'THE OLD COUNTRY.' VINTAGE HOME WITH SMALL TOWN CHARM.

Petaluma House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

This is a comfortable, unpretentious, home in west Petaluma. The streets are wide and tree shaded, and you are a walk or bike ride away from the historic downtown, the Theatre District and many local parks.

Dine out or dine in, or picnic in the back yard garden. Amble to the Farmer's market (Saturdays) and take your finds home to create in the vintage kitchen or just hang around the house and relax with the modern amenities of WiFi/ flat screen TV/ HBO. Or pretend you're not connected, and play some board games.

You can catch a live act at the Mystic or the Phoenix, or stay home and jam on the piano or guitar. The walls are hung with local art and the organic cotton linens are fresh and new.

Take the scenic back roads west to the coast/Point Reyes, or east to the Sonoma and Napa Valley wine country; jaunt up to SF, or explore local history and antique stores -whatever your plans you'll find Petaluma a unique town that works as well as a destination as a starting point.

'The Old Country' was the term my children used for this house after they left home. Like immigrants to a new land recalling their roots, they always felt a connection to the house they grew up in. We hope potential visitors feel as welcome.

Our family of 3 stayed here during the holidays, and everything was perfect. We loved cooking for ourselves in the spacious kitchen, playing in the backyard, and relaxing in the cozy living room. The location is perfect for walks downtown and to cafes and restaurants. We will recommend to our friends and family, and we will definitely return!

We could not have been happier with our choice. Visited Petaluma for two nights with another couple (ages 40-55). The reservation transaction was smooth, and the owner was there to meet us right on time. We loved all the stories she provided about her kids growing up in that house - a real personal touch. She gave us a thorough tour and told us to help ourselves to the fruit in the yard (apples, lemons, raspberries) which was great! The four of us even used the bikes in the shed to bike down to a diner in town for breakfast Sunday morning. They are mis-matched older bikes but it was so fun!

The house was clean and the beds were super comfortable. My husband and I took the bedroom with the twin beds, but they were pushed together, so no big deal for two nights. Everything was clean and we had plenty of glassware, etc. Especially loved the fresh flowers she put in each room - lovely!

I do not hesitate to recommend this property or owner. I'm hoping we can return to Petaluma in the future and would be sure to stay here again.

Enjoyed our stay.

We throughly enjoyed our five day stay at this vintage home. The pictures are accurate, the bed comfortable, shower good, kitchen well stocked and house clean. The owner very helpful and was available when we called with questions. Loved being able to walk out into the garden and pick apples, pears, figs or raspberries. House is a easy walk or bike (4/5 ? to choose from) into downtown Petaluma through lovely neighborhoods. There is a resident cat, which I loved, but it wouldn't come in the house even in the chilly mornings. We were welcomed with fresh flowers, pie and milk - a nice touch that shows the owner really cares and wants you to have a nice stay. We would stay here again.

Charming, well equipped, spacious cottage.

The cottage is located in a quiet, leafy street in Petaluma and as described in the listing. It was very clean and well equipped to prepare your own meals. The owner, Patricia, left 2 delicious fruit pies and a bottle of organic milk, and even dropped off some locally made bread for us. A gracious host! Petaluma was a good base to visit Napa, Sonoma, Point Reyes, and was only an hour to San Francisco airport. A large Whole Foods supermarket was a 5 minute drive.
The house also comes with a resident cat, Ruby, if you are missing your pets as we were.
Highly recommended for mature couples with a car.

We stayed here for one week with our three young children and had a wonderful time. The house was immaculately clean and clearly well-cared for. Between the fresh flowers in every room and the rose and flower bushes around the house, it also smelled wonderful. We loved the retro feel (a 1950s bungalow, sort of like being in another time) and decor -- the O'Keefe and Merritt "antique" gas stove was a real pleasure to cook with. We walked downtown with the kids several times and browsed Petaluma's antique stores and secondhand shops, and hired a nanny to go out for dinner at Central Market (excellent) and live music at the Mystic Theatre. But we mostly used the house as a home base for driving to sites in the Sonoma and Bay area. I would definitely recommend this home -- we were really pleased with the quality and price.
