Stunning oceanfront view, each morning you can enjoy the amazing sunrise over the pristine Atlantic Ocean. The apartment has been recently painted and entirely refurnished in 2011. In addition to the natural beauty this apartment also has all the comfort and amenities of home. Both bedrooms and the living room have high definition TVs, and there is broadbrand internet anywhere in the apartment with the secure WiFi, we also have telephone service. You can also enjoy two restaurants, one located next to the pool, a beachside tiki bar, a coffee stand in the lobby, a full service beauty parlor, and a souvenir shop, all located downstairs. Valet parking service is available 24 hours a day.
We had 5 adults and an 11 month old. The floor to ceiling windows give way to massive, sea-green color views of the ocean. We loved the look of the place. The floors are all title. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and cups, but we did need to purchase dish soap, detergent and salt and pepper. Nice countertops. We brought olive oil, plastic containers, bags and wrap. The mattresses were comfortable, as were the sheets - good quality. The bathrooms were okay; nothing was bothersome. The amount of beach towels, bath towels, dish towels, and washcloths was tremendous - we loved having so much. We did not do any laundry. We did not hear any neighbors.
Be careful with the toilets and they are sensitive. The only negative is that the second bedroom's air conditioner made a loud clunk when it turned on and off, waking me up 1-3 times per night. It only bothered me, and I'm not a necessarily light sleeper. I'm not sure how to fix it. Suggestion: bring earplugs and a sound machine. The temp in the condo was easy to control; it felt great.
The Ocean Manor was very busy which was good for the overall feeling. It's not a 5-star, but a good 3/4-star. Nothing wrong, just not the Ritz. The pool was very nice and the beach was clean. You could walk for a good hour if not more either way, so morning beach walks are great here. It was never a problem getting chairs, food or drinks. Beach chairs are $5 and umbrellas are $10. We made good use with a chair or two and then laying on beach towels. We also rented a crib and high-chair and put the crib in the closet which made a great place for him to nap and sleep in.
The dinning table is huge with lots of chairs, including 2 bar chairs. The couch and 2 side chairs were very roomy. The TVs were perfect for movies. I also liked the big beachy decor, including the large colorful paintings. As already mentioned, the sheets and bedding were very nice.
It was super convenient to have WinnDixie across the street with a Redbox for movie rental. It takes you 20 minutes to walk to the Pier of Ft. Lauderdale by the Sea where there are good restaurants and ice cream parlors. We enjoyed Arubas (it's busy with live music so good early around 6). We also went to Coconuts which is closer to Las Olas Blvd and had a great apps and drinks at the bar with oysters and then sat outside for dinner by the yachts.
The condo husband-wife managers were super friendly, professional, and ensured that we had a good place to stay.
My friends and I rented this condo unit for our spring break in March, and it was awesome! The unit was very clean when we arrived. Everything was well furnished - the kitchen was fully equipped with a panini maker and a blender! The bedrooms are spacious and there is definitely room to comfortably sleep 8. The ocean views from the unit are outstanding, and we spent a few relaxing evenings watching the sun set from the balcony. The hotel itself is in a great location - about a 2 minute walk to Winn-Dixie, McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, and a delicious Italian pizzeria. The owners are super nice -- great place for a fun vacation!!!
For an expensive condo in exclusive Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, we expected a touch of luxury. Not so. The building is tired, old and in dire need of a cosmetic update; the elevators, often only 2 out of 3 working; corridor carpeting unclean; wall decor vintage, dark and gloomy; unskilled repair work throughout.
We rented this condo in good faith, based on the HomeAway description and 5 star reviews which met all our requirements: beach front, balcony, ensuite washer and dryer, 2 bedrooms with bathrooms, queen size beds in second bedroom and CLEAN. Sadly, not all of this was accurate.
- No washer and dryer ensuite resulting in added expense and lost vacation time spent at laundromat. Onsite laundry, located in the bowels of the building, questionable safety and cleanliness.
- Unit open concept living area - three different colours of floor tiles.
- Decor and comfort of furniture mediocre.
- Balcony enclosed - half concrete wall and half sliding windows - unable to view beach or ocean unless standing/ or high chairs. Air conditioning system loud, two huge turbine fans located below balcony muted the sounds of the ocean, made conversations and sleeping difficult; kept windows closed.
