Our Hickory Hideaway Cabin was just finished in November 2010 and is not only luxurious and comfy, but is loaded with amenities. Located in between Banner Elk and Newland, the cabin is close to all area attractions has everything you could need for your mountain vacation!
The floor plan features an open kitchen, dining and living room area on the main level with a “master” bedroom on either side. The kitchen is fully loaded with modern appliances, granite countertops, cookware, glassware, etc. There is a large dining table to enjoy family-style meals or group games (some of these are provided as well)! The living area is cozy with a leather sofa, two reclining chairs, and a flat screen satellite TV all surrounding a fantastic stacked stone fireplace.
There are two deluxe master bedrooms with king size beds on either side of the living area. One of the bathrooms has a dual-headed shower with beautiful genuine rock walls! The other has an old fashioned claw foot tub with hand held shower head. Walk up the stairs to the loft overlooking the living room that has two queen beds and a set of bunks…perfect for the kids in your group, no matter what their age!
Down the stairs, the entertainment really begins. The family room in this log cabin has a regulation size pool table, 55” flat screen satellite TV, foosball table, gas stone fireplace (yes, it has 2 fireplaces!), a queen-sized sleeper sofa, full bathroom and wet bar. The large 6-person hot tub is located outside the family room on the lower deck as is the charcoal grill. The elevation is about 4000 feet at the cabin and Mother Nature keeps the temperatures cool all summer.
As if that isn’t enough, there are plenty of things for you to explore outside the cabin on this 12 acre plot. There are a few trails on the property. One is a shorter trail that leads through some blueberry bushes that, when in season, are a delicious treat during a relaxing walk. There is another trail, a bit more strenuous, that leads down to the head of the Toe River. It’s a nice hike that allows one to enjoy the pristine beauty of the woods. When there is snow on the ground, there is plenty of room for building a snowman, sledding or snowshoeing as well.
Centrally located in the region, this North Carolina mountain cabin rental is about 8 1/2 miles from the ski slopes on Sugar Mountain and 12 miles to Ski Beech. The location is less than 10 miles to Grandfather Mountain, Blue Ridge Parkway, Linville Falls and Sugar Mountain Golf Course. The new YMCA is also nearby. The home's location on Hickory Nut Gap Road is on the NC Scenic Bicycle Route. This location is great for those in training or just enjoying road or mountain biking. Many other attractions and activities are nearby such as a public swimming pool less than 2 miles away in Newland. Tennis is available nearby on Hickory Nut Gap Road as are a cushioned track and pool available for public use at Lees McRae College.
