Bear Creek Lodge, built in 1927, is the perfect north woods retreat for family reunions, hunting or fishing vacations or just a relaxing escape to the north woods of Michigan. The lodge is situated on 120 acres with 510' of frontage on The Big Creek (a premier northern Michigan fly fishing river).

You will love to start the day enjoying a cup of coffee in the sitting area of the kitchen watching the deer make their way to the river. As you begin preparation of an old fashion country breakfast and the other guests gather in the kitchen area you will start to plan the day - fishing in the Big Creek or the nearby Ausable River, Hunting on the 120 acres of private land, a hike through the woods, a round of golf, snowshoeing or x-country skiing in the winter; or maybe you just want to relax on the deck and enjoy the serenity of the north woods of Michigan.

In the evening your group will gather around the massive 3 story field stone fireplace.Comfortable seating in the leather chairs, an old hickory rocking chair and large sectional sofa will allow you to relax and recount the adventures of the day.

Meals are easily prepared in the fully equipped kitchen with sub-zero refrigerator, new glass-top stove, antique 6 burner Garland gas stove, 2 large sinks, an abundance of counter space; and cooking utensils, china and flatware to serve 20+ guests. A breakfast room table that will accommodate eight.

You will share your adventures of the day over dinner at the large custom made dining table (seating for 14+). After dinner, perhaps a game of pool or marshmallows and smores by the fire pit.

Sleep in one of the 7 themed bedrooms: Master Suite - 1 king, Antler Room - 2 full, Golf Room - 1 full, Cowboy Room - 1 full and 1 twin, Bird Room - 1 queen and 1 twin trundle, Fish Room - 1 full, Flag Room - 1 twin bunk.

There is plenty to do close by, but most guests never want to leave the property once they arrive at Bear Creek Lodge!

The lodge was fantastic. We had 12 adults and 2 small kids and the cabin worked excellent for our group! We loved the well equipped kitchen and the huge dinning room table. The great room was gorgeous and very comfortable and homey feeling! Definitely would recommend this place to others!

We had an excellent visit to Bear Creek Lodge; everything went so well that we left with the idea that we'll return! The design is impressive with every inch thoughtfully used so that our large party was comfortable. The atmosphere of a log-cabin getaway couldn't be beat. We've stayed other places, but I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the woodwork. One tip that we would pass along is that we were happy that we remembered to take a gate to block the stairway for toddlers. There were so many details that we enjoyed and appreciated, with cleanliness topping the list. Also, the extras (such as spices, cleaning supplies, sleds, plentiful supply of linens, on & on!) really made our stay relaxing. In fact, we opted to forego an outing so that we could stay in and enjoy the property. I highly recommend a visit to Bear Creek!

Awesome Log Lodge Snow Shoe Trip!

We did an annual girls snow shoeing and cross country ski trip...we were awesomely surprised as how great the house was. The pictures don't always really tell you what a place is like. This is a beautiful log lodge with a huge fireplace, spacious equipped kitchen, some huge bedrooms. Has a great feel to it and such charm! We snow shoed right out the door out into trails through the woods and it was absolutely breathtaking. We will definitely be coming back to this lodge...and I imagine in summer and fall would be beautiful. Thank you to Michael and Sarah for all your help, you are wonderful, accomodating hosts!

Great Get Away

We had a great time at the cabin. I'll try to list some pro's and con's.

Pros -
* The cabin is very rustic and cool feeling. The rooms have different themes which is neat.
* I've rented several cabins, and this was the cleanest one ever.
* More than enough room for everyone to be together, or have some alone time.
* Kellogs A-1 Stop and shop, it saved us several times as we made 4 trips to the store for things we forgot.

Cons -
* Very COLD, the main room was 35 degrees when we arrived, and because there is only one vent, it took almost an entire day to warm up. Of course, it was pretty chilly that weekend.
* The wood provided was very wet and would not burn. Some people arrived with more wood on Sunday, and that would burn also. We tried everything from kindling to buying fire starter logs, and it would never sustain a fire.

Overall, we were more than satisfied with the cabin, and look forward to many more vacations there.
