Extraordinary setting!
We did a double take when we pulled up to Schooner Island on our pontoon -- this GIANT house on a private island was where we were staying! We were even more excited once we saw the beautiful, rustic interior, gleaming chef's kitchen, lovely bedrooms and clean bathrooms. Sarah provided everything we could have possibly needed, including helping us with directions to the marina when we got a little lost. The towels, sheets and beach towels are pristine and clean. The kitchen was loaded. High end washer and dryer, two refrigerators/freezers. We had 6 children and 4 adults staying with us, ranging from 1-15 -- all had a blast! There were board games, cards, a toy chest filled with toys, not to mention an island to explore. My son loves pirates and thought the ship's wheel decoration outside that you could actually steer was so cool. For the adults, there is a charming porch to have coffee and watch the sunrise, and a gorgeous wraparound porch with lawn chairs set up to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset over the river.
The hardest part for us was boating to he island and back to shore with all the kids, but it is literally less than a 2-minute boat ride from Wagoner's marina, a small price to pay to have use of an actual private island. We will definitely consider going back next year!
