We are both designers and love creating warm, inviting spaces for our guests— a home away from home we'd love to stay in if we were traveling ourselves. It's always a pleasure to meet our guests and to give them tips on interesting places to visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Augustine suite in the Brooqlyn. It is a charming, sunny, and clean apartment. The beds were very comfortable and we had plenty of room for three adult female friends. Corresponding with Katie was very easy and she always answered questions quickly. I would definitely stay here again.
We have stayed in many places throughout the world (including New York). I do not think I have ever experienced the level of support and preparedness presented by the management of this property. There is no question that the owners' vision is one of highest quality possible.
The documentation that was sent, in advance, was absolutely outstanding. THEN, we received a quick "extra" note about recent restaurant and other business openings in the area. I found it quite amazing.....really.
We did not actually get to the apartment until quite late in the evening. Again, all went without a hitch! Our experiences (in the past.....especially with historic houses) is that "something" will not work as planned. Not the case here.......
Everything is just beautiful, reflecting a level of care rarely encountered. The kitchen appliances are of high quality. To be honest, I intend to replace my own coffee maker and toaster with ones similar to those we found in the apartment.
The property was beautifully clean. Beds were comfortable. Heating worked extremely well. Public transport is within walking distance. I loved the community surrounding the property. Felt very safe.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment is spacious and everything is in good working order. It is tastefully decorated and beautifully clean and bright. It's a ten minute walk to the subway and in half an hour you're in the center of Manhattan. We loved visiting the sights in the city but were just as happy to go home knowing how cosy the apartment was. There's a supermarket two minutes away, in fact everything you need is within a ten minute walk. Brilliant place to stay.
We stayed at this apartment for 7 days and can't say enough good things about it. All the furnishings and decorations are a very good quality. The decor is warm and very personal. The pictures are a true representation of the unit. The neighbourhood is safe and we never felt uncomfortable. We used the bus and subway and it was painless to get into Manhattan. We ate at Roberta's for supper and it was amazing. The only downside was the parking. We had to move the car every day. Other than that, perfect!
We stayed here with three children (two of them teenagers) and were very happy to have the space to relax at the end of the day. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. It was also warm and comfortable even when it was snowing outside.
The owners were very helpful and excellent communicators - that can make a big difference if anything goes wrong or plans change,
I would recommend this apartment for families. The walk to the subway is flat but it is a bit of a distance so you might reconsider this if you have young children who don't like walking. However, if you had a stroller, then I would not hesitate as it is a quiet street and the lounge and living area provide enough space for the whole family to relax. It is also convenient to have a supermarket about 5 minutes walk away.
The location is great. It's super easy to get into Brooklyn on the bus and subway - and so quick into Manhattan. Plus it really is a great neighbourhood - quiet, great views down the street to the Empire State, store and subway really were close.
The apartment is really clean, warm, well-equipped and comfortable - tons better than any time I've stayed in a hotel in Manhattan.
I've really liked the 'no-fuss' approach - before we booked with the owner, we tried a couple of places via air b+b and we felt like we were being taken for a ride - all the communication we have had from the owner has been really straightforward and honest - and I really appreciate that - it makes such a difference - and the quality of the apartment and the neighbourhood surpassed our expectations.
Many thanks for providing such a great service and great accommodation - we really hope we'll be back.
Straddling the neighborhoods of Bushwick, Brooklyn and Ridgewood, Queens, the apartment is 5 blocks away from the Dekalb Street 'L' train station in Brooklyn—one of the best subway lines in the city. Union Square, the heart of downtown Manhattan, is only 15 minutes away via a direct subway ride; Williamsburg, Brooklyn's stylish boutiques, bars and restaurants are only a 7 minute train ride away.
Ours is a quieter, more residential neighborhood, but it is in an exciting stage of growth. In the last 5 years there has been a huge influx of artists and creatives in our immediate area. As a result, there is now a solid (and rapidly growing) number of stylish cafes, restaurants, wine bars, art galleries, yoga studios, and a great 24-hour gourmet/organic grocery store all within a 10-12 minute walk from the apartment. There are also local Italian bakeries, Halal butcher shops, Equadorian bodegas, Polish food markets and the best tasting Mexican tamales we've ever come across. All relevant information can be found in our Guest Welcome binder in the apartment and we hope that you will explore these local gems during your visit.
