Cambridge House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 3)

Ideal for informal short-term lodging/homestay with host who can help you find your way around the area or just offer a comfortable, low-key home base. Shared bathroom. This is not a separate apartment. It is a guest room in my home. If you want deluxe upscale private quarters, this is not for you. If you need a place for longer than a week or two, this is not for you.

Great alternative to expensive hotels & high-priced B&Bs. Especially convenient if you're visiting area universities or if you're a visiting scholar, musician, researcher, parents, grandparents, wedding guests, etc.

Nice place

  • 4 of 5
We came to Boston for 5 days, to visit our children, studying at Harvard. This guesthouse was a very nice place to stay. It's situated in a friendly and quit neighborhood, not far from Potter station. It was very easy to travel by bus and metro, all through the city. Harris, the owner, is very friendly and caring. He made us feel welcome. We could use his kitchen and the garden. He went shopping to get us our favorite ' sugar free yoghurt'. Everything was clean and well maintained. The beds and rooms were big and comfortable.
We went to the Boston harbor islands national park by ferryboat. This was a nice trip and a good break out of the city.

Every thing we expected and more!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I had 4 nights here in early June, 2011 for the main purpose of attending the MIT graduation of our nephew. We also had time to fit in some sight seeing. We found the trip via public transport from airport to the house as easy as the host, Harris, had described. Also the ride from Porter Square to Kendall for MIT couldn't have been easier and we felt perfectly safe walking back after 11:00pm.

The photos of the property are certainly representative of the place, except the front garden was far prettier with an abundance of peonies and columbine which we truly appreciated. Everything was very clean and attractive in this comfortable home where we felt instantly amongst friends as we sipped our welcoming cup of tea. There was always a pot of coffee, fruit and other welcome breakfast items. We took our own cereal and enjoyed many a scintillating conversation with Harris and Svetlana who make the perfect hosts.

Harris was very helpful with suggestions about moving around the Boston area, but we really appreciated the car ride to get us to the MIT ceremonies by 7:45 am and then another one to Porter Square on the morning of our departure which made it more comfortable with our cases. Then when 1 of the 2 of us developed an abscess on the neck, following recent surgery, his kindness and concern really shone through : we were assured of a ride to emergency facilities in the unlikely event that an emergency arose and we were given a cheery "did you take your antibiotic"? each subsequent evening that we arrived back. You couldn't ask for better than that.

We enjoyed taking the Duck Tour, walking around the Harvard Square area, spending time on Boston Common and taking in China Town. Mostly we were there for our nephew so we spent precious time chatting about his plans for his further studies and consolidating our relationship with him. We got to visit the MIT Campus, his friends, one of his professors, his dorm room,

We would most certainly recommend this property to others and in fact we already have! We would go back here at the drop of a hat. It added a whole different and enhancing dimension to our Boston experience.

On the day of our departure we found that we were able to drop our cases at the South Station (red line) on the 5th floor of the bus terminal at the facility known as Package Express. It was $5 per case and enabled us to continue visiting Boston and made for an easy return to the airport.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here for three weeks in October 2010 (with interruptions). Our daughter also stayed with us the most time. We are from Germany and we visited our son who studies in Boston.

Already before our journey we had a very good contact to our host (by e-mail). He answered all our questions. From arrival to departure, we've had a great experience. Harris and Svetlana are wonderful people- they made us feel at home. They did everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We have felt very well.

Everything was like in the description. The property was clean and well-maintained. But it was so much more than this! You can reach the T-station (Redline) in about 10 minutes, also Massachusetts Av. with a lot of restaurants and shops. We often went to Harvard Square, it is a walk of about 20 minutes. We could park our car free in front of the house. We received reduced tickets to different museums and the aquarium. We had free internet in our rooms. We could use the kitchen and the refrigerator -we felt welcome in the whole house.

We would highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone wishing to visit the Boston area . This place is a wonderful alternative to a hotel room. Next time we return to Boston, we will stay there with no doubt.

The hospitality was great. Thank you once more, Harris and Svetlana!
