Garden Suite Not Sweet
My wife and I stayed at this unit late August/early September, 2013. At that time the unit had a damp, musty smell (partially masked by a large floor fan and scent defuser) and mould was visible in several locations. Bedsheets were damp and uncomfortable. We found the owner unsympathetic and would not recommend this unit for anyone at all sensitive to dampness and mould.
Owner's Response: Heavy rain precipitated into high humidity in the city and our garden apartment was no exception. We offered a high speed fan to circulate the air. After our client's wife arrived on the second night, there was a complaint of sensitivity to a garden level apartment. We OFFERED to put in a dehumidifier as well as to have the housekeeper spot clean with vinegar to remove any problems that they could present to us. We also suggested putting the heat on while out to remove the humidity. The client did not want us in the apartment and declined any offer of help. Unfortunately a garden apartment is an inappropriate place to rent if one has extreme sensitivities. Some people are allergic to allergens in carpets and should request properties with no carpets. We apologized that our property did not meet with their expectations but unfortunately we did not have an alternative for them.
