Tropical Paradise

  • 5 of 5
WOW!!!! What a spectacular tropical paradise! The Treehouse II exceeded all of our expectations in every way. We so enjoyed waking up to the most spectacular view of the Pitons, glorius sunsets, and the natural beauty of this tropical paradise. The Treehouse II is an open living villa in a gorgeous natural setting. Its called the TREEHOUSE for a reason! I was a bit worried about the open air environment ( not too crazy about bugs and critters ), but it proved to be one of my favorite features of the villa. Didn't see bugs, mosquitos or critters. We throughly enjoyed the many different species of birds that call the lush foliage surrounding the Treehouse their home. They enjoyed being fed bananas, while we enjoyed their singing in return.

The Treehouse II is located in the most perfect area. It is a short hike to the black sand beaches of Anse Chastenet. The resort at Anse Chastenet offered relaxation, snorkeling, scuba diving, and fantastic food and drinks. The local Mojito was really yummy! The Treehouse II is also a short walk to the city of Soufriere, where you will conviently find the grocery store, produce markets, and the ATM. After a short driver from the Treehouse II, we found ourselves ZIPPING through the rain forest, hiking to a waterfall and enjoying the local Botanical Garden.

One of my favorite things from the trip was meeting Sam, Charmaine, Benton, and many other staff members. The trip would not have been the same without the graciousness of each one. Sam was beyond helpful in all aspects of our trip planning. He helped us make arrangements for activities, taxis, and water excursions. Charmaine was incredibly attentive to all of our needs. We were greeted our first night at the Treehouse II with a fabulous home cooked St. Lucian meal. I will have to say it was the BEST meal of the entire trip!

Thank you to all who made our trip very special!!! We cant wait to return to the Treehouse II.

"Paradise found at Treehouse II"

"Paradise found at Treehouse II"
  • 5 of 5
My husband and I just returned from the most unforgettable week long stay at Treehouse II. It was our 25th wedding anniversary and having traveled to many islands in the Caribbean in our 25 years together, were looking for something really special and St. Lucia has been on the "bucket list" for years. We read the reviews and I spoke with Sam, and his Treehouse II sounded like just what we were looking for. Wow! I have to say it greatly exceeded our expectations in every way. (Our expectations were pretty high) Treehouse II is snuggled amongst lush tropical foliage and is situated literally above the treetops. Forget all the restaurants who claim they have the best sunset, YOU have the best sunset from your private balcony overlooking the Pitons and the Caribbean Sea!
The staff, especially Charmaine, whom we'd felt like we knew already from other reviews and Clauvie our cab driver we're warm and welcoming and were able to give us great tips. For example go do the attractions such as volcano, waterfalls, mineral springs etc. before 10 AM or 3PM, to avoid crowds from cruise tours. Truly, we had these places all to ourselves when we took this advise. Charmaine even brought us real Nutmeg nuts to crack and grate into our rum punch! Who new nutmeg was an actual nut! The snorkeling is fabulous! We snorkeled everyday at several beaches. We were lucky to see turtles, lobsters, a morey eel and thousands of beautiful fish and coral formations.
We did rent a car after the first day, only to give ourselves a bit more freedom, and the cab fares to various places are a bit expensive. The local car rental that Sam recommend will deliver a car right to the villa and pick it up also. I don't recommend renting a car for everyone, but it worked well for us. Driving in St. Lucia wasn't as bad as driving on other islands we've visited. Also FYI ladies, the jewelry shops are in Castries which is an hour away. We also dined out every night and enjoyed many of the local restaurants, with Hummingbird and Orlando's being probably our two favorites.
Treehouse II is paradise on earth and for those just wanting to relax at the villa you will be just as content. The birds (they love banana's) the four property cats and other critters will keep you quite entertained if you choose to stay close to the property. The tree frogs and crickets will lull you to sleep at night. It is truly everything fabulous, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!

Perfect Tropical Treehouse

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I have visited St. Lucia for the past 3 years, and of all the places we've stayed, the Treehouse II stands out as the very best.

Not only do you have a million-dollar view of the pitons, you also have a fully-equipped home with everything you could possibly need and more! Sam and his wonderful staff have thought of everything to make a stay special. The gardens are gorgeously landscaped, there is a private pool to cool off in, and a stellar grill. Your private deck shows off the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets of St Lucia in all her glory. The fully equipped kitchen is fantastic for the days you want to dine in. The rooms are comfortably furnished, with doors leading to the deck from both the living room and bedroom. If you feel the need to touch base with home, there is wifi available.

The house features a staff of some of the kindest people you'll meet on St. Lucia.
Charmaine and Cynthia will greet you with not only a big smile, but with a home cooked St. Lucian meal. Charmaine is an excellent cook and kindly shared some beloved recipes. Terry aka "The Coffee Guy" visits in the mornings and can bring you anything to eat your heart desires, fish, fruit, bread, coffee, he brings the best of St; Lucia right to the house! Alvin and John make the grounds look beautiful, they keep the wild birds happy, and have some great snorkeling tips as well. Where else can you rent a private hideaway that comes with friends built in?

