Very nice and charming apartment (55 sq M.) in a recently renovated canalhouse, built on one of the smaller canals (lijnbaansgracht). Located in the old city center in the district called the 'Jordaan' .
The Jordaan is a lively but quiet, picturesque, local, authentic, safe and friendly neighborhood, scattered between and around the Amsterdam canals. It is just off the noisy commercialized tourist zone but with everything right on your doorstep: small streets and squares, tree-bordered canals, loads of monuments, a variety of small restaurants, bars, terraces and all sorts of shops (amongst which supermarkets, bakery, evening shop, etc.). There is a street market around the corner every Saturday (also organic food) and Monday (also flea market). Amsterdam Central Train Station is only a 15-minutes walk away. Anne Frank House only 5. You can get everywhere easily by foot but if you prefer also by public transport
The apartment has a private entrance. Once inside the apartment you enter the living/kitchen (ground level). The living has a very nice couch. Through the windows you can see the boats pass by. The kitchen is fully equiped. A good bottle of Chardonnay awaits you. The nespresso coffee machine is ready. George Clooney made sure there is a supply of cups.
The stairs down lead to the 'souterrain' where the master bedroom is located. Attached to it is a small second bedroom 'or attached unit' (6 sq. meters) where you can find a bunkbed and a closet. The bathroom is also located on this floor. It has a very nice and large bath and a shower unit.
The whole apartment is tidy, new and clean and has a very nice wooden floor.
The apartment is easy to reach from Central-Station by citybus 21 (4th stop is Marnixplein) Only 2/3 minutes walk to the apartment.

My name is Danny, I am married to Larissa and we have two kids, Sarah and Yuri.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2011
We decided to buy this apartment because we have seen it being completely renovated and we really like this area. I live in this neighborhood for 13 years now and we love it. Its the city, but it feels like a village.
The apartment comes in very handy because my wife and I have family living abroad. My brother lives in Spain and my wife's brother lives in Brazil. Now, when they come to Holland they have a home.
Amsterdam is great by foot, bike and boat. Bikes are available everywhere in Amsterdam (nearest on Bloemgracht).
I also own a small boat. If the weather is fine and my schedule allows it, maybe I'll take you for a ride. If not, there is a rental company nearby. It's really worth your while.
The apartment is brand new, clean and comfortable.
Just spent 4 lovely nights in this apartment (family with two teenage girls). What a great find.
- Helpful and friendly owner, lives nearby
- Well equipped and comfortable apartment (the photos don't do it justice, for a small apartment its quite big, and very comfortable.
- Great location. Loved walking from the apartment to the city centre, alongside canals. For the museums, etc we bought a day ticket for the tram (just behind the apartment)
- Easy to get from airport (we pre-booked a taxi, with Tinker, mret at airpoty and at apartment in 20 mins (only 27 euros)
- Great views, watching life go by on the quiet canal.
- Supermarket, restaurants, cafes all nearby
Would highly recommend this place.
I am a quite late to provide my evaluation but as I was recommending this apartment to a friend and read with him the positive critics I decided to add my grain of salt. We stated 6 days in June 2013 and not in august 2013 (system was not taking the true date). We were fully satisfied with the apartment, the environment. The owner was very helpfull and attentive to our needs. Grocery stores are near by and we can walked to most museums, the train station. The bedrooms are downstairs and very steep and narrow. This in not good for persons with some disability to walk. I am 70 and was able to carry our luggages down and up without any difficulties.
I rent in Amsterdam often and have stayed in a variety of places. The Jordaan is a great area and you're very close to a few trams to help you get around. There's a bike rental shop nearby and plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. nearby. You can easily walk to the town center, or even the central train station, but the trams are very close and easy to use.
The place itself is great - well furnished, even a little stylish. The bathroom has a large shower and separate bath - very clean. Kitchen had all of the tools/utensils for making a meal - and again very clean.
The owner is incredibly nice and really went out of his way for me. I couldn't really ask for me. I would absolutely recommend this place to others.
I would highly recommend this property. It was centrally located on a charming canal in the Jordaan. Owner very welcoming right down to a bottle of wine in the refrigerator. Nicely furnished.
We stayed here for 5 nights with two small children in late January 2014. We loved the apartment, the location, the convenience, the styling and the homliness of the place. It had everything we needed including a portable cot for our 15 month old and our 3 year old loved the bunk bed. Kitchen was well supplied with plates, glasses and bowls and a microwave/oven combo that was useful for preparation of warm breakfasts for our jetlagged little ones. Fortunately the 15 month old wasn't walking at that stage or the staris would have been an issue. Mr 3 had no problem going upstaris to the toilet in the night.
Overall decidedly pleasant and added to our enjoyment of our first time in Amsterdam.
