Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful

Two of us - avid fly fisherman, the best of friends since 12, held our "turning 50" reunion at Twin River Ranch. It was one of the most fantastic times I've ever had.
The lodging is stunning, and a model of sustainable living. "Cabin" doesn't do it justice - it's a log home, with a full-width covered porch that would be hard to leave if the river weren't in sight. However..it was. Yay.
Local fly shops were envious when we told them where we were staying - they said 'you may end up fishing there the whole time', which was nearly true. Big, fat feisty trout sucking in PMDs in the morning and nailing grasshoppers in the evening. My first fish was at least 17", and he made half-a-dozen 3' jumps. I could have gone home after that one fish and I'd still be raving about the place. (But it just kept getting better!). The first morning, I had a fish on while my friend was still tying his line. 8 more within the next hour or so.
It's off the beaten track. Good.
It's not a business formula - it's a real place that these folks have lived on for 22 years. Great!
DeeAnn came down in the evening and brought us a couple of fly patterns to try. She mentioned a spot (i'll never tell) with some lunkers, and an hour later my friend had a grin to match the 18" rainbow in his hands. Real hospitality. It runs on solar, but there's Wifi. If you can't imagine being off the grid...well...stay somewhere else and work on that imagination. Then come here.
My only hesitation in writing this review is the hope that there will be a spot in summers to come when we bring families and guitars and spend a whole week. Bozeman and the surrounding area is fantastic, but I'd reschedule the trip to stay in this special place.
Honestly - one of the best stays of my life. Don't miss it.
