East Hampton House Rental Photos and Description

House, 5 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 11-12)

***** LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! *****

******* Heart of East Hampton Village *******

******** 5 Bedroom with Heated Pool ********

********* WALK TO EVERYTHING! *********

For the ultimate in convenience this large 5 bedroom house is located on Osborne Lane in the heart of East Hampton Village. A short stroll down the sidewalk brings you to all the variety of interests East Hampton is known for. From the windmills, art galleries, museums and theaters of Main Street to the restaurants, bars, and designer shops along Newtown Lane nothing is more than a few minutes walk out of your front door.

This 1930 traditional is tastefully furnished with a combination of period pieces and modern amenities to help transport the guests to the simpler time of small farm-based community living without sacrificing the standard of luxury for which East Hampton has become synonymous

The house has an great flow with an open sunny living room framed on one side by a large wood burning fireplace and mantle, set into the room on a bias. Past the fireplace and through a set of wide French doors, you are led to to the formal dining room, fully furnished with a fine China service for 12 should you wish to host an elegant dinner party.

The dining room opens out onto the sun-drenched back patio where you can pick some fresh growing mint for a refreshing Mojito or homemade ice tea. The patio has matched seating Too much sun? A simple flick of the switch extends a motorized electric awning to shade the whole patio and protect your delicate complexion.

The fully stocked kitchen has recently had all of the original 20th century cabinetry stripped and restored including period details such as the built-in bread drawer and a few select functional period pieces like the 1952 Sunbeam Mixmaster stand mixer and Oster beehive blender seem to make everything taste a little more like they were made with your grandmother's gentle TLC.

All of the large appliances are modern and updated. A new LG Fridge with bottom freezer rounds out the appliance package including a the top of the line Kitchen Aid dishwasher (with High Heat Sanitizing Option), a GE range with extra-low simmer burners, and high efficiency front loading washing machine.

Provided for guest use are also a dazzling array of small kitchen appliances including Juicer, Espresso Machine, Smoker, Ice Shaver, Automatic Bread Maker & Food Processor as well as Microwave and Toaster. There is even an electric food crisper for those who want to keep the snap in their chips even on the most humid days.

There is also a second refrigerator located in the back pantry & vestibule. This small room, which sits on the first floor behind the kitchen, laundry, and full bath, opens out onto the pool area and is set up to serve the pool with towel storage and outdoor serving gear & games as well as this utility fridge.

The second floor has 3 bedrooms as well as a den / sitting room. Each of the bedrooms has a queen bed, cable TV, and independently controlled A/C unit with remote. There is also a conventional ceiling fan in each bedroom for those who do not wish to use A/C or to enhance the performance of the A/C.

There is a full bath with tub on this floor which was recently renovated with a new marble floor and completely new tiled shower enclosure. The upstairs sitting room is furnished in a period Art-Deco style and contains a beautiful full-sized bed as well as a reading library with a variety of art books, cook books, children's books, and books on local history and activities.

There is also a shared linen closet and stairway leading up to the finished attic which contains two more large rooms. One of the attic bedrooms has a Queen bed and the other contains two matched twin beds and has a decidedly child-friendly feel, containing several pieces of child-scale furniture including musical rocking chairs.

After bringing the kids to the children's playground in Herrick Park or playing some tennis, softball, Frisbee or soccer there yourself it is barely 5 minutes until you are cooling off in the heated pool located in the privacy of a backyard completed surrounded by groomed hedges and mature plantings. There is also a large side yard which is big enough to set up a volleyball or badminton game.

About Sean

I am a film industry professional and real estate developer who has a passion for restoration, historical perspective and the tasteful details that make a Village like East Hampton keep such a sense of community. I am passionate about local food and like to garden both for the beauty and also just to get my hands dirty.

Sean purchased this house in 2000

Why Sean chose East Hampton

Known worldwide for it's stunning natural beauty and combination of fertile soil and seas as well as a climate tempered by both the Atlantic Ocean and Peconic Bay, the East End of Long Island is quite simply a natural paradise. The spectacular natural light that graces these shores has been bringing painters and artists here since the 19th century. The pristine white-sand beaches that were once celebrated have been one of the great cultural equalizers from the Gatsby era Wiborgs and their guests, who were the actual basis for many of F. Scott Fitzgerald's characters,

What makes this house unique

One of the greatest benefits I get when staying at this property in East Hampton is just seeing my neighbors and visitors a during my frequent walks to town which is only a few hundred yards away. I love visiting the volunteers who staff LVIS (The Ladies Village Improvement Society) and finding bargains.

Loved everything about this place!

  • 5 of 5
Why we love it:

1. LOCATION
Hands down the best location we could ask for. We wanted relaxation as we live in Hong Kong we wanted peace and quiet. But we also don't want something so secluded that going to restaurants, shops and some city life necessities (yoga class or spa treatment) end up being a chore. This house is so close to the best restaurants Hamptons has to offer - Babette's, Nichol's Serafina, Nick and Toni's among the too many of them to mention. I sweat we never had a bad meal. When I mean close, it is close because we walked to almost all of them (except Nichol's which was a 3 minute drive)

The main street beach was really close, a 10-15 minute bike ride. The shopping was topnotch as you get a selection of a well curated retailers which are again a 5 minute walk from Sean's house.

2. CLEAN, WELL-EQUIPPED AND COMFY EVERYWHERE
Sean's house was made and decorated for someone to be living in there. Not the type that's all polished, stainless steel and concrete. The most important for us is that it's clean and functional and we got it. This house doesn't aim to give hotel standards, or make you feel like you're in a serviced apartment. And that's what we love about it. As soon as you walk in, you will feel the warmth of the place, a house with a character that you can almost believe that it's your own after a few days. That's how comfortable it felt for us to be staying there.