Of course you'll want to explore beautiful St. Lucia, and Sam has supplied a pretty comprehensive guide for favorite places to eat, visit, and how to get there. Anse Chastenet beach is a quick trip down the road, as well as the town of Soufriere, where you can find provisions, entertainment, and a good public beach. No car? no problem. Sam's notebook has recommendations for the best taxi drivers. We rent a car and drive around quite a bit and the location of the Treehouse II makes it a great home base.

if you are there on a rare rainy day, no worries! There is a giant selection of music and movies, books, and other fun things for a day indoors.

We are already planning our next visit to St. Lucia and the Treehouse in 2013.

25th wedding anniversary

  • 5 of 5
My husband & I discovered St Lucia after watching a "10 Top Carribbean beaches" show on tv. We immediately started researching where to stay and we found Sam (owner) and Treehouse II. We have never been out of the US before and when planning our vacation we knew we wanted to "experience the local life" and had to stay at least 2 weeks and that is exactly what we got. We feel SO blessed to stay at the Treehouse II and to enjoy such luxurious simple pleasures like waking up every day to the view of the Pitons, the glorious sunsets, the truly twinkling stars filling the night sky, the sound of the tree frogs putting us to sleep at night and the lovely local people! We truly made friends during our stay & have already booked our vacation for 2012. The house manager, Cynthia, greeted us upon our arrival with a "carryout" Creole order for my husband & I and after a 14 hour day with very little to eat we literally feel like that was the "best meal we've ever had"!!! The Treehouse II is in an awesome location: we walked down to the beach to go snorkeling, catch a water taxi, lay on the beach, eat breakfast, have evening drinks at the bar or meet the boat to go deep sea fishing. We also walked into downtown Soufriere to buy groceries, mingle and see the sights, go to the local beach party at Hummingbird beach, have breakfast at Archies & Hummingbird resort but would catch a taxi ride back up the hill for a few bucks. Believe me you need the taxi ride back up from town especially if you're carrying groceries! We went zip lining in Dennery, went to the Botanical Gardens, drive-in volcano and to Sulphur Springs. We went to Marigot Bay and had lunch at Doolittle's--great food! Went to Rodney Bay and had a wonderful time at the bar on the boardwalk-great happy hour from 5-6 pm. We ate at Hotel Chocolat in Soufriere (MUST GO!!) and also at Big Chef Steakhouse in Rodney Bay. We saved some things "to do" for our return trip in 2012 like: tour the rum distillery & ride horses & will spend more time exploring Castries & Rodney Bay. Went to both the Anse la Raye & Gros Islet fish frys....must do while there!!! We were thoughtfully taken care of by Cynthia, John, Charmaigne & Alvin. The Treehouse II is the perfect size, wonderfully decorated & totally secluded & private. Very romantic~! You won't want to miss staying here!

Breath-taking Mountain Villa in St. Lucia

  • 5 of 5
My husband & I were married at a Sandals in northern St. Lucia in 2010. Our stay was only 1 week. That meant we could only skim the surface of the culture because the drive was so long to places we wanted to visit around Soufriere. We loved St. Lucia & were eager to return. Treehouse II provided the perfect location to spend more time at the Botanical Gardens & the Rain Forest--high on our list of things to do. We wanted to visit areas which most tourists don't see: the little-known east coast, small mountain villages, the west coast by water taxi. Treehouse II was the perfect point from which to travel. We wanted to know the "Real People" of St. Lucia. This was easier to do BECAUSE SAM (owner/builder) has developed wonderful relationships with the nationals in his approx. 10 years of coming to the island. Sam has compiled a notebook with sites all over the island & entry prices, restaurants & menus, diving & hiking locations. BEST OF ALL, he has negotiated FIXED land taxi fees. This way you aren't haggled to death by strangers about fares which may or may not be fair. Better yet, you can build friendships w/ locals whom you see more than once. Plus, it is more comfortable to be chauffered over bumpy, curvy roads, through strange traffic patterns, while drinking a Piton beer in the back seat. (One of Benton's Taxi drivers, Eli, has a Toyota Saloon--heavy car, good shocks; very sweet young man.) We loved our water taxi tour to Marigot Bay w/ "Daisy" at Moby Dick--even w/ the rain that day! He was such an interesting guy & our lunch was fantastic at Doolittle's. You'll probably meet dolphins in route or see whales.

We could have almost never left the Treehouse any day. Breath taking vista from the covered porch! We left the living room doors open day & night. The foliage provides complete privacy while focusing on the Pitons and the sea! The local birds come right up on the railings. Treehouse II was just finished last year. Brand new furnishings. The bedroom & bathroom are very roomy & and can be closed off & cool nicely w/ the wall A/C unit. The housekeeper, Cynthia, cooked us a local fish dinner. She checked on us daily. Cynthia arranged delivery by a local artisan of some pottery we liked at the Treehouse. Sam checked w/ us by email & called Cynthia daily to make sure we were totally happy w/ our stay. There is an extensive DVD collection, local phone, and WiFi. We highly recommend this combination of mountain/seaside paradise. Take more than 1 week!
