About Melissa Myers

Gerry, an etched glass artist, and Melissa, an interior designer, purchased this 'building no one wanted' and our relationship to this historic property has been a longstanding love affair. We enjoy sharing it with others and have met a lot of fun and interesting people doing just that.

Melissa Myers purchased this apartment in 1996
Why Melissa Myers chose New Orleans

Gerry had his Architectural Etched Glass business in this building for over twenty years.

What makes this apartment unique

Our location is like the old French Quarter with similar architecture, hidden courtyards, and very creative people living and working here. It has a village feel that we love.

What a wonderful getaway we all had in New Orleans. After spending all day out either exploring the city or visiting some of the old plantations - what a wonderful feeling it was to step inside this beautiful apartment at the end of the day to "refresh and refuel" before heading out again for dinner and some night life!!! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful place you have in this magical city!!!! For all of you thinking about renting this place - it is great and the owner's are wonderful. It has everything you need and then some - it is close enough to all the action in the french quarters, but still far enough away. Just take the trolley on St. Charles (about 5 blocks away) or at night the taxi's are a great way to make it back to town for more fun!! Go ahead and do it - you won't regret it at all!!! Cheers!!!!

Beautiful spacious 1BR on Magazine Street

We stayed here for a long weekend while visiting our daughter at Tulane. The apartment is stunning! An elegant entry hall leads to the formal living room with very tall ceilings, wide wood flooring, and wonderful old moulding and windows. Decorated very very nicely. The kitchen is updated with nice appliances, but is faithful to the historical feel of the place. It is stocked with everything you need to cook. The king bedroom is large and nicely appointed. Large walk-in closet. The bathroom is updated and pleasant. There is a wonderful outdoor terrace overlooking Magazine Street you can access from the living room. Great for coffee, cocktails, even dinner outside. The owners were as friendly as could be and very accommodating. Noise from Magazine Street, which was a concern going in, was actually not noticeable. The unit is just east of Jackson, with easy free street parking close by. Another block or so east and the neighborhood feels a little sketchy compared to the more upscale area between Napoleon and Washington. That said, we felt safe, the price was great, and the unit itself was magical. We will certainly come back!

Enchanting Stay

There are not enough positive thoughts in the universe to describe our stay. To keep it short there are a few things you should be prepared for...
The arrival is magical, we landed after dark and the streets were so quiet and inviting. We entered through what seemed to be the secret garden entrance...for those of you who have a crazy imagination I would even go with the wardrobe in the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. We then walked up a narrow flight of stairs only to be greeted with a kind face and a warm welcome. Please keep in my mind the owners stayed up for us to properly greet and let us in. The minute we walked through that red door I knew this was the get away of a life time. The ceilings were so high, like a dream, everything covered in white with the perfect color pallet of accents. Interesting pieces around every corner that tell a story of where they had been and who they had seen. We woke the next morning feeling very French and inspired by the space. To walk out onto the balcony overlooking what feels like Paris is indescribable and most amazing. We spent our time making music, taking photos, laughing, indulging in good food just across the street at Maya and planning our next trip! The owners were so very pleasant and hospitable. Would we book the house again? Let me put it this way...I am locking down dates at this very moment for my birthday return. Thanks for the memories, the love, the basket of instruments and most of all thank you for having us on a much needed vacation with my love.

Romance in a perfect location!

We had a wonderful stay in New Orleans in this striking and well-equiped condo. The unit is private, spacious and comfortable. The owners are very accomodating and took the extra steps to ensure that our stay was perfect. Your are steps away from some of the city's most notable foodie destinations here, and only a short trolley or cab ride away from Frenchman Street. My must-go list includes "Coquette", a short walk away from the condo and the best meal I have enjoyed in a long time. Splurge on the "Black Opts" - worth every penny. One the subject of food, you will also find great breakfast tacos at the cafe across the street from the condo as well as perfect mojitos at Mayas, also accross the street. While you are enjoying Mayas' Mojitos order the paella or the flank steak - memorable! We are looking forward to a return visit to Casabianca and NOLA.

Elegant Digs

We had a blast in Casabianca! Two good friends joined my husband and I for a week in New Orleans. We couldn't have chosen a better location. The apartment is a welcome respite. The ambiance provides a peaceful and relaxing experience, and there is enough space for two couples to co-habitate. We found ourselves meeting most often in the kitchen around the butcher block table - mixing drinks and planning our day.

We were sad to find that the Charles St. car was not running (toward the French Quarter), but quickly discovered how to use the bus system. Casabianca is in a great location, surrounded by shops, and a variety of restaurants. A grocery store is only a mile away. It was pretty easy to get to just about every part of the city we wanted - day or night. Since we love the clubs on Tchoupitoulis, this location was especially nice for our late night outings.

As a runner, I loved the early morning jaunts up Magazine to check out all the shops I'd need to return to later in the day!

We would certainly return to this location, without reservations... and we'd recommend it, as long as it was still available for us when we wanted!
