This large 3000 sq ft waterfront log cabin is one of the few homes in Detroit with a semi-private sandy beach. Walk 50' down the wooded path from the cabin and enjoy swimming, laying in the sun, boating or any watersport you choose. You can moore your boat infront of the cabin during your stay or keep it at Kane's Marina which is at the end of the road.
This 3-story home is perfect for large families, family reunions or multiple families wanting to enjoy a vacation together. On the main floor, you'll enjoy a large great room with a 20' vaulted ceiling, kitchen, 2 bedrooms with queen beds and a full bath. Wander up the stairs and find the master bedroom with a king bed, full bath and a large 500 sq ft loft which sleeps atleast 5. Downstairs in the basement, you will find a large game room with an air hockey table, foos ball table, bar, full bath and laundry room.
Outside, you will find one of the largest lots in Detroit with an extra large wrap around covered porch. From the porch you can enjoy a view of the lake. There is plenty of room in the front yard for tents or a good game of horse shoes. The property has a large secluded sunken firepit, perfect for smores or stories around the campfire.

we rented this cabin for my husbands 40th birthday party. It was the most well equipped rental I have ever been at, as well as the most comfortable and you could tell that the owners are kind, caring, giving people. Our family and friends all had an amazing time and we plan on returning for years to come as long as it is available. We rent houses in various places every year for family trips but this was above and beyond the best we have ever stayed at. We greatly appreciate the family allowing us to have this experience and build so many great memories.
Thank you for sharing your lovely lake front/view cabin with us. We've stayed at different places at Detroit lake but this trip was by far the best of all because of the great, super clean and well equipped cabin. The most convenient location! Overall what a phenomenal experience! THAN YOU FROM MY FAMILY AND I!!!!
My family and I enjoyed our weekend getaway. It was everything advertised and more. A short walk to the boat dock and an even shorter walk to the lake. My son built two remote sailboats and had a great time sailing them. My grandkids had fun swimming and rafting. We definitely recommend this cabin for any family that wants to get together and bond. We all want to go back!
We rented the home for the weekend of mothers day this year. The weather was not on our side that weekend. In fact it rained nearly 2 1/2" in two days. not so good for going outside. The great thing about that was that the rain did not matter one bit. It gave our family the opportunity to just sit down and share life. The home made this all the better with the nice large main living room/great room and no T.V. We had an absolute blast. Ready to rent for next year.
Our family group of nine people and two dogs experienced an idyllic time at 'the cabin'. We picked this listing because of the cabin location, layout and photos showing a warm and comfy space for our shared Christmas away from home. The reality exceeded our hopes...we spent a week relaxing, cooking, hiking, reading, reminiscing and experiencing a simple Christmas centered on family. The cabin was very clean, kitchen tools/dishes plenty (even for a family of foodies), board games well stocked and linens too. Bud was very helpful and patient with all of our questions. When we mentioned we'd like to be able to snowshoe he emailed links to local spots and trails as well as continued to keep us posted on the likelihood of being able to explore from our front door. Out of everyone's control snow was scarce but we hiked to Pamelia Lake and stood in snow looking up at Mt Jefferson - a memory making day! Bud and Carole surprised us on our arrival having set up a Christmas tree complete with a family treat from the Caprinos! We would recommend this cabin to friends but don't want to loose the chance of booking for next year!
Overall, this is an excellent rental. To avoid re-iterating all the details, let's just say it's as-advertised on VRBO. But, some details: 1) Great location -- walking distance to the marina and 50 yards to the beach (you can anchor your boat by the house during the day or take the walk to the marina), 2) Well "stocked" (call before you bring firewood, lawn chairs, etc), 3) All the amenities: Grills (gas and smoker), firepit, trails, games, books, and 4) Beautiful house in general. For those that don't know, VRBO (this web site) is just the digital marketing arm for the rental owner. You will deal directly with the owner once you make the initial contact. With that, I found the owner to be pleasant and very easy to work with throughout the whole process. We had one snafu while at the house (our fault) and the owner was very nice and easy to work with during the issue.
