What we liked... Right on Lake Superior with a incredible view. The common area (kitchen, dining, living room) was great. Nicely decorated, warm, comfy. Very spacious. There were 8 of us and plenty of room for us to all have dinner together, sit and do puzzles, watch movies, talk, etc. We could walk on the Gitchi Gami trail right from the property and it was only 2 miles to Gooseberry Fall State Park for more hiking and exploring. Heating, fireplace, TV, DVD player all worked well. Internet was slow at times but we were always able to connect. Since it was winter we didn't use the screened in porch but it looked like it would be a wonderful spot to enjoy morning coffee or an evening drink, looking out on the lake. Owner was very easy to work with.
What we were disappointed with....The water, even when filtered, was too salty to drink or even to make coffee with. We had to drive into town and buy a big jug of drinking water. This may be because the property hadn't been used for a while - who knows. Two of the bedrooms are very nice master bedrooms with king beds, private baths, etc. The other two bedrooms have small double beds, no amenities such as night stands, reading lights etc.and they are very cramped because of very large metal bunk bed structures in them (no mattresses on the bunks so not usable). These two rooms felt like budget hotel rooms. I think the set-up would work fine for families with kids but for 8 adults the huge difference in the rooms made it a little awkward deciding who got which room. None of the bedrooms had clothing rods in the closets or dressers so there was no place to put clothes - a convenience you expect to have in a nicer home such as this one.

Owner's Response: This past weekend January 26th and 27th we replace all of the furnishings in the two rooms that previously had the full beds with 2 brand new beautiful queen sets with 2 night stands in each room. Please refer to the newly uploaded photos of bedrooms 1 and 2. We also installed closet systems in those rooms along with the master bedroom. Also, we had a new stone and glass backsplash installed in the kitchen. Lastly, we discovered there is an issue with the water softener and we are having this addressed. We did offer an payment adjustment for the water inconvenience.
