Ferme d'Allet in winter:
If you are contemplating making a tour of the chateaux, Ferme d'Allet provides an ideal base for an autumn, winter or spring visit. The chateaux are open the year round, and you'll avoid the summer crowds.
The farmhouse is well equipped with central heating throughout, an open fireplace, a deep bath tub and constant piping hot water.
All the bedrooms have feather quilts and extra blankets.
Surcharge from October - March, £35.00 per week for logs and electricity.
Where to find Ferme d'Allet:
The farm is situated close to the historic town of Loches which hosts a lively twice-weekly market and a chateau (complete with dungeons). In the opposite direction you'll find Chinon, centre of the famous wine region. There are several recommended restaurants in Chinon and it makes a great lunchtime stop during a well planned tasting tour the nearby vineyards.
Closer to home, you'll find three busy market towns within 10kms of the farm; Ste. Maure de Touraine, Ligeuil and Descartes. They each have their own charecter - it's to you to choose your favourite.
The historic city of Tours is less than 40 minutes away. The medieval old city is renowned for its tranquil atmosphere and high quality boutiques and restaurants. The Catherdral and Art Gallery are worth a visit before lunch and for the adventurous, remember that from Tours, Paris is less than one hour away by the famous TGV, making a day trip possible should the mood take you.
