Great, if you like the exercise!
There is a completely different 'feel' up at my home. Usually there is a nice breeze, which keeps the mosquitoes away. And the views, as stated in most all of the reviews, is spectacular!

I 'discovered' Costa Rica in 2001 and immediately fell in love with all its beauty and diversity. As a home builder in the Northeast, I found it very difficult to build in the winter months. My friend just returned from CR and told me all about how beautiful it was, how friendly the people were and that you could buy property there as a foreigner. On my first trip there, I had no intention on buying a home, but rather to find a lot and build a home, until I found Casa Prieta! I stood in the backyard, overlooking the ocean and islands below the home and quickly changed my mind. This is what I've been looking for all my life. I decided to buy the home and rent it to others to enjoy too. It gives me great pleasure to be able to share such a place and hear what others have to say in my guest books at the home. I hope to share it with you too!
Rick Festa purchased this villa in 2002
Guanacaste is the driest, sunniest part of Costa Rica. There is usually a slight breeze, so no bugs! And of course, you get to see glorious sunsets over the ocean, 365 days a year!!
It's the VIEW, VIEW, VIEW!!!!!! The ever-changing vista is what I like most about my home. You can stay on the beach, but at night, all you see is darkness. At my home, during the day, you see gorgeous views of the ocean, islands, surf, mountains and valleys. At night, you see all the lights below the home. Breathtaking!!
My husband and I just had the best vacation ever! Thank you Rick for sharing your beautiful paradise villa with us.
The views, the sounds, the exclusion all was magical! I heard you are coming right after us. Have great vacation....many, many thanks! :)
We met friends from Ohio for 9 days in Costa Rica and Casa Prieta was amazing! It was spacious and comfortable. It had everything we needed and more. The owner, Rick has really thought of everything. If you ever plan a trip to Costa Rica, THIS is where you want to stay. The view from our house was nothing short of spectacular. Beautiful grounds and trees and flowers. An infinity pool. Birds all around. A 500 ft drop to the Pacific Ocean below us, that made it possible to hear the Ocean at all times. Early sunrise over the mountains behind our house brought out the Howler Monkeys that I heard for the first time. WOW they sound freaky and huge. But, as I learned later in the trip, they are not huge or freaky...they just sound that way. :) The sunsets at our house took my breath away. I've seen a few that were amazing , but this? The sky went from shades of Blue and Yellow, to bright Oranges mixed with a golden ball sitting low in the sky. Until finally, it would turn deep orange and reds and look as though the sky had been set on fire, and then just seem to slip into the ocean.....it really did make me cry it was so amazing. I watched the sun set every night and I was never disappointed. Our housekeeper, Francis was so sweet and did such a wonderful job. I felt like the house was "new again" after she left each time. Every morning I had coffee on the deck while a bird visited me for bread crumbs. Every day we sunned poolside and had fresh fruit blended drinks. And at night after whatever the day had brought, we seemed to naturally end up back at our house early for either swimming or just sitting under that huge sky. It really was perfect...This vacation exceeded every expectation I had, and blew my preconceived notions of Central America out of the water. There are mountains and Volcanoes all around. The monkeys and geckos make cool sounds that I've never heard before. The food tastes better there. The Pacific Ocean is amazing, loud and powerful. The Flowers, even in the dry season are lovely, And the people are gorgeous and kind. Costa Rica is the most beautiful place I have ever seen with my own eyes.
I think I'm in love....
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

The house was gorgeous. Very clean and well kept - great location in terms of views of the ocean and PERFECT for sunset! Although the road leading up to the house is very difficult to drive (it is gravel and VERY steep!) it was still easy access to 3 of the beaches: Playa Prieta, Playa Flamingo and Playa Conchal...make sure to visit all of them. They are great! Also, the location of the house is fairly close to resort areas which made setting up our zip line/ATV tour very easy. Going out at night was difficult as the property is very secluded and cabs do you not come to pick you up. However, we did walk the hill one night - painful on our calves, but worth it to go out and salsa @ Las Brisas! Wednesday night is ladies night there!
Overall we had a really nice time and the house was such a nice-to-have. A comfortable bed, lovely kitchen, amazing views and great pool! We loved it.
We just returned from a 6-night stay in this beautiful home. The views are every bit as glorious as the pictures indicate. We found the location to be convenient with many beaches nearby, as well as horseback riding just down the hill at Bomar Stables (thanks to Marvin and Jose!), and a zip line canopy tour an adventurous drive down the Monkey Trail.
Saludo de Tejas Enrique. ¡El casa Prierta es solamente Pura Vida!Rick, coming back to Costa Rica after a 16 year absence could not have gone better for our recent family vacation6/25-7/2. 1990 was the last time I was in CR when I ran Golfito Sailfish Rancho and I was anxious for my return to live up to my memories. Your wonderful home and the Northern region surpassed our expectations. Our stay in your home was Pura Vida as we drank fresh pina coladas and Imperial beer while sitting in the pool as the sunsets that cannot be matched slowly brought the wonderful beach going, snorkeling, canopy tour, volcano, waterfall, critter chasing filled days to an end.Gracias and of course PURA VIDA - - - Pablo
Thank you for allowing us to rent your house in Feb.We had a great time in Costa Rica. The people there are the nicest we've met anywhere.Traveling around was slow because of the road conditions in places but we didn't have to go far to enjoy the beautiful beaches in the area.We left the house a couple of days early so we could check out the Arenal area. The area was worth the trip.We are already talking about a return trip next winter to cover more of the Country which would include possibly a week at your house if available. Thanks again.

We just returned from our first ever trip to Costa Rica and the beautiful Casa Prieta. This house has the most beautiful view we have ever seen in all our travels. The location was close to great beaches and was within 15-30 mins driving time to Playa Grande, a super surfing beach. The house was outfitted comfortably and the AC worked very well when we needed it.The sunsets at Casa Prieta are truly breathtaking. We had a Costa Rican driver the whole time we were there and he told us that of all the people he had driven, he had never seen such a beautiful view. We were there during the "rainy season" but had only one day without sunshine. The thunderstorms from the house were like watching our own fireworks display. Thanks, Rick, for sharing this wonderful home. We can't wait to go back!
Canopy tours (zip lines), Sunset Cruises, Massages, Private chef.
