our townhouse villa has the warm feel of home, (the owners have called Big Island home for over 28 years!) and features local original artwork, a well-equipped kitchen, 2 couches and luscious leather recliner in the living room; dining room and patio seating for 6. Ca. King beds in the master and guest bedroom. Master has a huge walk-in shower and jetted tub. Spacious lanai off the master suite for enjoying your morning coffee, the singing birds, and view of the beautifully landscaped grounds and the peaks of Mauna Kea. Guest Bedroom has ensuite tub/shower. The Fairways has its own large pool, jacuzzi, workout room, and BBQ area.

When we moved to Hawaii in the early 80's we had a Tennis membership at the Mauna Lani and really enjoyed the tennis, beach, spa, and restaurants. The Beach Club was our son's playground in elementary school time, and now they continue to return here for vacations with our grandchildren!

What makes this townhome unique

We feel this is the most appealing of the Kohala Coast Resort environments. Mauna Lani resort is environmentally conscious and in addition has one of top rated Spas in the world.There are so many restaurants in the area to visit: our pick of the oceanfront ones 'Hale Kai' or Browns Beach House at the Fairmont Orchid, and LavaLava at the Waikoloa Beach Resort area.

We just rented this beautiful condo at #1804 for the fifth time and are very happy with the amenities, and also the free phoncalls back to Canada. As foodies, we are excited about the increasing number of great restaurants in the immediate neighborhood, some directly in the sandy beach. We have children and this condo is perfect for that! Great for days at the pool or the beach with all the great beach toys available! We'll be back!

Great Vacation Rental

My family and I were over-all very pleased with the rental at the Fairways. The description accurately described the condo. It was well appointed with all the items you would need in the kitchen, laundry room, bathrooms, etc. It was also very clean. We loved that we could easily walk to the pool in the afternoon to relax after a day at the beach or sightseeing. It was quiet and you felt very safe. The main master bedroom is huge with an equally huge bathroom and a small couch that makes into a bed for a child, which worked perfectly for our little grand-daughter. The downstairs furniture was comfortable and the TV had lots of stations and Netflix movies. The access to the Beach Club was wonderful to have and we used it frequently. What a beautiful beach. We also went to the little grocery store in the Mani Lani shopping area frequently,so it was nice to get a little discount there. Seniors also get a discount. The manager/owner, Elaine, was also very helpful and accommodating. Here are our "few" issues that may or may not be important to other people: The other master-bedroom is adequate, but the bathroom is quite small with very little counter space or any drawers for two people to put all their bathroom things. I had to round up a couple of baskets to put our hair brushes, makeup, sunblock, deodorant, etc. in. There is a linen closet in that room with wire shelves, which didn't really work for bathroom accessories, but worked for a place to put our clothes, as there is no chest of drawers in that room. But our biggest complaint about the smaller bedroom is that it gets VERY HOT in the afternoon as it's large window faces the afternoon sun. The plantation shutters don't begin to adequately block out the heat from the sun or the light from all the street lights at night for that matter. It was pretty much impossible to cool down that room to sleep comfortably without making the rest of the house too cool. Thankfully they have a turbo fan in that room that can be moved around the room, and bathroom to help cool one off. There is no working fan in the bathroom, so the fan really helped when one took a shower. Also, I personally wouldn't recommend it for people with really little children or bad knees as the stairs are very steep, a bit slippery and the railing is loose. But I think for most people this is an excellent rental and I would go certainly go back again.

Here are just a couple of explanations.
Steepness of the stairs: all condos in Hawaii are built according to the Uniform Building Code, so all stairways in other condos are the same as ours.
Heat in guest bedroom: we are sorry you found it too warm; we've never had a guest complain about it. Hawaii's attraction is sun and year-round warmth, and yes, it can get hot. We will surely look into finding a better balance in the air conditioning system as the comfort of our guests is important. Aloha.

Beautiful house

The house was gorgeous, exactly like the pictures, everything was clean and when we needed more trash bags, Elaine brought them soon. However the fan in the master bedroom stopped working half way in the trip, so we didn't have a fan for 5 days, because of scheduling it was not able to be fixed while we were there, but it wasn't bad. I used the pool, hot tub and gym, I was happy with those. The area was quite and very nice. However, the TV didn't have many channels, no HBO or any of the main good movie ones, that was a little disappointing, the one night we wanted to watch TV, we couldn't find anything good to watch. Overall, a great stay, would definitely be back!

Owner's Response: thanks for letting us know HBO was important. We have added that plus many other upgrades to the multiple channels that come provided with the HOA dues. Also the late model flat screen TV we have allows you to watch Netflix movies. The fan is now working.

Wonderful Stay

We recently returned from a 5 night stay and would highly recommend the Mauna Lani Fairways and this unit in particular. My husband and I had stayed at the Mauna Lani resort several years ago and just loved it. This time we were coming with our 2 boys and felt a condo would better fit our needs and our budget. The condo was spacious and comfortable and was stocked with everything we could need. This unit had several parking spaces right out front and gardens and the pool in back. The Fairways was very peaceful and quiet and we hardly heard or saw anyone else except for a few early morning walkers and one other family at the pool. We loved the fact that we had access to the beautiful Mauna Lani beach club. It's a perfect snorkel spot with calm water and lots of fish and an occasional turtle. There were always plenty of empty chairs available, including ones with umbrellas or the cabana type. We definitely hope to be back again some day. Elaine was friendly and responsive to work with and we would choose this condo again in a heartbeat.

A very relaxing week in May

The owner: Elaine was very easy to work with.
The house: very, very well stocked, quiet, comfortable.
The location: the Mauna Lani resort area has a lot to offer: snorkeling beaches, fishponds, petroglyph park, golf, ... all of which are either within walking distance or a short drive. Also close to a small shopping plaza that provides basic grocery/dinning.

Great property

We loved staying in this house!! We had such a great time!
The place is neat, spacious and modern which we like very much.
It had everything we needed. Even boogie board, water shoes and snorkels and a bbq.
All was taking care off.
The fairways is a quiet place, has a nice pool (was not warm though) and a great neat garden. Loved it. It was close to a small shopping center with a grocery store and some restaurant. I also liked it that we were able to go to 2 different beaches closeby and where able to go to Vermont Orchid.
We would definitely stay hear again!

The Fairways at Mauna Lani is a gated community of luxury town homes built in 2005, located on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. About 20 min. north from the Kona (KOA) airport, you are nestled between the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and the Fairmont Orchid Hotel. Walk to Orchid Hotel for shoreline walks and gorgeous sunsets; drive or bike 5 minutes to the private, gentle bay 'the Beach Club', with its lounge chairs, and casual restaurant... wonderful Mai Tai and meals...we think it is a real gem!

Many shops and restaurants within the resort and a gourmet grocery store open until 11 pm. Explore nearby towns of Waimea, Hawi etc, or partake in horseback riding, ATV tours, ZipLine, fluming the Kohala Ditch in kayaks, hiking, bird watching, swimming, golf, snorkeling, tennis, scuba, whale watching and helicopter tours. If you have several days on-island, you'll want to drive the Hamakua Coast to Hilo and down to see the Volcano (active since 1984!)
