Overview

Orvieto Apartment Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6 - 7

Located in the historical center of Orvieto - just minutes from the Duomo, main shopping areas & restaurants - this apartment is your home away from home. It's a short distance from the train station & is the ideal place to stay while you explore Orvieto as well as other cities in Umbria, Tuscany or other regions of Italy.

The apartment is quite spacious with a kitchen, dining/living room, 2 full bathrooms, 3 bedrooms:1 room with a king size bed & 2 rooms with 2 single beds & also another single bed that can be moved into any of the rooms to accommodate a 7th person. The apartment also has a terrace overlooking the picturesque countryside and offers invaluable views of the surrounding land. The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, 4-burner gas stove, electric oven, dishwasher, french press and a clothes-washing machine.

The apartment is located in a small piazza where street parking is available should you need it and also has free Wi-Fi. It is conveniently located and easy to navigate the beautiful streets of Orvieto where you will find many typical restaurants, taverns, pizzerias, internet points and any sort of shops you may need.

The apartment is all on one level but there are a few flights of stairs (1 inside the foyer to get to the apartment) to climb but they are not very steep. As soon as you step out of the building you can find a city filled with art, history, and beautiful architecture as well as places to relax, eat, drink and enjoy the traditional things that make Orvieto one of the most enchanting cities waiting for you to discover it!

My name is Fabio and I am 34 years old. My family has owned this apartment since 1998 but it has been in our family as far back as the beginning of the twentieth century. Palazzo Benincasa was once owned by Pope Paul III and used to be the summer vacation home for Pope Clement years ago. St. Catherine of Siena is said to have also been a frequent guest.

I am involved in the 'wine world' and we also have an estate where we grow olives, grapes as well as produce our own olive oil (available for you to taste at the apartment). My wife, Andrea (who is from MA, U.S.A.), has been managing the rental of our apartment with me and is also available to assist you in any way. She is very kind, warm, and efficient. Andrea speaks fluent English and is currently taking Italian lessons.

Availability, hospitality and warmth for all of our guests is our trademark. I too speak English fluently and can help you with any of your needs. We look forward to hosting you in our beautiful apartment soon!

Should you have any questions or additional needs, please do not hesitate to contact us and inquire.

Guestbook comments from the owner

You gave us the best time in our trip throughout Italy! In Orvieto, everyone was so welcoming. Our favorite places were La Palomba, Antico Bucchero, and Montanucci. The chocolates at Montanucci are extraordinary! We love the many antique and modern features of the apartment - lots of hot water - beautiful furniture. You are spectacular hosts in every way. We do plan to return and hope you will be our guests in the U.S. some time soon.

P.S. Andrea rivals the concierge in top hotels!

Perfect Home Base

  • 5 of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed our month in this very comfortable apartment and highly recommend it to other travellers.

The listing photos are true-to-life but fail to convey the vast size of the apartment. Views from windows in the long hallway and the master bedroom are as spectacular as the view from the little balcony. The other two bedrooms overlook lovely quiet courtyard gardens.

The apartment is centrally located and and easily accommodates 6 adults. All 3 bedrooms are hugs, beds comfortable, ample supply of linens, two very functional bathrooms, lots of hot water, well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, large (for Europe) refrigerator and a very good gas cooktop/electric convection oven combination. The washing machine requires coaxing to perform the spin cycle and the sofa and chair in the sitting area are a bit shabby; but these are minor quibbles given the overall experience.

Orvieto has a twice-weekly market, on Thursday, and Saturday, and there are two small supermarkets and many little specialty food/wine shops, all within easy walking distance of the apartment.

Andrea and Fabio exceed expectation as welcoming hosts. Andrea was quick to respond to our questions and concerns and their willingness to make restaurant reservations on our behalf was particularly appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed having a meal with them at one of their favourite restaurants on our next-to-last night in Orvieto.

Orvieto is a beautiful town with many worthwhile sights and excellent restaurants. It's also on the main rail line between Rome and Florence ... the perfect base for exploring Tuscany and Umbria. Don't miss it!

