Ostuni Apartment Rental Photos and Description
Utterly charming large flat in historical 18th-century Palazzo
Palazzo Auris is a masterpiece of Neo-Renaissance Style. Built and owned by the same family since the mid 1800s, this beautiful palazzo is listed by Italy's Ministry of Arts and Culture as “a protected building of national and cultural interest”, and represents one of the most prestigious and architecturally relevant examples of residential construction in Puglia. It overlooks the central park and it is within walking distance from the finest restaurants and shops in Ostuni and from the medieval, whitewashed citadel.
The entrance is through an imposing door that leads into a stately Grand Hall, where until World War II carriages stopped for passengers to alight and then proceeded to the rear buildings and stables. A majestic staircase takes you from the Grand Hall to piano nobile, or the first floor, where the family resided. These beautifully appointed luxury rooms are now available for holiday rentals.
Palazzo Auris offers two rental apartments: the Garden Apartment (1st floor) and the Studio Apartment (top floor).
The Garden Apartment is a very large flat of nearly 200 sq.m and boasts both a terrace and a charming garden. Situated on the same floor and adjacent to the apartment, the beautifully appointed garden is walled-in and elevated from street level and offers a tranquil and private space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Both the terrace and the garden are exclusive to this apartment and are equipped with garden furniture. The apartment offers 6 large rooms with double-vaulted ceilings: 2 bedrooms, a large lounge room, a second lounge/entrance room, dining room and a large, fully equipped eat-in kitchen with built-in appliances (dishwasher included!). Decorated with design and quality in mind, the rooms tastefully merge modern conveniences with old world antiques.
The Studio is a cosy one-room apartment on the top floor of Palazzo Auris and offers a huge roof-terrace where you can enjoy a stunning view of the old city and the Adriatic Sea. Comfortably accommodating 2 persons, the studio sports a wood-and-marble kitchen niche with built-in appliances and design accessories. It has an ensuite bathroom tiled with Bisazza glass-mosaic and high-end fixtures. Featuring an original fireplace opposite the bed, the studio also has central heating.
Ample parking space, both free and metered, is available nearby.
Nearby Ostuni, at only a 10 min drive from us, you can find the San Domenico Golf Course, a stunning 18-hole golf course on the Adriatic Sea. Few minutes from us you can practice horse-riding and there are archeological and roman ruins and breathtaking architecture: the baroque city of Lecce is at 60 km, while lusty beaches are at just minutes by car . Ostuni is conveniently located at 30 min from Brindisi Int'l Airport and 1h drive from Bari Int'l Airport (both connected to London by Ryanair, Easyjet and British Airways).

...Gianfranco is a great host. He gave us a lot of very helpful advice in sorting out our travel arrangements to Ostuni and whilst we were there he made great suggestions about places to visit. His restaurant recommendations were also spot on
...There are a number of excellent nearby restaurants - we tried a couple recommended by the owner & we were very pleasantly surprised. If/when we visit Puglia again, I'm sure we will return to Palazzo Auris. Avoid the bland & stay here!
...The owner, who speaks very good English, and his charming mother live across the hall. During our visit they were always very friendly, helpful and kind. We enjoyed the feeling of complete privacy, and of having our own 'apartment' right in the center of Ostuni...
Gianfranco purchased this apartment in 2004
Why Gianfranco chose Ostuni
Palazzo Auris is a unique masterpiece of Italian Neo-Renaissance style
What makes this apartment unique
Palazzo Auris has preserved the charm of ancien and noble mansion, it is a dream come true.
After decades of traveling through many countries of Europe, the States and Asia, our stay in Villa Auris in Ostuni counts among the most extraordinary we have ever experienced. The fully equipped apartment on the first floor is sumptuous, surprisingly large and has private access to a magnificent garden of orange and tangerine trees.
We traveled to Italy many times and stayed in many apartments /villas in many different regions and it is safe to say that Palazzo Auris is one of the nicest of them all and definitely will be one of the most memorable one.
If there was one real issue with this apartment, at least for us, it was the fact that we didn’t want to leave it in the morning….:)
The place is genuine and truly unique. You can easily get lost in 7 rooms and garden that make up the apartment. It is full of unique furniture pieces and one really feels history within its thick walls. On the other hand the apartment is well equipped and has all the modern conveniences from well stocked kitchen to nicely appointed bathroom.
onderfully located 19th century palazzo facing onto lovely public gardens, within easy walking distance to the main piazza of Ostuni, with nearby cafes, food shops and excellent restaurants.
All the rooms are large and have high ceilings, large windows, and French doors leading to a private terrace and garden. They are comfortably furnished including some antiques which add to their charm and authenticity. The large kitchen is fully equipped for preparing meals and the dining room can easily accommodate eight people. A useful bonus is having a laundry room within the apartment and clothes lines for drying wash out in the sun.
Convenient parking is directly across the street and is free all night and during some daytime hours.
This is a unique, very affordable, spacious, and practical self-catering rental for two couples or a family.
