The Orchard is a comfortable single family house that sits on over an acre of land dotted with mature apple trees. It includes 3 bedrooms, a full kitchen and dining room, living room, 2.5 baths, hot tub, and a carpeted playroom downstairs.

We supply everything except food, soap, and shampoo!

If you're looking for a place to party 'till you puke - this isn't it. We know that every so often one person in a group will go a bit overboard, but if your intent is to bring people who will binge drink, please find another house. Payment for damage to the house is the renter's responsibility. Smoking or drug use in the house may also result in forfeiture of your complete damage deposit.

My wife and I personally manage the house, from taking reservations to cleaning the house ourselves between each guest. As you can probably tell from the reviews, we want you to feel warm and comfortable when you visit, as if you were staying at the home of a close friend. And we expect our guests to treat the house as if they were renting from a friend too.

Why is it called Swiss House?: We named our vacation homes after a lodge we stayed in many years ago: The Swiss House. It was warm and inviting, and had a spirit of relaxation and peace. We aim to provide that same feeling of peace and tranquility in our vacation homes.

About Tom Campbell

Lisa and Tom moved to the Poconos in 2010 after living in the NY/NJ area for many years - we understand the needs of local metro vacationers.

Our own house is 2 miles from Swiss House so we are close enough to take care of any problems that might arise during your stay.

Location, location, location. It is about as close as you can get to Camelback mountain without having to deal with all the hassle of the on-mountain developments. The property is large with a big garage, and has room for us to expand.

    The Swiss Orchard House is not a crazy party house. If there is something you wouldn't do at home, please don't do it here. We clean the house ourselves and do our own repairs even though we work full time, so time is the most important thing to us. People who leave the house a mess are showing personal disrespect for the owners. If your friends include Mayhem and Destruction, please don't bring them along.

    (We need time to clean before and after our typical weekend guests)

    2 night minimum.
    Weekly rentals cannot start & end on a Saturday unless we charge for 2 weekends.

    The person signing the lease must accompany the group at the house at all times.

    We ARE willing to rent to groups 21-25 years old, but we limit group size to no more than 6 people and also require that the renter purchase HomeAway's accidental damage insurance.
    Families with children may be exempt from this requirement - please call to check the specifics.

    Reservation Deposit Policy:

    50% of rental and cleaning fee due at time of reservation
    Remainder at least 30 days before check-in date.

I very much enjoyed staying at the Pocono Swiss House. The house was very comfortable and was filled with many necessities. As a first time VRBO user, I was nervous about using the site - however Tom was fantastic to deal with and left me feeling comfortable with our decision to rent for a weekend. I highly recommend this property - short distance to slopes!

We do our best to try to treat everyone as if they are close friends - answering their questions about how the rental process works, what to do in the area, and making sure the house is nice and clean when they arrive. We want everyone who stays at our house to create great memories of their time in the Poconos, regardless of the season.

Perfect!

This was our second year staying at this house and we plan to come back next year! The skiiing was great as were the accomodations. The owners are very hospitable and the house is perfect for our families. This is a great house if you have kids as there is a basement with plently to do. The location to the mountain is perfect and we have been lucky with the ski conditions the last two years. I would highly recommend this house.

We've tried to make our Swiss Orchard house particularly kid-friendly ever since one of our first guests commented how convenient it is to be able to hop over to the house to make some quick PB & J sandwiches for the kids instead of having to feed them junk food on the mountain. Kids also really seem to like the little pup-tent in the game room and the other kid's games that friends and guests have donated to the house over the years.

We're really glad the skiing was good for you too. It's been a great year for winter recreation this year.

This property is very well maintained and spacious. The house is located within minutes of Cammelback Mountain Ski area, one of the best in Poconos. I highly recommend this place if you have a big family and looking for a fun stay.

AMAZING!

This house is has everything you want and more!! We had a girls getaway weekend, and this was the perfect house. Close to everything, sking, shopping, brewery, casino!! The house was immaculate when we arrived and we all felt so comfortable. Tom was so informative and always available! I recommend this house to anyone looking for a great place to stay!! We will be back!!

Cozy and comfortable stay

It is a "home away from home". Every places inside the house are so clean and kept us cool during our stay in the summer of August 2012. The beds are comfortable, good sizes and plenty of extra pillows. Kitchen is fully equipped with utensils, comes with coffee maker (with ground coffee and filter), so many coffee mugs of different sizes, electric water heater pot, toaster, big microwave oven, clean dishwasher (diswasher detergent available), hand soap, kitchen towels, and knife sets. 2.5 bathrooms are clean and plenty of clean and fluffy towels. Separate towels available for the whirlpool. Took advantage of the gas grill in the yard and dinner in the deck while enjoying the live band playing nearby courtesy of Barley Creek Brewery and Restaurant's Pint-Sized Park and Bar. The Camelbeach Resort and CBK Mountain Adventures are five minutes away - no traffic.

Owner's Response: We're glad you had a great weekend - and we especially want to thank your family for leaving the house is such nice condition - it was easy to clean and get ready for the next weekend's guests. Little things like loading the dishwasher and getting it started before you leave save us so much time, and we're very thankful for guests like your family that help us out like that.

You also mentioned one of the really great things about the Orchard's location - while everyone else gets caught in traffic near the Outlet Mall when when they come back from the mountain, guests at the Orchard can be already parked in their own covered garage before other people even get to Barley Creek. There are just two stop signs between the waterpark pickup lane and the Orchard, and one is on the Camelback property itself!
