'Watersong,' a stunning waterfront Alpine Log, three-level home, built by one of the West's most renowned architects, is one of the loveliest on the incomparable Flathead Lake.
The floor-to-ceiling windows spanning the front of the home offer breathtaking views of Flathead Lake and Mission Mountains, with an even more panoramic view from the upper outdoor deck and large covered boat dock.
With lake and forest views from virtually every room in the house, you will experience the tranquility of lake living in a luxurious, upscale log-home setting: The best of the outdoors, with the comforts of home.
The Great Room truly is magnificent. It boasts soaring 30' ceilings with an equally tall rock fireplace on which 'Teddy,' a huge trophy elk, with a 6' antler span, lovingly guards his guests, below.
The kids will delight in the 170 feet of lakefront, where they may cook s'mores and hotdogs on the beach fire pit, then enjoy their feast on two adjoining picnic tables and benches.
After a barbeque on the upper home deck, adults may lounge in Adirondack chairs, on the expansive covered boat dock, and enjoy the peacefulness of Dewey's Cove, with its more gentle water and added privacy. The upper deck has a balcony, so small children should be closely watched.
Fully furnished, the home features a gourmet kitchen, complete with Sub-Zero refrigerator, travertine marble countertops, gas range with two ovens, dishwasher, disposal and other amenities consistent with a higher-end home.
The master bedroom offers a California king bed, walk-in closet, two dressers and an entertainment center/TV. The expansive master bathroom features a Jacuzzi bath with a full view of the lake, a private tiled shower, a vanity counter and two sinks.
The downstairs master bedroom, with walk-in closet, is a horse-lover's dream, with the equestrian motif expanding into a full bathroom that features a separate vanity area.
Another downstairs bedroom, with a pull-down Murphy bed, has built-in cabinetry, complete with a desk that is ideal for those who have some office work to complete. This office work, however, comes with a gorgeous lake view, making it more pleasure than work.
The home also has two twin sleigh beds downstairs, in addition to a set of bunk beds with a pull-out trundle in the loft. The loft also features a small library. The loft has a balcony, so small children should not use this area.
The home has numerous amenities, including a laundry room with a washer/dryer, wireless Internet service, a land line, , books, two TVs for DVDs and videos, and much more.
The guest house, which is rented separately for those who have more than eight people in the main house, is beautifully furnished in tasteful cabin décor, has a kitchen with dishes and cooking supplies, full bathroom, and sleeps four, with a queen bed, a pull-out couch that sleeps one, plus a roll-out single bed. The guest house is only rented in conjunction with rental of the main home. It is not rented by itself.
Guests in the main home have the option of renting the guest house for additional accommodations. If they do not choose to do so, however, the guest house will not be rented during their stay at Watersong.
A private drive, guarded by two 20' totem bears, leads to the home, to which you will want to return every year.
Because this is a luxury home; and, although the main home sleeps 11 comfortably and the guest house 4, the owners ask that NO MORE THAN EIGHT OVERNIGHT GUESTS SLEEP IN THE MAIN HOUSE, three in the guest house, and no more than 11 people be on the entire property at one time, unless a written exception is provided by the owners.
This is a high-end home, owned by a family, so FOR GUESTS WHO WANT A RAUCOUS PARTY OR LARGE GATHERING, THIS IS NOT THE HOME FOR THEM. NEITHER IS IT THE HOME FOR SMALL CHILDREN; however, for those ADULTS WITH OLDER CHILDREN who want to experience the tranquility of nature at her most beautiful, this most definitely is the place to be.
If you would like to see more pictures of the home, guest house and property, please e-mail the owners at the address provided in the contact information.

Shelley works in the medical field and formerly worked in higher education for over 20 years. Larry has been one of Montana's top financial advisors for 36 years. We have two grown sons and a daughter who is a high school senior. We live in Billings, Mont. We are native small-town Montanans (Larry was raised on an eastern Montana ranch, Shelley in Laurel) who love our state and delight in seeing others enjoy it as well.
Larry and I have wanted a home on Flathead Lake all our lives. We have travelled extensively and agree wholeheartedly that this is the most beautiful place we ever have seen. There is a reason why Montana is called the 'Big Sky Country' and the 'Last Best Place.' It's because it is true. Add the magnificent Mission Mountains and Flathead Lake, one of the 300 largest natural lakes in the world, and we knew we had found paradise.
When 'Watersong' became available, we were so excited. It is a stunning home, in a magnificent setting. This is our family's vacation home, and we want to share it with people who will appreciate it, respect it; and, we hope, become part of our annual 'family of friends,' returning every year. This is not a home for large parties and raucous frivolity. It is a place to enjoy the tranquility of nature at her pure best.
Larry and I like to boat and go for lovely meals in the small area towns. These towns are charming; the people are friendly and welcoming. Our kids like to jet ski, go tubing and water skiing. They are much more adventurous than I. In the evening, we barbecue on the upper deck of the home, then bring the food down to the beach, after which the kids will light a fire in the open fire pit and cook s'mores. We often sit on the expansive dock and watch the sun set. There are bald eagles that frequent a certain tree on our property. What a treasure! My favorite thing to do, however, is to enjoy a good book while sitting either on the upper deck of the home or on the boat dock, with the gentle breezes of Dewey's Cove, and the backdrop of those magnificent Mission Mountains and, of course, the most beautiful lake in the world!
Kalispell is only 30 miles to the north; Polson is 23 miles to the south; and the charming town of Lakeside is only six miles away. Just the drive to these places is worth the trip to see the magnificent views, speaking of which, Glacier National Park is but an hour away, The lovely town of Bigfork is just around the lake, where you may enjoy live theater during the summer. Each town offers a variety of activities, some of which are unique to the area.
Skiers: Blacktail Mountain is approximate a 40-minute drive and Whitefish Mountain is just under an hour away.
Watercraft of all kinds may be rented in Lakeside, which is only six miles away.
