The owner is orginally from Jamaica but lived in New York for more than 30 years! He loves to coime back to enjoy Jamaica yearly and one of his favorite places is Negril.
Unique to this property is the fact that it has three beaches unlike any other property in this area! You can walk the entire seven miles of beach in Negril! One of the most awesome views is the island across the water!
I found apartment to be exactly as advertised. Nice furnishings, well maintained, and extremely comfortable. For a woman traveling alone I never felt a bit of discomfort in the apartment or on the grounds. Karen was always just a phone call away if I had any questions or concerns. Patty the house keeper keeps the place spotless and in good order. Bath towels and beach towels are plentiful and fluffy. Unlike others I like a firm bed and this one fit the bill. The only two suggestions are perhaps shades for the windows and door, plus replacing the stoppers in the bathroom and kitchen sinks. Other than that a perfect and relaxing stay. Thank you for allowing me to stay in #64.
This condo was definitely a good decision for our week long trip to Negril. The neighborhood was somewhat dated but the views were excellent
And the grounds were safe and clean. The guards at the front were quite friendly as well. As for the condo itself, it was small, but EXTREMELY clean and tastefully decorated. The kitchen allows you to experiment with the local grocery store and stay in on evenings that you don't want to drive anywhere. The TV works nicely and the channel selection was good. There were two
Minor gripes we had (nothing serious enough to warrant dissatisfaction). The main A/C unit was in operational during our stay, however the bedroom AC unit blew ice cold so
It was pleasant to sleep in. We just opened the windows to
Let in some breeze.
The second small gripe would be the bed, it was very firm. A matress pad would be recommended.
Overall the owner communicated well, was very courteous and offered even more than the initial
Listing indicated. We would rent here again without question.
My wife and I spent three nights in this condo. We found it to be clean, comfortable and very quiet. The owner was very easy to work with and helpful. She provided a cell phone, and the apartment was outfitted with wi-fi and a washer and dryer. The location was ideal with easy access to Negril's, many attractions. The beach was pristine with great snorkling right off the shore. I can recommend this rental without reservation. .
We very much enjoyed our stay at Point Village. While it is clear that the infrastructure of the development has suffered some hardships, the location and property can't be beat. Unlike the resorts/clubs which are jammed together along "7 mile beach", this property is peaceful, spacious, and quiet. With its 2 beaches, beautiful views, swimming pool and rock pools, and the walking/jogging loop, you can't find a better spot. The unit was immaculate, and perfect for two, photos are an excellent representation of its refurbished condition. You can walk down the road for sundries and liquor or take a cab into town for groceries or to visit town restaurants. There is a woman fruit vendor just a few yards from the long driveway to the road who sells fresh items. We found Penzie to be an expensive cab driver; just go out onto the boulevard and flag down a route taxi (so labeled) for a $1 each ride to town or to any destination along the beach. If you walk down the driveway and turn right, then walk about 10 minutes, you come to The Boardwalk, a small property with shops and a restaurant that is open to the public. Just walk through to the beach. That way you avoid Hedonism and Breezes which will not allow you to enter their gates, as is the practice with the all-inclusive clubs. We discovered that a number of the restaurants, including some on the cliffs at the West End will pick you up for free for dinner. There is always a driver around or one can be summoned for a paid ride back to Point Village. For a different experience, you can turn left at the end of the drive and walk up to Office of Nature where there is public entry to Bloody Bay and its beach, around the point bordering the Village. It's about a 20-minute walk along the Boulevard. The snorkeling is very good around the outskirts of Point Village and along the point. Dry warm weather and lovely breeze at all times meant we hardly used the A/C, We appreciated the Wifi in the unit to check out the local scene and restaurant menus, phone numbers & locations. A stay at this unit is a bargain compared to the costly resorts and you are free to do as much exploring as you like, a much better alternative than a gated all-inclusive. Neighbors we encountered were all quiet and courteous, enhancing our visit. In fairness, I should mention that there was a problem with the water pumps in the Village making pressure cease for some hours of every day. We did not find this a major inconvenience.
We just returned from our trip to Point Village in Negril, Jamaica.
I want to first say that Karen was wonderful to deal with. She was attentive to our needs, answered emails promptly and by all accounts represented the property honestly, however, the property itself was not worth the weekly rental rate that we paid. The location is excellent but the grounds are going to shambles. I am sure that this resort was once a beautiful site but now many condos
are empty and the larger buildings are left standing empty-falling apart in some cases. Very, very sad to see. The condo itself was clean, but SMALL. As far as sleeping 4 people-FORGET IT. The pull out bed was worthless and the mattress was an inch thick at best. The toilet ran the entire week we were there-even after the plumber came out. The kitchen could not handle two people at a time and it was very limited in what was available to use for cooking. You must supply EVERYTHING-paper towels, toilet paper, condiments, salt/pepper, etc.
There were ants-everywhere. Not a fan of using spray to kill them so we lived with them. This is not unusual-everyone had ants, but had we known we would have brought the poison traps with us. We had expected to use the washer and dryer since it was advertised but when we arrived they were locked. Karen told us she had issues in the past and that the maid service would do our laundry. We all had things to wash and would have preferred to do our own. We did not want to pay someone to do it since we were capable and had believed it was a service we could use. Let's just say that even with the maid coming in once-we still ran out of towels so ended up using towels for several days in a row and with three of us it became a challenge. Also-the water pressure was terrible. There were many days when we had to wait for water, one time we waited an entire night. This was throughout the entire property.
The beach was great, however, there are only a handful of beach chairs available-most were missing straps and were useless.
Careful when walking through Hedonism II. If you have children-walk along the road-do not go via the beach. There is a big difference with nudity vs swinging. You do have to walk through Hedonism II in order to walk the beach.
I would suggest that the weekly rate be lowered to reflect the above issues and that the laundry be available for guests.
I would recommend the beach area but not the property itself.
Travelled to Jamaica for a Wedding at Sandals Negril. We stayed at Point Village to avoid the ridiculous cost of staying on the resort. The condo is great in every way. After walking north and south on the resort properties, we realized that the beach right at Point Village is the best for privacy, quality, and snorkling. You'll have no problem heading south on the beach, but we had to lie to the guards to get onto the beach north of Point Village. Towards the end of the week, we were approached by family staying at Sandals saying how they wish they had travelled the way we did instead of staying on the resort (and we didn't even tell them we paid $1000 less per person!). If you want to check out Negril at the right price, this is the way to go!
