Oakland Apartment Rental Photos and Description
1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 8 Sleeps
This is an entire, completely private (separate door and key), remodeled downstairs unit in a grand home on the border of Oakland & Piedmont. While the house is a 100 year old architectural gem (of 'Major Importance' in Oakland's registry), the Flat is fully remodeled. Huge main room / bedroom with King Size Bed and several sofabeds, plus your own completely private kitchen, laundry, fireplace & bathroom. Abundant parking curbside at the house is always available.
Please note that this may not be ideal for very, very tall people, as the ceiling in some areas are below 7 feet.
This is the safest and most walkable area of all Oakland (right on the border of Piedmont), and also has very easy access to buses and Bart to SF, Berkeley, and the entire Bay Area.
10 minute walk to Trader Joes, Walgreens, several women's boutiques ranging from upscale to consignment, two toy stores and many great restaurants. If you're feeling like something fast, there's Chipotle, Noahs Bagels, two ice cream / frozen yogurt places, and four pizza places in walking distance (from NY-style by the slice, to Chicago deep-dish, to uber-Gourmet). For coffee, we have both Starbucks and Peets.
5-10 minute walk to several beautiful parks, playgrounds, gyms, tennis courts and basketball courts.
A little further walk to Grand brings you to another dozen shops as well as great restaurants, including Mijori Sushi, Boot & Shoe, Penrose, and Grand Tavern.
The striking and historic Grand Lake movie theater, with the latest films in 3D and otherwise, is also just a 10 minute walk.
It's two miles - either a pleasant lakeside walk or a 5 minute drive - to some of the best nightlife in the Bay Area, including the Fox and Paramount Theaters, with many of the hottest bands and speakers (ranging from Condoleeza Rice to Paul Krugman) anywhere.
As shown in photos, there are around a dozen steps up to the property. To me and all the guests so far, walking them feels great. Still, please consider if steps are a problem for you.

I grew up in Orinda, a little suburb 30 minutes from San Francisco. I've spent most of my life between the Bay Area, Santa Monica (a beach city in L.A. County) and New York City. I surf, ski, snowboard, play basketball, tennis and soccer and a lot of other sports. I like art and the house is quite filled with it, though not from anyone famous... yet :). I also enjoy board games and socializing in general. I've traveled a lot, from 10 in a room hostels to luxury, and understand what makes a nice place to stay. I'll do everything possible to help you enjoy your time here, and welcome your requests.
