here.
We arrived on our wedding night. Being past sunset, the warmly-lit brown-and-white cabin was a welcome sight. It was like walking into a Thomas Kincade painting! The lights left on for us and the music that greeted us made us fall in love with the place. We both LOVE music, and that easy listening channel never changed during our stay. Being so fully and uniformly decorated made it truly feel like home in no time. The very private setting made an ideal location for a honeymoon. All old-fashioned charm, with all the modern conveniences tastefully included. We couldn't have found a better cabin in the woods to fulfill our honeymoon dream!
We enjoyed visiting the Vermont Spot Country Store and the Cabot Cheese store at Quechee Gorge Village, and HIGHLY recommend the glass-blowing and super-savory food at the Simon Pearce house in Quechee. Our final evening we again enjoyed very flavorful Caribbean cuisine at Meleza in downtown Woodstock. Woodstock is a charming old town and we drifted from shop to shop, finding both necessities and gifts.
We're not sure when, but we definitely would like to return someday, and we'll highly recommend the lovely little cabin to others. Thank you, Sue!

Owner's Response: Guests young and old have fallen in love with the privacy, peacefulness and convenient location of the Cabin. It is a wonderful location for a private get-away but is within minutes to Woodstock and all that Vermont and the Upper Valley have to offer. Come visit - we would love to introduce you to this little bit of heaven.

Storybook Setting

  • 5 of 5
We spent a long weekend at this enchanted cabin celebrating our wedding anniversary. Everything about it was perfect. From the moment we pulled up I knew our stay was going to be special. You feel as though you literally walked into a storybook. I kept expecting Goldilocks to peep her head out. The cabin is so well decorated and every space so well thought out that I couldn't imagine it being any better. I've never felt more comfortable and at peace in someone else's home. The king bed and it's sheets are luxurious and oh so comfortable. The stained glass windows are beautiful and the corner chair begs for someone to read in it. The cupboards are stocked with everything from tea and honey to garbage bags and cling wrap. The refrigerator was full of coffee, both regular and decaf. The bathroom was even stocked with all the toiletries you can imagine. I've never rented a place that had EVERYTHING one needed for vacation. You only need to bring yourself.
We enjoyed our stay so much that I am bringing my daughter back up in September. Don't look for another rental, you've found perfection right here.

This is JUST What We Needed!

  • 5 of 5
I wish I could be clever and write something different than the other reviews listed - but all I can say is DITTO! The cabin is enchanting. We went for a few days of R&R and we got just that!

Since we arrived at approximately 4:00pm on a Sunday and we had been driving a few hours, we decided to go into town and pick up some things to cook in the adorable kitchen. (To be honest, I also wanted to eat in the very warm and inviting dining room!)
We went to the Butcher Shop and picked up a prepared chicken pie along with some other goodies and settled in for the evening. It was perfect!
Just a note for others going to visit. We did go out for two nights for dinner. The Red Clover Inn in Mendon and Simon Pearce in Quiche were both excellent and I highly recommend them if you choose to leave the cozy cottage.
Thank you Sue for making us feel right at home and giving us the opportunity to stay at your cottage and get the best rest we have had in months!

Owner's Response: There is so much to do in Vermont in the Winter. Of course there is skiing, both downhill and cross country. Even if you do not have your own equipment there are outfitters in the area who will be happy to rent whatever you need. In addition you can: snowshoe, take long walks, skate (indoors and out), snowmobile, swim at an amazing aquatic center, choose a spa, even go sledding on a local sledding slope. If you are not inclined to do anything but read, relax and catch up on your sleep - the Cabin is the perfect place to be. Let us know when you would like to come !

Perfectlly Exceeded Expectations!

  • 5 of 5
My fiance and I were looking for a post-holiday getaway, free from distractions and noise, where we could spend quality time together doing something, or nothing at all.

Other reviews of this cabin were spot-on. It was perfect! In fact, the photos did not do the cabin justice. It is utterly delightful, with so many neat details. Everything you need is provided, simply bring your favorite foods and beverages!

I drove by the cabin the first time, taking a detour on a what I thought was the road/path, because it looked too good and big to be our destination. When we arrived, the lights were on, there was a note greeting us, and lovely flowers in a vase, with music playing. C'mon! Who does that? Sue does! That's who! She is a wonderful host and extremely helpful in answering questions about the area, and just making sure your stay is as pleasant as possible.

I can write a novel about our stay, explaining all the great points: Comfortable bed, cozy gas fireplace, enchanting dining room, comfortable couches, fun kitchen, the hospitality, the bath robes, the quiet, the views......but I won't. What I will do is say this: We were so smitten with our stay that we are going to make this an annual post-holiday tradition.

It was such a pleasant stay that I nearly forget that it pored rain the entire Saturday of our weekend stay, and we didn't care one single bit!

Tips: Ice skating at the arena...fun, fun, fun. Butcher in town - unbelievable meat! Breakfast/brunch/lunch - Mountain Creamery...Insanely good pies and ice cream, made fresh by them!

Oh, a good 4x4 during the snow season, is solid advice.

Owner's Response: The "Winter Note" in the Cabin information is important as you never know what kind of weather you are going to get in Vermont in the Winter. "All-wheel or 4-wheel drive with good tires" - highly recommended and will save you an immense amount of aggravation. A visit to the Cabin is worth the trip. The road and driveway are plowed, but the weather we can not predict or control.

Hidden Treasure

  • 5 of 5
Off the beaten path, but certainly not forgotten, this cabin provided a wonderful and relaxing getaway for me and my husband. We travel to Vermont several times per year to visit family, and each time we stay at a new location. Our stay at this cabin has risen to the top of our list!

Definitely a "nesting" place where you can sit back, relax, breathe, and re-center your soul. Every need was anticipated and amply sated; we literally would only need toothbrushes and a change of clothing!

We would love to visit again, during a different season, to experience more of the outdoor amenities of the property. The winter weekend was lovely, now we need to give spring, summer or fall a "look-see".

Thank you for a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable time!

Owner's Response: The Cabin could not have more wonderful and appreciative guests. If we could only control the weather...... Even so, getting away from your everyday routine is relaxing and refreshing, and the Cabin offers a perfect getaway for a day of sleeping in, reading and retreating to a place we rarely allow ourselves to go. Walks from the Cabin are a treat to so many . Come find out for yourselves.
