House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

This is a comfortable, unpretentious, home in west Petaluma. The streets are wide and tree shaded, and you are a walk or bike ride away from the historic downtown, the Theatre District and many local parks.

Dine out or dine in, or picnic in the back yard garden. Amble to the Farmer's market (Saturdays) and take your finds home to create in the vintage kitchen or just hang around the house and relax with the modern amenities of WiFi/ flat screen TV/ HBO. Or pretend you're not connected, and play some board games.

You can catch a live act at the Mystic or the Phoenix, or stay home and jam on the piano or guitar. The walls are hung with local art and the organic cotton linens are fresh and new.

Take the scenic back roads west to the coast/Point Reyes, or east to the Sonoma and Napa Valley wine country; jaunt up to SF, or explore local history and antique stores -whatever your plans you'll find Petaluma a unique town that works as well as a destination as a starting point.

'The Old Country' was the term my children used for this house after they left home. Like immigrants to a new land recalling their roots, they always felt a connection to the house they grew up in. We hope potential visitors feel as welcome.

We are just down the block from the Petaluma Boys and Girls club and McNear Park, both of which offer many free recreation options from public tennis courts, to soccer, basket ball, softball, children's play ground, after-school kids programs.

Could not have been more perfect!

My husband, my sister and I stayed here for 4 nights and wished it was for 40! Such a gem of a house. We were made to feel comfortable and at home the second we arrived. The location was perfect, close enough to town and we even had use of the bikes. I think the most amazing part of our stay was the flowers and fruit trees that filled the yard. The smell of jasmine, lilacs and roses greeted us each time we came home. Immaculately clean and well equipped, I highly recommend this Home.

Beyond my expectations, better than any hotel!

I recently relocated from Australia with my young son and chose The Old Country as our "head quarter" for 2 weeks while hunting for a new home. I cannot express how fantastic this choice was. Objectively speaking, the place is ultra clean, fast wi-fi, phone, charming side of town with the cutest houses and trees around, super close to downtown shops and wholefood, comfortable beds and linen, piano, guitar, office desk, all the kitchen equipment and space you need to cook if wanted, laundry, fresh lemon from tree, etc.... But the best part of all it was to meet Patricia the host. She went beyond her hosting duties and cared for us as her own family. She does not stay in the house but made herself available for all the questions I had and I had a lot of them. She will now be our long life friend in our new home town. I highly recommend this place when staying in Petaluma. You will not regret.

Feel at home in Petaluma

The house is sunny, clean, spacious and quite comfortable, with its location its best asset. It's great to be in a quiet neighborhood within easy walks to parks and recreation and Petaluma's wonderful downtown. Though only two of us slept there, our extended family gathered to watch movies in the living room and we hosted eight people for a holiday dinner. The well-equipped kitchen allowed us to cook nearly every night. We are already booked to go back for several weeks in the summer and can't wait to sit in the backyard and enjoy all the lovely fruit trees and flowers. But since we will likely be sharing the house with two other adults at times we would be delighted to hear that the two so-so twin matresses in the second bedroom are going to be replaced soon.

Perfect home away from home

"The Old Country" and Patricia's hospitality were beyond compare. We stayed for four nights with two adults, a toddler and a baby, and were hoping to just relax and enjoy the small town charm. It was an ideal set-up for our family. Everything in the house is perfectly appointed - not too much, not too little. The backyard, front yard, and surrounding neighborhood are all very kid-friendly - we put the kids in the wagon and pulled them downtown and to the Petaluma market every day. Patricia recommended "Train Town" in Sonoma, which was a huge hit with our older boy, and then really pulled out all the stops by taking us to see her friend's chicken "coop" (more like a chicken palace!). Our son has not stopped talking about how much fun he had.

All in all, a great trip made that much more pleasurable and memorable by our stay at "The Old Country."

A little slice of heaven

We were looking for a "home base" between San Francisco and the wine country for a combined family vacation and this house was in the perfect spot. Little did we know that we would enjoy it so much. We cooked together every night while sharing wine, stories and laughter. We especially enjoyed sitting in the yard, among the fruit trees, on those idyllic summer evenings.We had everything we needed... grill, stove, cookware... and we were able to entertain and enjoy as if we lived there. We have many wonderful memories of our stay. Thank you Patricia and Jesse for taking such good care of us and sharing "the Old Country" with us - it was perfect.
