Bill & I built this very special carriage house vacation rental with YOU in mind. Based on over 35 years in the travel industry we created, what we believe, to be a very relaxing, private, serene, comfortable and tranquil getaway. You will love it here!
Ellie~owner purchased this bungalow in 2010
Ellie was born and raised in Montana and her grandfather, Shadan Lahood, was instrumental to her living on the river. When she was a small girl she would take (what seemed like forever) the very long drive from Helena to LaHood Park...about 60 miles and has now created what Ellie calls a modern day LaHood Park on the Missouri river. AKA : The 'Hideaway.'
Our carriage house caters to a romantic getaway. Most of our guests visit us for a special occasion eg: Anniversaries, engagements, birthdays, honeymooners and couples that are just reconnecting. We are rural and away from it all on the Missouri river. We welcome small weddings, vow renewals and elopements.
Wow, what a sweet & special find! The "Hideaway" was perfect for our 8th wedding anniversary weekend get away. We love the thought and care that went into the design of the "Hideaway" & the craftsmanship is simply amazing. Thanks for the wine, chocolate, hiking recommendations and for the sweet hospitality. We'll be back!!!
My husband is a Pastor and we have learned how important it is to get away and refresh to help have the energy and ability to pour into others. Staying at The Hideaway provided just the rest and relaxation that we needed. The Hidaway is adorable, layed out well, and decorated in a soothing and relaxing manner. The special touches our hosts provided (great soaps, fresh flowers, teas, etc...) blessed us tremendously and showed they truly care about their guests having a blessed and special time. The location is private and right on the river providing a beautiful view. We enjoyed just sitting and talking or reading on the loveseat that looked out to the mountains and river. It is so quiet (besides the trains in the distance which we loved) and the perfect place to clear your head from all the noise of the city and noise of life in general. It's a great place to quiet your heart, remove distractions, and hear from God.
The bed is AWESOME. I have never been somewhere where I wasn't looking forward to returning to my own bed.
If you are waivering on whether or not to stay at The HideAway....do it! It will be such a blessing. Words can't describe it...
I can not say enough how thrilled I was with this lovely, relaxing destination. The property is so beautiful and the accommodations, so well done. Every consideration of comfort was provided. It was a wonderful time of quiet relaxation - crackling fires, burbling river, prancing fawn in front of the deck, gentle rain, the zip of humming birds. We will definitely be back!
The hubby and I celebrated our 20 yr. anniversary at this house (being our first time ever to Montana) and honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better experience! This property definitely exceeded our expectations. It's simply breathtaking and just Uh-Mazing! The location is great, so private and peaceful. The online pictures definitely speak for themselves however, there is really no comparison to actually being there in person; It's simply unimaginable! The décor and amenities are all comfy, modern and fully functioning.Whether you're BBQ'ing out on the deck & enjoying the beautiful scenery, or relaxing & lounging in the spa tub you will NOT be disappointed whatsoever! The owners do an exceptional job at making you feel welcome, from the arrival goodies to the fancy bath robe and slippers that also come with the rental. They put a lot of thought and creativity into building this breathtaking getaway that you will not be disappointed. I would absolutely 1000% recommend this house to all of my family and friends and any and all travelers heading out to Montana! Thanks again Bill & Ellie for an amazing & awesome experience for our 20yrs and counting....Until Next time!
The property is located about 30 miles downstream from the headwaters of the Missouri River at the northern mouth of Lombard Canyon. The back deck of the property is 15-20 yards from the western bank of the river, so fishing is remarkably convenient. If you are a railfan, access by road to both the eastern and western sides of the canyon is fantastic -- a 10-15 minutes drive to either rim.
Helena is about a 45 minutes drive, Bozeman about an hour. Lewis and Clark Caverns are also about 45 minutes away by car. West Yellowstone is about a two and one-half hours drive one way, so plan a full day-trip to Yellowstone.
The Hideaway is basically one long room with separate bath, designed for two people. It is part of one large building that includes the owners' residence and a two-car garage. The rental property is separated from the main house by the garage.
