I am a professor of Economics at UCLA in Los Angeles. I used to live in Buenos Aires and part of my family and my wife's family is still there.
Pablo Hopenhayn purchased this apartment in 2006
To use it when we travel home for vacations. That is why it is very nicely furnished and equipped.
Proximity to lots of restaurants and shops. Quiet street. Fresh and happy feel. Very nice common area and roof top patio with BBQ grill that can be reserved for private use. Sauna and Pool.
I came to BA to share three weeks with my partner. This was my first trip to Argentina. There was a delay at the airport upon our arrival and Pablo was extremely patience with us & accommodating to the unexpected circunstances. Pablo's apartment made for a great stay! The apartment is great!, on excellent location!, quiet building, nice neighbors, very clean, walking distance to everything you possibly may need and want. Pablo and his aunt Betty, who cleans the apartment, were super friendly!, reliable, and made themselves available to our needs. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone visiting BA for a short or long term. I'll certainly consider to rent the property again next year. Thank you Pablo! Jon & Beatriz
This is a great apartment. I absolutely loved living here! I just concluded an 18-week stay and couldn't be happier.
I would recommend this apartment to just about anyone with the possible exception of a first-time/short-term visitor to Buenos Aires looking to just do the touristy stuff and nothing else. However, if you are planning to stay for more than a week or so to work, study, or just enjoy the city, THEN THIS APARTMENT IS FOR YOU!
You will deal primarily with the son of the owner. His aunt cleans the apartment and his uncle takes care of any maintenance issues; so, you don’t have to worry about strangers coming into the apartment. It is a family affair.
The superintendent lives on premises. He is very nice (speaks no English) and is around a lot. You will often see him in the building or standing on the sidewalk outside; so, he is aware of what is going on. There is also a security guard in the lobby for a few hours in the evenings. The lobby has a closed-circuit television camera, which is piped through to channel 5 on the television in the apartment.
The television has a nice cable package with both Argentine and U.S. programming. The WiFi signal is strong throughout the apartment and the speed of the internet access is pretty good. I never had a problem streaming video on Netflix or Youtube. Over the course of 18 weeks, the internet went out a couple times, but nothing major. Overall, I would say the service is on a par with my internet service in NYC.
But even better, if you have a Vonage telephone (or similar other service), it will work here! The WiFi base station has extra ethernet ports. Just bring your Vonage device (no need to adapt the voltage or plug) as well as a telephone with you (the modular telephone jacks in Argentina are different than in the U.S.) and you will have your local U.S. telephone with you.
The apartment is fully furnished with a well-equipped kitchen. I only have two minor complaints: 1) The towels were as rough as sandpaper (I ended up laundering and tumble-drying them myself in order to soften them up). 2) The curtains in the living room, which are similar but not the same as in the photos, don’t function.
It is a tranquil block in a quite part of Palermo, which is great. You can have your windows open without experiencing the mind-numbing din of traffic.
I would gladly stay in this apartment again!
I stayed here for a month and the apartment is a great one bedroom apartment. Nice living area with comfy couch with cable tv. Apartment is clean and has everything you need to live.
Bathroom is clean with good water pressure and hot water. Once a week the apartment was cleaned which was very nice.
Wifi works great, the speed is around 5 Mbps, and works in the bedroom as well. Noise level are pretty low for buenos aires standards, you still get some neighbor noise and street noise but nothing horrible.
Overall I was very pleased with the apartment and would stay here again. In fact I tried to extend my stay but apartment was already booked, so now I just hope I can find another apartment as nice and comfortable as this one. Thanks Pablo.
Stayed here for three months, from the beginning of spring to the beginning of summer.
The apartment is fully equipped, clean, and conveniently located. It gets lovely light, and when the weather's nice, you can sit out on the balcony or up on the roof terrace (there is a pool and barbecue area, both well-maintained). Great for hot or cold weather -- the A/C keeps the whole place cool and the floors are heated! There is also a small gym on the ground floor of the building with a treadmill, bike, stairclimber, and some weights.
The apartment is about five blocks from Santa Fe and two blocks from Córdoba, easily accessible by bus. The street also has a bike path. If you like to walk, it's about 35 minutes to the big weekend craft fair in Recoleta or 20 minutes to Plaza Serrano in Palermo Soho. The neighborhood has numerous supermarkets, bodegas, produce shops, cafes/bars, ice cream shops, and, most importantly, bakeries -- including one just next door.
The owners and superintendent were all very friendly and helpful in answering any questions or concerns I had.
This apartment is absolutely perfect for a short or long stay in Buenos Aires. The apartment is a great size, with a large bedroom, a full kitchen, and spacious dining/lounge area, making it great value for money. It is in a great area, just 6 blocks from Alto Palermo shopping centre full of great stores, cafes, fast food, and the subway and bus stations to take you anywhere in BsAs. There are tons of great restaurants within short walking distance, 2 grocery stores within one block and a major supermarket just 2 blocks away. The building is fully secure with a full time building manager and night security. Clean, well decorated, modern, and a very friendly and kind owner.
