Three Bedroom, 1 1/2 Baths, Two Dining Area, Two Living Rooms, Fireplace, Two large Decks with Hot Tub Overlooking The River, Jacuzzi Tub, Laundry, Charcoal Grill, Fire Pit, and River Beach.

The house is very comfortable and clean. It is newly furnished and stocked with many extras for enjoying the great outdoors. Fishing poles, frisbee, horse shoe pit, football, and wiffle ball/bats.

The home sleeps 9 people comfortably. Bedroom 1- Queen,

vaulted ceilings, river view. Bedroom 2- Full, antique furniture.

Bedroom 2- Full/Twin Bunk Beds and a Daybed with a Trundle &

Toddler Bed.

We have several family members who are allergic to cats and dogs, so no pets allowed, sorry.

No smoking permitted in the home.

About Patti Reckart

Our family fell in love with The Shaver's Fork of The Cheat River. We live close by in Elkins, WV and love to get away to fish, float and relax at the river. I am originally from New York and my husband is a native West Virginian. We have two beautiful children.

Why Patti Reckart chose Elkins

River Star is a great location. It has one of the best locations to access the river. It is a gradual access (I call it my river beach) into a great swimming hole. The river has riffles above and below our swimming hole. The property also has a beautiful trickling creek that runs through the property. Kids love to play here as well as in the river. The property boasts three lots, with a lot of room to play yard games or pop a tent.

Patti:
Thank you for an enjoyable week at River Star. The house was cozy and comfortable, the fireplace a wonderful bonus in late November, and we really enjoyed sitting outside around a toasty fire in the fire pit watching the gentle flow of the river.
Although very rural and embedded in nature, we periodically kept in touch with the outside world with River Star’s cable TV and WiFi. I was pleased how well technology worked in a house surrounded by mountains.
The inch or two of snow on Friday morning provided us with a completely different perspective from which to see the surrounding landscapes. It was beautiful.
Although just the two of us were here to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary (and a birthday) River Star had enough room to accommodate at least two more couples and a few kids.
We enjoyed it immensely, and we will definitely be back as soon as we can.

Labor Day Weekend Getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at River Star. You never really know what a place is like based on the description and pictures but River Star didn't disappoint in any way. Plenty of space inside and out. The deck, hot tub, and outdoor space was just what we were looking for. It was fairly secluded and private with only a few housed on the remote gravel road yet there is easy access to town.

It was perfect for our two families. Together we had 6 kids under the age of 7 and four adults. The kids had a blast playing in the creek and river. The river was fairly calm and clear and we were able to have some pretty good luck fishing over the weekend. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to cook on the gas grill a few times.

River Star is a great way to get away and fulfill your desire for the great outdoors without having to go without any of the comforts of home.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Another Week in Paradise!!!!

We have stayed at the River Star for several years, first when it was owned by its previous owners, and now with the Reckarts. It is one of two places in the world where we can truly relax (the other is a house in Key Largo, FL). The River Star is well equipped, and the view from the windows and deck is beautiful. Our visit was to celebrate our 20th wedding annivesary, and we can truly say that it was one of the BESTand most relaxing vacations we have ever had.
