This property is located on famous reversing falls in Hancock. It is a short 20 miles from Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor and just minutes from Acadia National Park in the Schoodic Peninsula. It is ideal for a large family as it sleeps 6 at the main house.
This property boasts beautiful sunrise views and reversing Tidal Falls waterfront. Close to many fine restaurants and tourist attractions such as beach combing, hiking, mountain climbing, hiking and biking just to name a few.
During summer months Frenchman Bay Conservancy offers Monday Night Concert at the falls, always great fun for all. Sit on the front porch and enjoy!!!
Useful Info.: Hiking: Schoodic Mountain is approximately 15 minutes away. Schoodic Mtn faces SouthWest towards Bar Harbor/Cadllic mtn or Acadia National Park and over looking Flanders Pond. After your hike up Schoodic Mtn, at the base, go for a nice refreshing swim at Donnels Pond. Worth the wait!!!
Ask a local for direction for Little tunk if you want a small hike through the forest to a beautiful small lake.. This is a local lake that see very few. Sometimes it's like having your own lake to relax and have fun.
Local Favorites: Some of our favorite places/things to do; Schoodic Point - the old Winter Harbor Navy base area, Dunbars Store for crabmeat, Jordans Snack Bar heading to Ellsworth - try the fried clams, Schoedic Mountian hike, Hancock Point and most of all sitting back and enjoying the sound of the falls.
Wow!!! Bring your camera and take a lot of pictures...you will want to re-live your week of memories. We enjoyed the sound of the water rushing over the rocks, saw eagles, seals and morning lobster boats pulling their traps. We were pleasantly surprised by a visit from a deer early one morning.
The house was immaculate and was suit case ready. Everything you could need was in the well equipped kitchen. The very comfortable living room has a large window to enjoy the view of the water. The large deck was our favorite hang out.
The location was ideal for visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, also enjoyed Frazer Point and Schoodic Point. Everyday was busy either mt. climbing, fishing, and picnics at the shore or visiting islands from Bar Harbor city pier or/ from Northeast Harbor. There were six in our family (ages 7 to 77 ) and it is a toss up as to who had the best time. Great place for all ages. Top of our list for a return visit.
This rental is neat and clean with a fantastic deck to view the Tidal Falls. The kitchen is updated with all of the conveniences of home. There is a dining room and a spacious living room complete with fireplace (wood is provided). Another nice feature is the washing machine and dryer in the basement.
The grounds are maintained; there is an additional bedroom/bathroom/kitchenette in the onsite cabin.
I strongly recommend this property for friends, couples (as many as three) or families with teenagers.
