The sweet casitas of Nah Uxibal sit on a sandy white beach at the edge of beautiful Soliman Bay. Soliman is a large, pristine bay of stunning beauty both above and below the surface. A wide range of tropical fishes and corals grace the waters while the reef that runs between the points protects and provides shelter from the open sea.
Snorkeling and swimming are at it's best here, just outside your door. For those who enjoy diving a bit deeper, nearby dive shops will provide all you need to explore the second largest reef in the world which runs along this coast. The underwater world here is absolutely spectacular, as well as the beaches, cenotes (underwater caves), unique wildlife and jungles of the Yucatan.
The Mayan Ruins of Tulum and Coba are both nearby, while a trip to the Ancient city of Chichen Itza and back is easily done in a day. The large town of Playa del Carmen where you can catch the ferry to the island of Cozumel, is just 25 min. north.
The accomodations are simple yet well built and tastefully decorated. Both casitas are identical with an open, airy floor plan. Casita IK (Mayan for wind) has a open view of the ocean while Casita HA (Mayan for water) sits behind the wild grape and has more privacy with a view of the water through the trees. Solid mahogany windows allow you to control the amount of breeze and privacy you would like. Round tiled decks face the ocean to enjoy a sunrise or to relax and have a drink.
Just inside is a fully equipped kitchen with polished granite countertops and bar. On the opposite side is a round teakwood table that seats four. Separated from the kitchen by a half wall and two steps up is the sleeping area. The king size mattress is of high quality and comfortable. A ceiling fan sits above the bed, the dinning table and in the kitchen area, for extra cooling. The bathroom is covered in colorful talavera tiles, and through another door is the large open air shower, don't worry, only the plants can see you.
Drinking water is provided and linens are changed every three days.
Javier and Victoria are on site and will do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. Your casita will be cleaned for you six days a week, Monday through Saturday morning.
For dining out you can walk to Oscar y Lalos, just down the road, or go to one of Tulums many fine restaurants. Grocery shopping is easy at the new San Fransico Market where they have all you need and more.
We, the owners of Nah Uxibal,(Mayan for house of good energy) are proud to share our "Dream come true". We know that you will fall in love with this place just as we did, long ago. We also think that you, like us, will want to return again and again.
Now we have one last suggestion. The most important thing to do here is to relax. Breathe deeply, walk the beach, feel the breeze in your hair and the sand between your toes, rock in the hammock,
watch the sunrise and let the magic of the Yucatan take you over. Enjoy!
