Feel your stress melt away as you go down a country lane to Indian Bluff - a very comfortable, beautifully furnished home sitting in the middle of a 172 acre working farm - similar to a bed and breakfast, but better!.
Explore the spring fed creek in front of the home and see hundred of fossils in the limestone banks, fish or simply throw rocks in the San Gabriel River. Large live oaks, centuries old, make great shady spots for sitting outdoors. Enjoy the outdoor patio in back and watch the spectacular sunsets as you enjoy a glass of wine or beer after your day's activities. Enjoy the fire-pit in the fall and winter seasons. As you walk about, watch for arrow heads - many have been found.
Large king master suite, two queen bedrooms and guest bath. 22' high queen inflatable mattress also available. The dining table has a large leaf and will seat 8.
This home is ideal for families, family reunions, romantic get-aways, and girl's weekends.
Dan and I have owned 112 acre Scurlock Farms since 1986. My mom and dad originally purchased it in 1968 and after my dad died, we began buying it from my mom. She passed away in 2010 and we inherited her home and art studio, which are also on the farm. Not wanting to sell the homes, we remodeled them and began letting others share the beauty of the home and the farm in late 2010 (HomeAway #903120 and #369386).
In 2013 we were fortunate to be able to buy the adjoining 60 acre farm and the 3 bedroom home on it. We have totally remodeled that home and furnished it very comfortably. I have been using it as overflow rentals from the other homes listed, but decided to go ahead and give it its own listing.
Dan and I have had a ball meeting people from all over the United States and the world. Last week, a band from Spain playing at the SXSW Festival in Austin stayed at Indian Bluff and the Studio and the week before that a bride and groom and his family from India spent a week at Indian Bluff.
Dan and I both have been in the insurance business since college. Dan has recently retired and I am thinking about it! We also own a continuing education company, providing required CE for Texas insurance agents. Between that, the 3 vacation rentals, running a 172 acre farm, church activities and volunteering, we are very busy.
Owner Sheron Scurlock purchased this house in 2013
We truly live in one of the most beautiful areas of Texas, and certainly one of the prime spots along the San Gabriel River. When the adjoining 60 acre farm became available, we jumped at the chance to purchase it! Guests can enjoy the mile of river frontage, fishing, hiking, fossil and arrow head hunting, pecan harvest, or simply being lazy on the patio enjoying a book or drink under the huge live oaks. In the evening listen for the owls as they call to each other.
The views from the bluff are spectacular! The sunset over the river is taken from the bluff behind Indian Bluff.
This property was just what our family was looking for. We needed to be in the Georgetown area for two months. The thought of staying at a motel or renting an apartment just did not feel right. We felt welcome from even before day one. What a great experience.
Our family includes two children and two dogs. Indian Bluffs was the perfect place for us. The wifi enabled us to continue school seamlessly. The fully equipped kitchen made it easy for me to prepare meals. The beds were enormously comfortable (so much that now that I am at home, I am missing them!) That our doggie family was welcome and had plenty of room to exercise was so important. We enjoyed our hikes and runs and the quiet seclusion of being at the end of the road. We felt safe and secure in the location.
The Scurlocks were wonderful. They were helpful, informative, generous and attentive. Anytime we needed something (such as more firewood for the chilly days and nights) they were quick and pleasant to help.
Our stay here was absolutely perfect. The home was clean and everything in the house worked. The kitchen was well stocked and I had the opportunity to cook in the oven, on the stove, in the microwave and on the bbq grill. We had plenty of hot water for a family of four. It was so helpful that there was a clothes washer and dryer right there.
We could not have asked for a better place to stay for the length of time we spent in Georgetown. I would absolutely recommend staying with the Scurlocks to anyone who is looking for a peaceful, homey home away from home. Thank you so much! If we ever have need for this situation again, I will be making reservations happily!!
We stayed here for a work trip. There were three of us on our team who spent a few nights here. The accommodations were perfect.