Grand History Meets Modern Comfort

  • 5 of 5
We vacationed in Italy for the last eight days of August and based our stay in Orvieto. I was greatly impressed by the town's unique combination of historical beauty and modern amenities. Well-kept cobble stone streets, snug pathways to explore, and grand structures like the famous Duomo made us feel like we were transported to the middle ages, while the terrific restaurants and shopping provided comforts and familiarity of modern life. The town's people were all exquisitely friendly and welcoming.

Our apartment was perfect. Located in an ideal spot for exploring the town, it was very spacious, airy and possessed tremendous views of the countryside.

I could not recommend this property, and the town of Orvieto as a whole, more.

Amazing Italian Experience!

  • 5 of 5
Orvieto is a gorgeous town and I think you're really missing out if you don't visit it during a trip to Italy. The town itself is full of history, great views, amazing restaurants, quaint shops, and staying at this apartment is the icing on the cake.
The apartment itself is gigantic. Very spacious, even for a group of 6 or 7. It has everything you could possibly need, including appliances, full kitchen, two full bathrooms, wi-fi, iron, hair dryer, etc. It's also very clean, and you're provided with extra blankets, sheets, and towels. Also, there's a table of a bunch of brochures and info about things to do in Orvieto and also expansive details on how everything in the apartment works which is really helpful.
Now...onto the good stuff...THE BALCONY!!! By far the best thing about this place is the view from the balcony. Those pictures included above in the listing details are nice, but they truly don't do it justice. You need to see it in person. You're missing out if you don't catch at least one sunset from this balcony.
The other best part of staying here is getting to meet Andrea and Fabio, the owners. They're both warm and welcoming and you can tell they really love Orvieto and take pride in the fact they live there. Fabio grew up in the town, and his dad was a former mayor, so he is really a wealth of information about the history and where to go. They'll recommend great spots in town to eat and drink and since they have such strong connections to everyone in the town, you'll really be treated special if you dine out with them. They really love to meet their guests and dine out with them, but they're fine to leave you be and do your own thing if that's what you'd prefer. But I personally think you'd be missing out if you didn't spend some time with them. They're both incredibly friendly and interesting, and you'll learn so much about Italy, Orvieto, food, olive oil, wine and so much more just by chatting with them. Their family produces olive oil and wine so they're really knowledgable about that. Oh, and as a bonus, there will be a bottle of each waiting for you upon your arrival which is really delicious.
If you're planning a trip to Orvieto, I highly recommend you stay here. And if you're planning a trip to Italy and have yet to include Orvieto on the itinerary you'll really be missing out on an incredible experience.

Wonderful Stay, Spectacular views, Gracious Hosts

  • 5 of 5
Fantastic apartment! Very large and spacious, with spectacular views from every window, especially the view of the sun setting from the terrace. The apartment was even better than the photos.

We flew into Rome for a couple of nights and then took the train to Orvieto for a week in the countryside, and received a warm welcome from our host , Andrea. Everything you need is here and the hosts provided suggestions on local sights and day trips and also provided us with some lovely regional wines, and delicious olive oil from their family’s business.

The town is within easy walking distance and we spent a lot of time wandering the streets of Orvieto, enjoying the breathtaking views, shops and restaurants, and of course the gelato! This wonderful hill town is a great base for day trips by car or train.

Andrea and Fabio, along with the entire family made us feel very welcomed.
Thanks so much Andrea and Fabio for your warmth and hospitality! I highly recommend this property to friends and relatives.

Sweeping views, spacious and elegant decor

  • 5 of 5
This is one of our favorite rentals. All over the Orvieto hilltop, everyone knows the family that owns this histoirc palace apartment. The apartment is elegant and huge. One bathroom can be accessed from the hall or bedroom making it convenient for families. Amazing views. we went to dinner with hosts at La Palomba, we split the bill and it was the best meal experience of our whole 2 week trip. We walked everywhere. Andrea could not do enough for us. World's best FRESH chocolates at Mantanucci's and great lunches (ask Andrea for dinner recommendations).