And this house has everything you need. Bread maker? Check. Bicycles of various sizes? Check. Condiments of all sorts, everything really. We had more than what we need. The pool was ace. The dinning area was our favorite with lots of sunshine in the morning.

3. THE HOST
Sean was the most accommodating and attentive host ever. Beats every concierge I've met! And we've travelled all over the world in top cities from London, Tokyo, Milan etc. He will list everything from food, farm fresh eggs, train schedules even booked us a spot on the jitney just in case we decide to take it back to the city.

I could go on and on about this place. This has got to be one of my favorite holidays ever!

Owner's Response: Wow Jennifer, I am so glad you had such a special time at my house and I can see that it's character and warmth were truly appreciated. That means something to me.

You were not my typical renters as there were just the two of you, but I am happy we could work out an arrangement within your budget for you to stay during what is often my favorite time of year to be there. The weather certainly could not have been better for you to enjoy all the area has to offer.

I could tell by the condition in which you left the house that you were thoughtful stewards during your 9 day stay. Thank You for taking such care, it makes any time I spent to facilitate your enjoyment during the rental all worth while.

I do hope I will get the opportunity to play host again to you when your travels bring you back to this hemisphere. By then I am hoping to have finished the Artists' Studio into a small separate apartment and should be in a position to again offer the type of discount to an individual couple that I was able to offer you this year.

Wonderful Stay!!

  • 5 of 5
A group of us rented this house for a long weekend and had a great time! The location is ideal -close walk to everything!! The house was extremely comfortable, and the pool/huge yard/volleyball net/bikes/BBQ grill added to the overall entertainment of the weekend. Sean was very nice, professional and easy to coordinate with throughout the process. We look forward to staying in this house again soon...next time for a whole week!!

September Hamptons Weekend

  • 4 of 5
I went to this lovely home in early September with six other girlfriends for a very low key bachelorette party for my sister. We didn't have the greatest weather, so we were not able to use the pool, but the house was a really great size and was very comfortable for us on those rainy days. We all slept incredibly comfortably and had our own rooms. Our favorite part of the trip were the recommendations of places to see and visit that our gracious host told us about. Our favorite, Mecox Farm where we picked up a chicken! I have been going to the Hamptons for years and have not known about the hidden gems that our host knew of.

Owner's Response: I am always a little hesitant when I hear the words "Bachelorette Party" but this really was a low-key affair as promised and I look forward to hosting Hayley and her family again.

I am happy to hear that my suggestions worked out well as I do try to give each renter the individual attention that I hope helps them to get the most out of the local East End experience.

The chickens, which actually come from Iacono Farms just 1 mile down the road, are my top recommendation for a home-cooked meal and are truly the freshest & tastiest I have ever found.

Beautiful Property

  • 4 of 5
We are repeat renters, having returned for 3 straight years for 2 weeks in August. The grounds, patio, and pool are gorgeous. It is an incredible piece of property. You can't beat the location - 2 blocks from Newtown Lane, the heart of East Hampton shopping and restaurants. Walk to all. That's huge.

The house and property work very well for us - with enough room for me, some guests, and teenagers on the top floor. The top floor is great for teens - sleeps 6, but does not have a bath. Also the stairs to the top floor go through a BR. Not a problem for teens in that BR. 2 full baths accommodate everyone. I might recommend installing an outdoor shower to take up the slack and beach sand.

A con is the kitchen which is old and small. Not such a big deal for us because we visit in summer and the large outdoor grill suits most of our needs. A plus is a 2nd refrigerator in the backroom to keep plenty of cold drinks.

We've had a wonderful experience in this home for the past 3 summers and hope to return.

Owner's Response: Sarah and her family are one of my favorite repeat guests. So friendly and understanding of the special efforts I make to help them enjoy their stay.

Guests like these are the reason I continue to enjoy making the extra efforts like setting up the volleyball net, which I now know they enjoy each year, or leaving the bird feeders filled, providing bicycles, beach chairs, tiki-torches etc.

Plans are currently in the works for an outdoor shower, the drainage for which has already been plumbed. I hope to have that complete for next year for the increased ease of use of all of my summer guests.

Beautiful East Hampton Home for Summer Vacation

  • 5 of 5
We absolutely loved our stay at Sean’s house. His house is so nicely decorated and offers so many nice amenities. It is a huge house with so many different sleeping options, which are all very nice to choose from. His swimming pool is beautiful, clean, refreshing and very relaxing. We loved hanging out by his pool! His house is perfectly located near everything in the small town of East Hampton. We loved walking with our pet bulldog to get coffee across the street each morning; we even ran into some celebrities a few times there and in nearby Sag Harbor which is always exciting. Our favorite time during our stay at Sean’s house was enjoying each others’ company while eating dinner (which we grilled in the backyard as well as cooked inside- it was quite a feast) outside by the lit tiki torches and graceful fireflies that lit up his entire backyard and pool; it looked like a storybook or movie set. Simply beautiful!! Sean definitely takes wonderful care of his home and his guests, and we greatly appreciated all the wonderful hospitality! We would of course definitely stay again! Thanks for a great time and all your excellent suggestions, which definitely ensured a fabulous vacation for us all!!

Owner's Response: Leo, his family and guests, representing 3 generations, were a warm and welcoming group who came to this house to celebrate their Thanksgiving and Hanukkah holidays together.

It took some additional preparations to make my house Kosher-ready to accommodate the needs of this group, but we were able to coordinate our schedules so that there were a few hours for us to spend together so I could have the oven properly prepped for use and to put away some of my appliances that they would not be using.