The building is new, exceptionally well built and tastefully decorated in a fishing theme, though the feminine touch is readily apparent everywhere -- one of a very few decorating schemes that can appeal to both men and women. My wife loved it, and so did I.
The nearest town of any size is Townsend, and it is not large, though it does support a full-sized grocery store where food can be purchased. Mornings and evenings are quiet and peaceful. Cell phone coverage is good; the internet must be accessed through cell coverage.
I would highly recommend the Hideaway to a husband and wife looking for a beautiful location away from urban stress. This would also be a great place for a single fisherman or railfan. My wife and I slept in the double bed, and I don't know if the couch makes into another bed. If not, it would be uncomfortable for two men.
The owners were extremely friendly and helpful, and they respected our privacy.
I am finally getting to my review. It may have been a while but the experience at the Hideaway was very memorable. It was the perfect spot for a romantic getaway with champagne and chocolate when we arrived. The bed was extremely comfortable and the sounds of the river while using the fire pit made it even more relaxing. We enjoyed every minute of our time here and would definitely come back again someday!
My wife and I stayed at The Hideaway this summer during our first-ever trip to Montana. I can honestly say, with no exaggeration, that our experience was fantastic. We fell in love not just with Montana, but with The Hideaway as well!
The property is EXACTLY as advertised, the location is tranquil and the accommodations thoroughly charming. It's immaculately clean and well-maintained. The kitchen is well appointed, and the furnishings are comfortable, especially the king-size bed... which was so cozy it was hard to get out of bed. It's definitely a great spot for a quiet, romantic getaway.
Our hosts, Ellie and Bill, were lovely people and it was immediately apparent that they've worked long and hard to make The Hideaway as comfortable and inviting as possible. As a project, it's their baby and they care a great deal about the property and the guests who stay there. They had lots of great suggestions for local attractions and restaurants, and were very helpful overall.
During our stay, my wife and I truly fell in love with Montana. The natural beauty of the state is tremendous and ever-changing. There area also lots of small, out-of-the-way gems like Wheat Montana Deli & Bakery in Three Forks and Willow Creek Tavern in Willow Creek. We also enjoyed visiting nearby Bozeman, especially the Museum of the Rockies, which is the leading dinosaur research museum in the world.
Another highlight of our trip was the two days we spent in Yellowstone National Park. The sights in Yellowstone are not to be missed. Most of all, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone was absolutely breathtaking. While The Hideaway isn't exactly close to the park, the park was so amazing, and The Hideaway was such a great place to come home to, that in the end we didn't mind putting in a few long driving days.
Finally, for anyone interested in history, the entire area near The Hideaway is tremendously significant as it sits directly on the route explorers Lewis & Clark took on their famous journey through the American West. When you sit on the back porch of The Hideaway, you are literally looking at a stretch of the Missouri River that those two intrepid explorers navigated over 200 years ago.
To some up, The Hideaway is a fantastic property managed by two wonderful people who are true ambassadors for their great state of Montana. I would, without hesitation, recommend The Hideaway, and the state of Montana, to my any of my friends and family.
We are located on the Missouri River between Bozeman and Helena in a very quiet, serene & rural location. Bozeman Gallatin airport is located just 43 miles away, Helena regional airport is 45 miles and Butte is only 64 miles.
Other Activities: We spent last summer exploring Yellowstone National Park, touring the Lewis & Clark caverns, floating/fishing the river, riding the tour train in Helena, MT, shopping in Ennis, MT, hiking the mountains in the area and soaking in some of the best hot springs around. And our favorite was trying out some of the best little unknown restaurants within an easy drive of the Hideaway. Some of our favorite's are: Pompey's Grill, Sacajawea Bar, Willow Creek Restaurant and LaHood Park Cafe.
Golf: Our nearest Golf course is just 20 miles away in a quaint Montana town of Three Forks.
Ski: We prefer skiing the local mountains such as the Great Divide~Helena, Showdown~Niehart, Discovery~Anaconda and Bridger~Bozeman. If you prefer a more resort style skiing experience Big Sky Ski & Resort is just an hour and half drive!
