We use this lovely retreat as a health retreat center several times per year. In between, it is offered as a special vacation rental.
There is wonderful wildlife, it is very peaceful and tranquil. It feels as if you are secluded in the country, but a 15 minute drive gets you downtown.
Our group of 10 family members stayed at this lovely home and property for a week in Aug. We had bedrooms to spare and no arguments over bathrooms! The property was wonderful too: trails to explore, pool to cool off in at the end of busy days, fitness room, hot tub, VCR/DVD and film library, fire pit, basketball court and my favorite, peaceful porches for just plain relaxing. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, etc., stove/oven, plenty of refrigerator space, and a dishwasher. (Also a blender, toaster oven and panini-maker.) Beds were comfortable, linens supplied. A washer and dryer were available which would be handy especially if small children were staying here. The owners have thought of everything to make guests' visits pleasant and comfortable.
My family, 18 people, recently stayed in this beautiful retreat. We had a wonderful week! The house was comfortable and charming, clean and plenty of different spaces so that we never felt crowded. The grounds were VERY nice, with a large pool, nice pond, walking trails that went through their own little private woods, large yard areas (we had many family games) a basketball court and outdoor hot tub (we loved our nightly soaks there)! The area was great with so many waterfalls and gorges, the lake, parks, museums, the farmers market and more. We did several wine tours, but mostly, simply enjoyed the house and grounds so much! There were barbecues, outdoor games, laughing around the pool and chasing kids along the trails. We loved it so much that we plan on coming back next year, even though we usually change it up!! I highly recommend this vacation house!!!
I stayed at this house with two other families (all of us good friends) this summer and it was an excellent week! The grounds are very beautiful, country park like. The pool is large enough for a big group of people and in an excellent setting behind the house, surrounded by trees. We really enjoyed all of the spaces, the rooms and beds were comfortable and there was good separation of space so that we did not feel as if we were on top of each other. The kitchen is well equiped and the house is very clean and tidy. The wrap around porches were a wonderful place for morning coffee or evening sunsets. We took several area excursions as well (art museum, 4 different gorges, farmers markets, commons, etc) and we really loved the area as well. I would recommend this place highly!
My family stayed at the Blue Spruce Retreat for a family reunion. The place was just perfect. The grounds are beautiful with large trees, gardens and trails, and very private. The house and rooms were clean, comfortable, and very homey. Our family really enjoyed the large pool. Having access to a sauna, hot tub, and equipped fitness room was also a plus!
The area is famous for its many gorges and waterfalls. Also, the fingerlakes wine trail is close by for wine tasting and tours. Most of these attractions are within a 15 to 20 minute drive, there are some that are within a half an hour, such as downhill skiing. The area sports live theater, museums, science and nature centers, artisan shops and excellent restaurants. The Ithaca Farmers Market on the lake and many area artisans are also worth checking out!
