I am an Orthopedic Surgeon living in Hattiesburg, Ms with my wife Marcia and kids Hayes 18, and Haley 17. I am the Team Physician for the University of Southern Mississippi, but still root for the Ole Miss Rebels and attend games when I can.
My wife and I met at Ole Miss and have both always loved the university and the town. When an opprtunity presented itself to buy a place in Oxford, we jumped at the chance.
Although we don't get there as often as we would like, we still go up 3-4 times a year and enjoy both ballgame and non-sports weekends. We love shopping the Square, eating at all of the wonderful restaurants and the listening to the emerging music scene in Oxford. We also like to just stroll campus and jog the historic district or just relax with a glass of wine on the porch to some music. We find Oxford to be a relaxing respite from the busy day-to-day and consider it our home away from home.
Its really just the perfect location in Oxford. its only a minutes walk to everything we could possibly want to do at the square, yet its on a quiet street with very little noise or traffic.
Game weekends are a breeze. we just stroll to The Grove in about 5-10 minutes, enjoy the tail-gating and the game, and then stroll home, avoiding the traffic jams and parking. If we dont feel like going out to eat we just cut on some music, get a glass of wine and grill at the house. After dinner we may stroll up to the coffee shop or ice cream parlor for dessert or browse the famous Square Bookstore.