- No sink plugs in master ensuite – bought them.
- Second bedroom - air conditioning loud and turns off with a loud clunking sound; 2 double beds, not queen size as advertised; entertainment stand substituted for chest of drawers; ensuite small and disgusting - no vanity - possibly original 1957 tub, shower doors and taps - large scratches in porcelain - mould on caulking around tub and shower door sealant - splattered paint on the wall and floor tiles. Plumber called to fix shower head, taps on the sink and tub drainage.
- Wall to wall "wrinkled" draperies throughout.
- Unit unequipped for extended stay - no vacuum, floor mops, sufficient kitchenware, etc.
- Unit and building requires professional cleaning.
- Cost to rent beach chairs and umbrellas on beach.
Positive points - spacious, on beach, clean heated pool, tasty food at Tiki bar, coffee bar, 3 HD TV's, internet, close to grocery store, pharmacy and some restaurants. 20 minute walk to the hub of entertainment for the area. Renovated kitchenette with new appliances, cupboards and counters.
Unduly critical? "Unsolicited" conversations with 3 others – won’t return for similar reasons as listed above. Hard to believe glowing reviews on the site - one on White Pages echoes our sentiments.
My daughter and I go to Florida quite often. We are from Michigan and she is getting married at Ocean Manor. We found this listing on VRBO and I thought it looked nice so we booked it for the end of June. It is beautiful! Not only do you wake up to an ocean view every morning the condo itself is amazing! We did not want to leave. I was so impressed that I have booked the exact same one for when my daughter gets married on 11-11-11! I can't wait for the wedding and the opportunity to stay in this gorgeous room once again!
We had a 3 generation family reunion (toddlers through grandparents). This place is exactly how it is shown in the pictures. nice, clean, beautiful view, comfortable, and close to everything. Good price and nicely kept condo. The tiki bar downstairs is a nice plus, as was the coffee shop. Having small kids, we couldn't have escaped to the bar if it wasn't on the hotel property itself. The property owners are also very helpful.
The pictures of the condo are accurate. This condo was perfectly clean. All the rooms with the exception of the bathrooms have been remodeled. All the furniture, household items and appliances were brand new. It was like walking into a new home. Waking up each morning to the ocean view and sound of the waves was incredible. The location of the condo is definitely the best. It is in the corner facing both the ocean and the pool. With the corner windows (windows on two walls that meet at the corner) you can see EVERYTHING! The sun rises directly out front of the balcony. The balcony provided a nice extension of the living space. You are well supplied with bath towels and beach towels. Some cleaning supplies were provided, we purchased soap for dishes and the dishwasher and left them behind for the next vacationers. It was great to have provisions such as napkins, toilet paper, trash bags, and some cleaning supplies available when we arrived. It was nice to have a case of bottled water provided in the condo. Wireless is available in the condo and also Ocean Manor has free wi-fi in the lobby as well. You can walk to the Winn Dixie grocery store for food as well as a selection of domestic wine and some beer. Dunkin Donuts and McDonald's were very close also. It was great for a quick stop for kids on the go WINGS souvenirs, also provided access for those last minute beach items. CVS and Walgreen's are also close by. The pier is about a mile and a long walk but a nice one. The area is great for running or walking on the beach or on Galt Ocean drive. There are numerous restaurant options close by. TokyoBlue (lobby) had daily specials. We also utilized the Water Taxi that operates from about 10 AM to 11 PM. It is about a 10 - 15 minute walk to stop 1A. It was a fun way to explore Fort Lauderdale. You can get on and off at any of the 12 stops. It gives you many options for dining and shopping. You are able to see some of the spectacular homes, boats and yachts in the area. Call ahead to determine when the taxi will be servicing the various locations. The high school and college kids thought this was an awesome vacation with awesome accommodations.
Our apartment is located in the Ocean Manor Hotel and Resort, which is itself on the prestigious Galt Ocean Drive. Staying here you will have everything nearby, within walking distance is a supermarket, and numerous shops. There are also many different bars, nightclubs, and restaurants for every taste that you can imagine nearby.
Other Activities: Shopping, Health/Beauty Spa.
