The cottage has 2 bedrooms (master with double bed, and second BR with 2 twin beds) and lots of closet and drawer space. There is a full upstairs bathroom with tub & shower. The house has beautiful woodwork with all polished hardwood floors, and many windows and skylights to give a very pleasant ambience. A large outside yard with a high tree canopy provides a truly serene environment.
A separate furnished studio (18' x 21') has heat and electricity but no plumbing / toilet. It is carpeted and furnished with 2 twin beds, armchairs, cable TV, and plenty of closet space. It can be used as extra sleeping space or as a play area.
The downstairs of the house has a livingroom with a fireplace (although we request it not be used), a pull-out sofa, and desk / study area. Internet access and wireless internet is provided. A 26' LCD TV with standard cable access is provided, along with a DVD player to play CD's and DVD's. Netflix, Hulu, and other internet services are available via the DVD player.
The kitchen has full utensils and utilities: stove / oven, microwave, dishwasher, and washer/dryer combo. A toilet is next to the washer dryer, and there is a mud-room inside the back door. Adjacent to the kitchen is a dining table that seats 3 and can be pulled out to seat 6. A pleasant sunroom is just off the kitchen with a couch and chairs for relaxing and/or reading. At the back of the house is a deck with table and chairs, and an outside shower. The lot is just under 1 acre and has plenty of room for games in back. The yard is screened by bushes and trees and is quite private.
The driveway has room for 3 cars or at least one car plus a boat and trailer. The house has approximately 10 steps to the main floor from the driveway. Beach chairs but no other recreational equipment are provided.
We regret that pets are not allowed at the house.
The house is adjacent to a veritable recreational paradise. If you enjoy walking, roller blading, biking, kayaking, canoeing, wildlife viewing, sailing, power boating, or just relaxing on the beach, you will find plenty to do within a mile of the house.
The house is approximately 2 blocks from the Shining Sea Bikeway (walking and biking trail) that runs from Woods Hole for about 10 miles north through Falmouth along the ocean, wildlife preserves, salt ponds, etc. (search 'shining sea bikeway').
The town beach (West Falmouth/ Chappaquoit beach) is about a 20 min walk and only a few minutes by car. A town sticker is required for parking between 9 am and 5 pm in the summer; this entitles you to parking at 9 other local beaches as well (search 'falmouth ma beach sticker'). If you are from the west coast, you will appreciate that the sunsets are over the ocean at the Chappaquoit beach and are very beautiful.
Chappaquoit harbor is close by and there is public boat ramp at the north end of Old Dock Road about 1 mile from the house. Small power and sail boats and jet skiis as well as kayaks can be launched for free there.
The Chappaquoit Grill is a locally renowned bar / restaurant with excellent fare (especially their pizza!) and casual ambience. It is a 2 block walk south on 28A, next to the post office.
The West Falmouth Market is approximately 1 mile North on 28A, and has an excellent selection of baked goods, wine, beer, newspapers and magazines, and so on as well as staples.
Eulindas Ice Cream parlor is just across the street from the Market. You can also get breakfast there, and relax in their very pleasant garden.
The College Light Opera Company is just up the road and puts on shows from June 28 - Aug 27. Walk by and hear them practice on the way to the beach!
