OCEANSIDE RETREAT CLOSE TO THE TIMELESS BEAUTY OF ACADIA NATIONAL PARK & MDI

Acadia National Park Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Oceanfront Cottage Nestled in Tall Pines With Beautiful Sunsets: Sleeps 6

Gorgeous sunsets, waterfront cottage very close to the water, lots of light and warmth, two fireplaces; Master bedroom with ocean views/sleeps 2 in a queen size bed, 1 bedroom with 2 twin beds; 1 pull-out couch/futon sleeps 2 in the great room with amazing ocean views; 1 bathroom with shower; kitchen, reading nook with fireplace & ocean views, living room/dining room with ocean views, gas grill and patio with outdoor seating and a small side deck. Acadia Bayside Cottage is nestled in a grove of tall pines.

By car, our cottage is approx:

10 min to seafood restaurants/lobster pounds just off of Route 3 in Trenton along the route you'd follow onto Mount Desert Island (MDI).

10 min to the head of Mount Desert Island which is an area known as Town Hill, but is officially part of Bar Harbor.

20 min to one of the main Acadia National Park entrances near an area known as Hulls Cove, but officially part of Bar Harbor. There's more than one entrance to the park on the island.

25 min to downtown Bar Harbor where there are many restaurants & shops, 3 pharmacies, movie theater, grocery stores and much more.

20 min to closest hiking trails (trails and carriage roads can be accessed all over the island)

10 min to Ellsworth (not on Mount Desert Island) - where you'll find restaurants, movie theaters, grocery stores, pharmacies, Walmart, TJ Maxx, L.L. Bean and other stores. Main Street in Ellsworth, which leads down to a small bridge & river, is a nice part of this small city - sort of an old fashioned downtown with some interesting shops and restaurants.

You'll find restaurants along both sides of Main Street. The Union River Lobster Pot is just over the bridge and nestled along the river just behind Rooster Brothers specialty foods store & has excellent seafood. There are also some chain restaurants along Route 3 in Ellsworth.

Our family just purchased the cottage this winter of 2014. The previous owners used the property mainly for their own use, so it's the first time it's been listed on the VRBO/HomeAway sites. That's why there aren't many weeks booked as of yet or reviews.

We offer a 5% discount for multiple week rentals.

I was born in Maine to parents 'from away' as they say and grew up in mid-coast Maine. Although I sought adventure in far away places during my 20's, I chose to return to this amazing state because there's no place quite like Maine or like Mainers.

In the past, I spent more than two years studying anthropology and sociology at the University of Vermont in Burlington. I also spent a year in Egypt, studying at the Arabic Language Institute at the American University in Cairo, followed by a term of Middle East studies. I hold a B.A. in international affairs with a minor in anthropology from the University of Maine in Orono.

In past years, I've worked for the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School in mid-coast Maine and am an alumna of three of their programs.

For several years, I led cultural and educational tours primarily in the Middle East, but also in the United States, Canada and Europe. This work led to the founding of my own educational travel company, which I operated with my husband for several years.

In recent years, I've worked in Maine in the areas of public health and geriatric social work. Before recently joining the Institute for Humane Education in Surry, I worked at the College of the Atlantic in the Office of Institutional Advancement in Bar Harbor.

I happily live on Mount Desert Island with my husband, son, daughter and a rescued racing greyhound named Chester.

Kim Childs and Doug Michael purchased this cottage in 2014

Over the past several years, my husband and I have been looking for a very special property, and feel lucky to have finally found all we were searching for in our Acadia Bayside Cottage. This cottage has everything we were looking for - a beautiful, oceanfront setting, vibrant sunsets to gaze at in the evenings and a location very close to Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. This cozy abode quickly felt like home to us and a place we could envision spending a lot of time - without having to drive far to feel like we were getting away from it all.

Acadia Bayside Cottage has a presence - a strong sense of place - which quickly draws you in and invites you to relax & live in the peaceful moments we hope you'll experience while enjoying our little slice of paradise!