I had the wonderful opportunity to stay a couple of months at the Indian Bluff house. As others have expressed, I felt relaxed and at home as soon as I got there. There are so many personal touches Sheron and her family offer. The homemade muffins she makes are delicious and were still warm from the oven. These come in a variety of flavors, you will be asked what kind you prefer. There is a tour of the 130 acre property that includes views from the bluffs overlooking the San Gabriel River and the family goat herd. Much nature can be seen, deer, hawks, armadillo from hiking trails as well as from the back porch of the house. The home is beautifully decorated with such amenities as wi-fi and household essentials, kitchen, laundry, and bathroom items. The house was sparkling clean and well maintained. This property is the perfect distance from either Austin or Georgetown activities so the day can be planned accordingly. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative.
Sheron you and your family were such wonderful welcoming hosts. It is an experience I will never forget.
We had 7 people in our group and the house was a perfect fit. It was fully stocked including coffee, tea and Sheron even made us Blueberry muffins! Yummy, thank you so much. The pictures were a very good representation of the property and the only thing that bugged us was that there were no numbers on the outside of the house. This made it a little difficult to make sure we knew we were at the right place. Other than that we had an absolute blast and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Next time we are in the area we know where we are going to stay.
Sheron, thank you so much for everything.
This was a great stay! We have rented dozens of vacation houses and this felt like home as soon as we walked through the door. Everything we ever need, and more, was right there. The kitchen has a great supply of spices and cooking basics so we weren't running to the store for salt and pepper. It is clean, spread out and easy to relax. All the bedrooms have some separation so it feels private and they are beautifully decorated and appointed.
The "Texas" theme is real, with pastures, fences, livestock and big old live oaks around the house. The back patio was a great resting, reading and eating area. The fire pit and grill kept us happy and out of the kitchen! (with plenty firewood) The owners are helpful but not intrusive. I would recommend this to anyone and expect repeat visits.
My husband is a U of Texas graduate and Austin is really easy to get to. Georgetown has much to offer; we couldn't do it all during our visit. Loved this stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Indian Bluff. The country atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. Just what we needed for a family get-together. We arrived really late and it was so nice to have some tasty muffings waiting for us. They were a perfect snack to munch on while we got settled! The home is so lovely and was perfect for our family to spread out and have some fun celebrating birthdays. The kids loved getting to visit the horses, goats, and cows. The kitchen was nicely stocked with all the needed kitchen gadgets. They even had a wafflemaker!
Thank you so much for opening your doors to our family. We look forward to returning again, maybe when the weather turns cooler!
Indian Bluff at Scurlock Farms is ideally located. We have several wineries in the area, some with tasting rooms in Georgetown. InnerSpace Caverns is a fantastic cavern discovered during the construction of IH 35. Be sure and go to Blue Hole, a local swimming spot just off of the square. Antique shop around the square in Georgetown or go to Salado, a 25 minute drive. See the Williamson County Museum, the Art Museum and the many art sculptures placed around town. Golf in one of the many great courses around Georgetown. Georgetown is host to many festivals - Red Poppy Festival in April, Halloween Fest in October, Christmas Stroll in December. See first rate live plays at the beautifully restored Palace Theater on the Square. Shop at the award winning Wolf Ranch in Georgetown, or the Premium Outlet Mall just 15 minutes away. Austin and its many activities are only 30 minutes away. Georgetown is blessed with many superb restaurants, so you try out as many as you have time for. 2/3 of all birds found in the state of TX are found in Williamson County. Many birders stop along the roadside of the farm to see the many varieties that make their homes here. We are blessed to have many habitats on the farm - forest, thicket, prairie and water frontage, so we attract a large variety of birds. Many arrow heads and artifacts have been found on the farm as Indian Bluff is the highest elevation for miles, so the Indians camped and lived on the land. Georgetown has miles and miles of hike and bike trails, connecting several beautiful parks.
