INDIAN BLUFF - SPECTACULAR RIVER VIEWS FROM 100+ FOOT BLUFF

Georgetown House Rental Photos and Description

Indian Bluff - Spectacular River Views from 100+ foot Bluff

Feel your stress melt away as you go down a country lane to Indian Bluff - a very comfortable, beautifully furnished home sitting in the middle of a 172 acre working farm - similar to a bed and breakfast, but better!.

Explore the spring fed creek in front of the home and see hundred of fossils in the limestone banks, fish or simply throw rocks in the San Gabriel River. Large live oaks, centuries old, make great shady spots for sitting outdoors. Enjoy the outdoor patio in back and watch the spectacular sunsets as you enjoy a glass of wine or beer after your day's activities. Enjoy the fire-pit in the fall and winter seasons. As you walk about, watch for arrow heads - many have been found.

Large king master suite, two queen bedrooms and guest bath. 22' high queen inflatable mattress also available. The dining table has a large leaf and will seat 8.

This home is ideal for families, family reunions, romantic get-aways, and girl's weekends.

Dan and I have owned 112 acre Scurlock Farms since 1986. My mom and dad originally purchased it in 1968 and after my dad died, we began buying it from my mom. She passed away in 2010 and we inherited her home and art studio, which are also on the farm. Not wanting to sell the homes, we remodeled them and began letting others share the beauty of the home and the farm in late 2010 (HomeAway #903120 and #369386).

In 2013 we were fortunate to be able to buy the adjoining 60 acre farm and the 3 bedroom home on it. We have totally remodeled that home and furnished it very comfortably. I have been using it as overflow rentals from the other homes listed, but decided to go ahead and give it its own listing.

Dan and I have had a ball meeting people from all over the United States and the world. Last week, a band from Spain playing at the SXSW Festival in Austin stayed at Indian Bluff and the Studio and the week before that a bride and groom and his family from India spent a week at Indian Bluff.

Dan and I both have been in the insurance business since college. Dan has recently retired and I am thinking about it! We also own a continuing education company, providing required CE for Texas insurance agents. Between that, the 3 vacation rentals, running a 172 acre farm, church activities and volunteering, we are very busy.

Owner Sheron Scurlock purchased this house in 2013

We truly live in one of the most beautiful areas of Texas, and certainly one of the prime spots along the San Gabriel River. When the adjoining 60 acre farm became available, we jumped at the chance to purchase it! Guests can enjoy the mile of river frontage, fishing, hiking, fossil and arrow head hunting, pecan harvest, or simply being lazy on the patio enjoying a book or drink under the huge live oaks. In the evening listen for the owls as they call to each other.

The views from the bluff are spectacular! The sunset over the river is taken from the bluff behind Indian Bluff.

THREE-BEDROOM BEAUTY

  • 5 of 5
This three-bedroom charmer is excellent for families or large groups. I spent most of my time on the covered patio in the backyard watching the hummingbirds fly around me and taking in the native plants. A short walk leads you to a romantic view of the bluffs overlooking the San Gabriel River -- stick around for a breathtaking sunset or watch the stars glinting off the river. I brought my dog and he loved hiking the nature paths on the 172-acre working farm conveniently located in the Texas Hill Country right down the street from Georgetown's famous town square dubbed the most beautiful town square in Texas. The most enjoyable part of my stay was the peaceful quiet nights -- time really does slow down here.

Owner's Response: Katy, it was a pleasure meeting you. I am so glad you took advantage of the walking areas and got to see a spectacular sunset! We are pet friendly and many guests enjoy this feature - their pets enjoy being in the country as much as they do! There is much to see and do around the beautiful Georgetown Square - the Williamson County Museum, tours of the historic courthouse, eating in one of the many fine restaurants, shop, or enjoy the beautiful Blue Hole Park (swimming and picnicking) just off the square on the San Gabriel River. When you return from your Europe trip, I hope you will stay with us again at Indian Bluff at Scurlock Farms!

EXACTLY WHAT WE WERE EXPECTING!

  • 5 of 5
Very beautiful place and home. Sheron treated us like part of her family. We are from Spain and we just want a place to stay during SXSW in Austin, but finally becomes a little vacations. Very peaceful place, the houses were extremely cleaned and 100% equipped. Even we were welcome with some exquisite muffins!
We would like to thanks again Sheron for this true American experience.
All the best!

Owner's Response: Manuel, what a pleasure it was to meet you and the Lori Myers Band members while in Austin playing at SXSW! I'm glad we had the two houses on the farm to accommodate all of you. I couldn't have asked for better house guests. I hope you play at SXSW again next year and stay with us again. The farm is in full bloom right now with many wildflowers and everything is lush green.

Indian Bluff at Scurlock Farms is ideally located. We have several wineries in the area, some with tasting rooms in Georgetown. InnerSpace Caverns is a fantastic cavern discovered during the construction of IH 35. Be sure and go to Blue Hole, a local swimming spot just off of the square. Antique shop around the square in Georgetown or go to Salado, a 25 minute drive. See the Williamson County Museum, the Art Museum and the many art sculptures placed around town. Golf in one of the many great courses around Georgetown. Georgetown is host to many festivals - Red Poppy Festival in April, Halloween Fest in October, Christmas Stroll in December. See first rate live plays at the beautifully restored Palace Theater on the Square. Shop at the award winning Wolf Ranch in Georgetown, or the Premium Outlet Mall just 15 minutes away. Austin and its many activities are only 30 minutes away. Georgetown is blessed with many superb restaurants, so you try out as many as you have time for. 2/3 of all birds found in the state of TX are found in Williamson County. Many birders stop along the roadside of the farm to see the many varieties that make their homes here. We are blessed to have many habitats on the farm - forest, thicket, prairie and water frontage, so we attract a large variety of birds. Many arrow heads and artifacts have been found on the farm as Indian Bluff is the highest elevation for miles, so the Indians camped and lived on the land. Georgetown has miles and miles of hike and bike trails, connecting several beautiful parks.

Notes:
With 1+ mile of frontage along the San Gabriel River, the river has been a favorite with young and old guests alike. Kids love finding fossils and fool's gold in the wide white limestone banks and throwing rocks in the river. Anglers have caught many blue gill, catfish and bass. Many arrowheads have been found on the farm and maybe you'll get lucky and spot one. Hike about the farm and enjoy the many bird species (2/3 of all birds found in Texas are found in Williamson County).
