After a five year search of Sarasota County Key Islands, we discovered beautiful Manasota Key. We fell in love with this Old Florida property with its private water views and amazing wildlife. The private cove surrounded by beautiful mangroves made us feel as if we were back in the magical South Pacific. The beach was the most private, pristine, beautiful beach we had ever discovered. You could not look down without finding fossilized sharks' teeth. We could walk for miles without seeing one person! This was the Old Florida we were looking for.
Laura purchased this house in 2013
We love the secluded Coastal Hammocks area of Manasota Key! Winding down Manasota Key Road, you drive under an ancient live oak canopy with Spanish moss cascading down. Turning onto the private road, you drive into an incredibly secluded location. Beautiful water views welcome you! Yet you are only minutes from the mainland where you can stock up at Walmart or Target, go to excellent restaurants or browse the shops in Olde Englewood. The four bedroom Florida layout with cool terrazzo floors is perfect for vacation. Fantastic water views from all rear windows! Coastal Hammock views with flowering trees from all other windows. Walk down the private shady path under royal palms and live oaks, cross the road to the private beach path to the most pristine breathtaking beach with miles of secluded shoreline. From April to October you will see hundreds of Loggerhead turtle nests.

Old Florida at it's best.
You do not want to ever leave the property. As soon as you turn into the long private driveway, you feel the stress from daily life melt away. A short walk through the lovely shaded private path brings you to the most beautiful, secluded beach. Walk for miles finding tons of sharks' teeth and shells. When feeling adventurous, you can launch kayaks from the lagoon at the house into Lemon Bay- watching curious dolphins come close by. Sitting at the lagoon or from the windows you can see great blue herons, great white egrets, ospreys, anhinga, cormorants, bitterns, yellow-crowned night and tricolored herons, white ibis and green herons. It is no surprise the property was named Heron Cove many years ago! Also dolphins and manatees are often spotted on the beach, in the cove and in the bay.
