About Susie Wells

My husband Gary and I met in Brevard 30 years ago. We have been renovating homes in and around Brevard for the last 23 years. This Vacation Rental: The Brown Eyed Susie is fondly named after me. We both enjoy bringing back to life homes that have been neglected and somewhat 'remuddled' This one has heart and the benefit of being walking distance to the wonderful town of Brevard.

Susie Wells purchased this house in 2013

Why Susie Wells chose Brevard

We actually looked to buy this home many years ago...It needed so much work that we shied away. When it came on the market again, at a price that would allow us to do the necessary work, we jumped. We have added three closets, a half bath, laundry room, changed location of a bedroom and kitchen, rebuilt back porch, opened up walls to open space, replaced floor joists, replaced floor in kitchen and mud porch, relocated parking from back to front of house, all without adding any square footage (same footprint) ....It worked...whew!!! Time for a vacation!

What makes this house unique

Walking distance to town, comfort and character of an old home, big front porch with swing and extra seating, walking distance to Library

Great little house! Updated furnishings throughout, plenty of room, and beautiful kitchen! Hope to go back many more times! Has an extra bonus enclosed room off the kitchen for bicycles too. If you're an intense cyclist, this is the place to stay!

More than I expected!!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved this place. It was very, very clean which is most important to us. Simple, neat, very nicely done. We were also impressed with the area and enjoyed the many, many waterfalls, hikes, shopping, and food nearby. Brought home several treasures.

The front porch swing was used every evening. It was nice to be able to be outside in the rain without getting wet at all. Traffic noise does not bother me, so that was not an issue at all. I was in the front room and it is quiet at night anyway. My parents were in the back bedroom and didn't notice it at all.

We will visit again! :)

Brown Eyed Beauty!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! Susie & Gary, what a beautiful job you did restoring this house. We loved our stay in your home. It is comfortable, and so clean! It was also well stocked with everything we needed. We loved taking our malti-poo Penelope to the cute little park across the street. Such a convient location to walk to the downtown, and restaurants. We enjoyed eating at Rocky's, The Falls Landing, and Marco Tratorria's. We would highly recommend the brown eyed Susie to anyone! Brevard is awesome little mountain town, and we can't wait to stay their again!

Very clean and beautifully updated!

  • 4 of 5

When we first entered the home, we felt the living room was smaller than the pictures seemed. The living room furniture was small and not very comfortable, but suited the home perfectly. The kitchen is beautiful and equiped with anything you will need. The beds are very comfortable and there are plenty of extra towels, blankets and linens if you need them. Very central to everything in and near Brevard. We loved it and plan on returning in the future! Susie is very helpful, down to earth and wonderful as well!
