Every 3 months the whole family spends some time there. The house is in a nice community called Baden & Baden where people from America, Germany and France live.
You will find a peaceful place, panoramic view of the lake and mountains, very quite, lots of birds, and other animals like monkeys, pizotes. Very close to diffrerent activities like canopy, horseriding, hiking, boating, fishing and several restaurants.
My boyfriend and I decided to take our January vacation in Costa Rica. Not only was this our first time traveling to CR, but also our first time using VRBO. We were very nervous but we had no issues using VRBO and we got our full deposit back the day we left the property-so if you have any concerns, don't!
When choosing our property, we wanted a mix of good tourist area where we would feel comfortable with things to do but without the super touristy resort like feel. With this property and area, I feel like we accomplished that! The night we arrived, Franklin showed us to the property. Both him and Ricardo are very nice and accessible. Whenever we contacted Ricardo, either before or during our trip, he was very quick to respond via phone call or email! He was also very helpful with recommending things to do etc.
The house itself is also great- it is located in a gated area, which made me feel safe and secure. A car is definitely needed for this property, preferably a 4 wheel drive or SUV (something with some clearance) as the roads in CR are not all fully paved. We managed fine with a sedan but would have felt better in an SUV, especially in the rain. (Also, most activities and such are definitely driving distance) The house was great with a master bedroom/bath and deck upstairs; another bedroom/bath downstairs; kitchen with utensils/bowls/etc; another deck off the living room which is gives you amazing sunset views!
The nearby town Nuevo Arenal (5 minute drive) has a grocery store, a bank and numerous restaurants with CR food, Italian, American and German food (so a great variety). The Windcatcher and German bakery were great breakfast spots. Los Platillos, Moyas and Tinajas (Tinajas is 5 min out of town on the lake) are great for lunch and dinner!
As far as activities, we drove to La Fortuna (35 minute drive) to see the waterfalls, go zip lining, hot springs, hanging bridges and hiking.
DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this property with Ricardo!
Our family had a pleasant New Year's stay at this fine home in the Arenal area. Our trip was a bit hampered by unusually heavy rain every day, but the owner, Ricardo, was available and helpful and the feeling and physical layout was wonderful. It is a peaceful place with a fine deck for yoga. You need to find or make your own entertainment here but that was a pleasant change from Tamarindo beach.
What a gorgeous home with beautiful views. Located in a secure gated area with other homes nearby, yet you feel secluded. We enjoyed the large deck just off the living room. Great views for watching sunsets, relaxing in the hammock, having your morning coffee or watching the toucans eating on the banana tree. The home has a huge master bedroom/bathroom on the upper level with another deck upstairs. An additional full bedroom/bathroom is located on the main level. The kitchen has all equipment needed for cooking meals. Only a 5-minute ride to the quaint town of Nuevo Arenal for groceries and restaurants. A beautiful hour drive to La Fortuna (a car is a must for this property).
Ricardo was wonderful to work with, he answered all of my questions via email before the trip and during our stay, he was only a phone call away. He even called us at the home on our first full day there to see if we were happy with the home and asked if we needed anything. Very nice touch. The manager (Franklin) escorted us to the property and met us on our last day to return our deposit (fully refunded). I strongly recommend this property. Great stay. Thank you Ricardo!
Our group of 4 spent a week at this property and really loved it. The proximity to Nuevo Arenal was a plus for getting groceries and restaurants and day trips in the car were easy to any number of great attractions such as park hikes, hanging bridges, ziplining, hot springs, etc. Did I mention the Arenal Brewery??
The house was well equipped with all we needed and the views and privacy were superior.Beautiful place!
The owner,Ricardo, was a pleasure to deal with and called several times to make sure all was well and with suggestions of other things to do.
All in all, a great place to stay and reasonably priced. I would recommend it to anyone I know
We enjoyed staying in this area and the house had a beautiful view from the deck of Lake Arenal. We loved swinging in the hammocks and watching the sunset. The photos reflected the property's appearance.Franklin, the manager, is a very nice man. All in all, this was a nice and affordable place to stay in Costa Rica.
This was the first time that we have used VRBO, and was a bit concerned about wiring money without any recourse. I decided to buy the VRBO protection plan, and from that point my concerns disappeared about the transfer. Over all the financing went smoothly, with no problems.
The Cabin was amazing with a mesmerizing view of lake Arenal and the surrounding mountains. At first walk through, what you notice is the woodwork throughout the house, and the large porches; the largest down stairs and a smaller one upstairs. Both face the Lake, and in the morning and evenings clouds move the though the mountains and across the lake. While there we spent most of the time out on the lower porch, eating, socializing and just watching the environment change before us.
The property is closely located to the town of Nuevo Arenal, which has a German bakery and the “sunset grill “that serves breakfast. Heading south you’re about an hour away from the volcano and the hot springs. Also in the same area are the canopy tours, and zips lines. Heading the other direction, about two and a half hour drive to Monte Verde, an artsy and eclectic town on the edge of the cloud forest. Here are canopy, working coffee plantation tours, and of course zip lines.
The property was more than we were expecting, and the view of the lake made for some great mornings on the porch, with a cup of coffee listening to the toucans, and other animal’s local animals. Very happy with this rental
