Lilac Corners is a fully restored and renovated 1925 Cape Cod style home situated on one of the most beautiful streets in the village of East Quogue. This home was fully redone in 2012 with every amenity. There is central air conditioning throughout, and three zone heating with radiant heat in kitchen, family room, and downstairs bathroom stone floors. There is a gas fireplace in the family room. There is wifi throughout the property, and Sonos sound system in master bedroom, kitchen, family room and outdoor patio. Sonos can be turned on via iphone or ipad.

One enters the house from a covered porch with ipay wood floor. On the main floor there is a large entryway, the original dining room, and two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and one with twin beds. There is also a full bath, a large chef's kitchen with an island for sitting and food preparation and high-end appliances. The kitchen opens into a large family room with 60' television, blue ray and dvd players, gas fireplace, and additional dining area. At the far end of the family room are french doors that lead to the pool and a large bluestone patio. There is also a door to the patio from the kitchen. The patio has a large teak dining table that seats 8-10, plus a stone table that seats four. In addition, there is a sitting area with a couch, two cushioned side chairs, and cocktail table.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, including a large Master bedroom with an en-suite bath, including a steam shower and jetted tub. The Master bath has a door leading to a large private ipay wood deck. There is another large bedroom upstairs with its own bath, an open office area, and large laundry room with Miele washer and dryer.

The property sits on one-half acre. The backyard includes a 15' x 45' gunite salt water pool, and outdoor shower. There is also an art studio with bathroom, including shower, that is accessible from the pool area. The owners will use the studio for storage of personal items. The rear of the property opens to a small road that fronts onto Weesuck Creek, and includes a 'right-of-way' to the creek, basically a driveway that leads down to the water. There are kayaks available for your use.

We are a married couple, a writer/entrepreneur and artist who live mainly in New York City and spend as much time as possible in East Quogue.

Marissa Bridge purchased this house in 2003

We were working long hours in Manhattan and our children were young, so we decided to rent a summer house in the NYC area. Over the years we rented houses in many different areas, including Connecticut, Fire Island, Westhampton Beach, Remsenberg, and Hampton Bays, before finally renting in East Quogue. We fell in love with the area's proximity to NYC, since it is only a 1 1/2 hour drive to Manhattan. The Hampton Jitney is only two blocks away, so a car is not absolutely necessary. And it is a small town, with all the good that comes with it, such as less traffic and unpretentious neighbors. But it so very close to all the beauty of the Hamptons area, including world-class beaches, restaurants, shopping, etc. For us it is the best of all possible worlds.

We purchased our home becuse we fell in love with the location in the village area of East Quogue. We loved the front porch, the wonderful piece of property on which the house sits, and the good bones of the house itself. Being within walking distance to the town and Hampton Jitney stop was important to us, because although we have a car, we felt that it was necessary to have a house that could be enjoyed without having a car and expending fossil fuels unnecessarily. One can easily walk or bike to the town market, farmstand, or Seven Eleven, and It is possible to bike to the supermarket, and even the ocean beach (our teenage son does it frequently but we confess we haven't).

Our house is located one and half hours drive from Manhattan, in a charming little village unspoiled by all the traffic and congestion of the Southampton and East Hampton areas. It is a 5 minute drive to our beautiful, uncrowded ocean beaches. The cultural activities of the other Hamptons areas are a 20 minute to 40 minute drive, including the Parrish Art Museum in Watermill and the numerous galleries, restaurants and shopping of Southampton, East Hampton, Sag Harbor, etc. There is a great health food supermarket five minutes away, and any and all amenities nearby. It is a 15 minutes drive to Riverhead, which has a wonderful aquarium and the famous Tanger Outlets shopping center, plus every big box store you can name. There are public golf courses in Westhampton Beach, Riverhead, and Southampton.

The village of East Quogue, founded in 1673, is full of character. It has quiet tree-lined streets of homes mostly built in the 1800's to 1930's. There are a few 1950's ranch homes, but mostly the oldies have been preserved or renovated in the vernacular style, as ours has been. It is a five minute walk to the main street from our house, and one can purchase groceries or have a wonderful meal in town. A car is not absolutely necessary, as the Hampton Jitney stops right on Montauk Highway and is a 2 block walk to our home. We have bicycles for your use, and a farm stand and Seven Eleven are a five minute bike ride if the kids want Slurpies.
