We fell in love with this place when we saw the beautiful house tucked away in a valley with over 40 acres of aspen, blue spruce and open meadows. We enjoy the majestic views of the mountains, the serenity of overlooking Skaguay Reservoir and hiking in one of the prettiest valleys along Beaver Creek. The many custom features of the house were another attraction from the gourmet kitchen, to the spacious living areas, the huge windows and wide wrap around deck for relaxing outdoors.

The large wrap around deck affords expansive views of the mountains and lake. At 9,100’ elevation the house is wonderfully comfortable with gentle breezes and low humidity. The house is situated among the aspens with no other houses in view from the front deck which gives the place of sense of calm and serene seclusion. In the mood for a peaceful and quiet place to stay? Then this is the setting. Within walking distance of the house is Skaguay Reservoir and Beaver Creek, which are excellent for fly fishing for trout. There is canoeing and boating on Skaguay Reservoir and hiking, backpacking and camping in one of the prettiest valleys along Beaver Creek. Nearby are lots of activities from gold mine tours, hiking and mountain biking at Mueller State Park (over 5,000 acres of parkland) and horseback riding, exploring scenic byways and historic gold mine towns, white water rafting the Arkansas River, antiquing, shopping and more. The property is only about an hour and fifteen minutes southwest of Colorado Springs.

MOUNTAIN VACTION

  • 5 of 5
The property was as advertised. Wonderful views, and excellent accomodations, Only issue was the altitude (9100'). It takes a couple of days to get use to, so be sure to drink plenty of water and limit activities the first day or two. The lake was stocked with trout and provided a nice meal. Nearby activities are primarly in cripple creek (casino, gold mine tours).

Our family had an excellent time in a great house in the mountains. If you are looking for a remote and quiet vacation this is your place.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your positive review and important reminder to drink extra water & take it easy the first day or two, as you are enjoying Colorado's cooler weather at 9,100 ft.!

SUMMER VACATION WITH 3 GENERATIONS OF FAMILY

  • 5 of 5
Overall, our stay was very nice. The cabin is lovely and has a great layout for multiple families or in our case multiple generations (we put all the teenagers in the two rooms downstairs). We weren't quite expecting just how far out of the way it was from everything else. The 20 minute drive from the base of the mountain to the cabin (which is only 5 miles) took a little getting used to. If you're looking for a secluded vacation spot where you can hike and fish, this is definitely it!

AMAZING FAMILY GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
WOW! This was by far the best family vacation we have ever had. We travel to the Lake often being so close and had no idea this beautiful home existed. The house is beautiful and very equipped with all the amenities you need! Had a blast playing Uno, Hiking and Fishing. Weather was perfect, and the perfect vacation with Children! We plan on renting every year from now on and possibly in winter for ice fishing! I already cant wait to go back!!! Thanks for such a wonderful time!

ASPEN LAKE HOUSE FAMILY VACATION

  • 5 of 5
This past week, my family stayed at the Aspen lake house. The house was even more beautiful than the pictures and the description. There was tons of room and the view is to die for. Even though the cabin is remote, we all loved it. My kids are all teenage/early 20's so we did a good deal of hiking from the cabin, enjoying all the conveniences of the house (Wifi, DVD player), and cooking from an excellently equipped kitchen. Since it is remote, make sure you plan ahead with food for the week and get any shopping done on the way in. We shopped in Woodland Park.

The weather was wonderful and certainly a nice change from Texas at the beginning of summer. Victor is a quaint small town. The cafe across the street from the Victor Lowell mining museum has great hamburgers and we also tried the pizza nearby, surprisingly good. We toured the CC&V mine one morning, and I highly recommend it. It was well worth it! Other than that, we really didn't stray far from the cabin except with hiking.

Our 2WD van did okay with the roads and the driveway, but I could certainly see with winter weather how a 4WD vehicle is a must.

The altitude took some getting used to. I would suggest that the first 24 hrs be very low-key. I don't think we got used to it completely. We just realized that we would not quite be able to do everything that we were used to doing at home. I loved how quiet and peaceful it was and definitely loved the change of pace. I would recommend this cabin to anyone! It was a wonderful find!
