Guerneville is a perfect destination point for a quiet weekend away from the city with friends or family. I love the welcoming, friendly local community and the proximity to so many year-round events and activities. Spend a day on the river or out hiking, or tour the local wineries for a more upscale experience--all of that is available to you in Guerneville.
This Guerneville rental is ideal for staying in and cooking with friends or unwinding in the hot tub after a day spent exploring local wineries or biking along the beautiful, winding roads. Walk to the grocery store and the local restaurants, cafes, and bars along Main Street, and soak in the beauty that surrounds this lovely Sonoma County gem.
My three adult children and I stayed over the holidays and really enjoyed this cozy creative cottage. It had ample room for all of us. Being an artist, I especially enjoyed the interior design with its mix of contemporary and antique decorations. The top floor, where we hung out the most, has a beautiful view of the lush green valley. The only thing I missed was having better pans to cook in, Teflon is just plain unhealthy. Cast iron from a thrift shop would be a welcome addition. I also wished the utensils were all metal so we would not have to hand wash them. I would definitely go back next year, maybe with my own pans. The location was perfect, short drive to spectacular hiking in the redwoods and 20 mins to the beach.
My wife and I, and another couple stayed the The Lair for weekend getaway to wine/beer country. We could not have asked for a more relaxing "home" away from home.
The Lair is clean, cozy, and comfortable. The hot-tub was an added bonus after a long day of wine tasting; and was perfect for unwinding.
The kitchen is completely modern, with poured concrete counter-tops, stainless appliances, and looks out over a redwood forest (how cool is that?!). The bedrooms and beds were comfy (especially to us city folk who live in "shoe-boxes" in SF). We did most of our socializing in the upper story, around the dining and living room (which looks like it's out of a Crate & Barrel catalog), and did our couch-potato lazing in the lounge downstairs. Many naps were had :-). The master bedroom on the bottom story, FYI, has shag carpet and opens to a deck. Pretty posh.
Nightly, we were able to walk to the main drag in Guernville (about a 15 minute walk) to grab drinks at the local bars and some house/food supplies from Safeway. We spent an afternoon on Johnson's Beach, also a 15 minute walk.
Serene, cool, and relaxing setting. Highly recommended for a casual getaway.
This was a well kept, well decorated home. There were 4 adults and 2 children for 3 days. We enjoyed the deck, the spa, the walk to town (a little steep, but fine) and all of the things the home had to offer. The kitchen was spacious and all appliances were higher tier. The washer and dryer was a nice thing to have with two kids. The bathrooms were well equipped though the shower was a little tight. The furniture was comfortable and the area was quiet. The only suggestion I would make is to put a little softer mattress in the downstairs bedroom.
"Walking distance to the river" is in my opinion incorrect. You have to walk down a giant hill and then on a very fast road to get into town then further to get to the river. The town is eclectic at best and doesn't really have a great place to walk to and have dinner. You are extremely close to Armstrong National Park but other then that getting in the car is necessary to do anything. The house itself is very clean, can definitely sleep 6 people comfortably and it has a great dining area. We didn't try the hot tub but sitting outside provided a great view of the mountains.
Four of us had a delightful time at The Lair. The house was super clean and comfortable, so convenient to town, and the hot tub was great! The kitchen was well appointed and anything that wasn't there was readily available at Safeway. We only had four, but you could easily have double that and still not feel crowded. We all said we would go back again. Thanks!!
The house was great. Very clean and quaintly decorated. Beds were clean and comfortable. Lots of sleeping options. Great outdoor space for visiting and wine sampling. Very wooded and peaceful. Great functional kitchen with excellent Bosch appliances.
My son goes to college in Norcal and we live down south, so we met in the middle (sort of) to spend time together during his spring break. Guerneville's great as a budding food hub. Many restaurant options in town and nearby. Property managers were very pleasant to deal with.
Wineries! We are minutes from the world-famous wineries of Sonoma's Russian River region, including Korbel, Gary Farrell, J Winery, Rodney Strong, Geyser Peak, Kenwood, and Valley of the Moon. Pinot Noir is a specialty, but there are many great varietals grown in our viticultural area.
