There is an unlimited number of things to do from this lakeside house on the shores of Moosehead Lake. If fishing, boating, hiking, kayaking, or rafting fails to move you, lay in the hammock and read a book while the waves lap the shore.
The 'camp' comfortably sleeps nine and is made for a crowd. Two full bathrooms make staying with a larger group feasible. Intentionally equipped without a television, your kids can catch trout from the shore using worms, jump from the dock, go on a crayfish hunt, or try their hand at flat water kayaking. It's all here while mom and dad can comfortably catch some R & R and maintain supervision.

My family has enjoyed use of this retreat since 1976. What started out as a rustic pole cabin has transformed into a house.
Moosehead Lake maintains our devotion, fascination, and willingness to explore after all these years. Our collection of memories continue to grow each season.
We hope you find this place as special as we do.
Ryan Mahan purchased this house in 1976
This is true wilderness and true Maine. Moose, bear, and white tail deer seen every season.
Lakeside, lakeside, lakeside and modern convenience. While we once pumped water from the lake to do our dishes, the house now has a washer, dryer, and electric refrigerator.
You won't find television here -- on purpose.
Excellent place to stay. Very clean and quiet. We loved the views and had a wonderful time
ryan's home was excellent. The views are fantastic. The home was very clean and neat upon our arrival. It was all that I had envisioned and then some. It felt like home to us and we will go back for sure.
What a great home! Thank you Ryan for opening your vacation home to us. We had a wonderful time hiking, kayaking, fishing and exploring all the lake had to offer. The house fit us all comfortably and was exactly as pictured and described. Loved the view of the lake while sitting drinking our coffee in the morning and the stars at night while we sat at the fire ring. We all had one of best vacations ever!
This is not a just another rental house. This is a home and we are so appreciative that Ryan and his family shared it with us for a week. If you like the outdoors, plan your escape. Days filled with hiking, fishing and kayaking. The sunrise is rivaled only by the sunset and starlit sky. If you want to break away from the lake for a day and are game there is fantastic white water rafting nearby. Wonderful family memories made and we are all hoping to return!
Ryan was very accommodating to us and our needs. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed our stay there immensely and hope to go back to the region in near future. Thank you for sharing your little gateway with us, we came back home refreshed and energized. Even our Golden Retriever was in 7th heaven at your place!
Public boat leaves from Rockwood landing to historic Mt. Kineo every hour and a half where you can play 12 holes of golf and take a swim at Pebble Beach afterwards. Short drive to raft the Kennebec River or East Outlet. Boat rentals available at resort in same cove.
