Guestbook comments from the owner

This house was one of the first to be built on Emerald Lake and was affectionately called 'Big Red'. From the water, with its redwood stain, it does look like quite a house. It isn't a huge house, but it has a great feel and layout. The bedrooms are spaced on the left and right side of the main living area which is a kind of sunken living area with a wall of glass overlooking the lake. The lake is fun to swim in right from the homes own dock, we had tire tubes which we launched mid-afternoon. We had a special tube for the cooler ;-) and we lazily spent the summer day taking the rays till the sunset. Then to the fire pit where we kept warm. Believe me when I say that even in the summer the evenings are quite cool and delightful...no air conditioning required here, even in July

Beautiful house, great neighborhood. I had stayed in early March but I wish I was here for the summer as the place has kayaks, paddleboat, grill.

Amazing Lake Front Property!

  • 5 of 5

The house is absolutely beautiful! It has a very rustic feel and beautiful aesthetic. The property owner, Andy was so helpful and responsive before and during our trip. It was clean, well kept and close to many amenities. I can't wait to book this property in the summer and enjoy everything it has to offer. I would recommend this stay to anyone looking to get away, without going too far away.

Great spot

  • 5 of 5

Layout is great. Lots of space for socializing, eating, hanging out. All except the kitchen but it keeps a crowd out of there while someone is preparing food so that's fine. All the utensils, cookware you'd need for a week or weekend.

Location is great too. Quiet, lakeside property with most of the neighbors hidden by brush and trees. Most of the view is property backed by the beautiful lake. Lots of space in the back for kids to run around, or even adults. There's some kayaks and paddle boats to take out on the lake if you want to explore.

The house is also in great proximity to the main road, but just far enough away you're not bothered by traffic. It's about 15 mins south into town (tannersville) with outlets, grocery, beverages, etc right off rt611.

Overall the price and stay exceeded our expectations. For a reasonable price, its' a great spot especially for families to kick back and enjoy time on a little homemade private beach, enjoy some crackling wood and hang by the lake.

Note: don't forget to bring your own firewood. It's better than purchasing bundles locally for high $$

Perfect house for a weekend getaway! Owner was very responsive regarding and questions and concerns and provided thorough information prior to arriving. House was clean, great big family room with comfy couch and fire place, big windows with great views from the deck. Kitchen was slightly outdated by had the necessities.

Pleasant Home

  • 4 of 5

The owner of the home was flexible in working with my schedule which was a great help. The home was clean and as described. The view out the windows was great and the acceptance of our dog really made the vacation like home. I deducted a star as the house does have a slight musty odor that is not overly unpleasant but strong enough to notice. Couple people in the house were more concerned with the smell than I was. It is a great location in that you are about 45 minute drive from most attractions in the Poconos. Recommend the house to anyone looking.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review and letting me know. The humidity can be quite bad in the Pocono's that can affect the scent and being on the lake often doesn't help. We will look to put a second dehumidifier in the Grand Room and that should help.

Hated to leave!

  • 4 of 5

I have rented from several places via Home Away and other sites. I have always been successful in finding nice clean places with very friendly owners. However, I am almost always ready to return to my own home once my time is over. In Andy's home however, I had a very difficult time leaving. The property is so gorgeous, the lake so quiet, and the view so perfect, We all were very sad to leave.

I vacationed with my retired parents and our dogs; they have one, I have one. The deck has a gate so we didn't have to worry about our dogs getting loose. It was so nice having our dogs lazing around with us. I took mine out in my kayak (although there are kayaks provided I brought my own since I take my dog in it) and we did great hiking at Camelback.

The house itself is very cozy. While there is room to spread out if needed, it also has a feeling of a cabin where everyone is nearby. Hard to explain, but we loved that about the house. The kitchen is a galley kitchen so it's a bit small, but it was clean as were the bathrooms and bedrooms. I tend to be highly uncomfortable in bathrooms of rentals but I felt fine in this house.

The owner is attentive, kind, easy to contact & quick to respond. My mother is insanely picky about cleanliness and while she had her own initial concerns/worries, she surprised herself with how much she fell in love with this home.

I do not have much more to add by way of house specifics - I was looking for dog friendly that didn't smell like dog or have dog poo all around like some places, I was looking for clean, I was looking for comfortable, I was looking for beautiful views and tranquility. I found them all. Plus a huge gorgeous sky. Just a perfect place I would highly recommend. I hope to go back again asap!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the kind words Ingrid! I never want to leave the house either, it has a certain draw to it. I hope to welcome you and your family back one day. Best wishes, Andy
