Deer Meadow provides plenty of area to spread out, both inside and out. The house sits on a very large lot, including the extra open area next door and when the backyard ends the meadow behind begins. There are several fruit trees and a grapevine in the backyard and if you keep your eye out you will more than likely see the deer that frequently stop by for a visit.
Great Base for Mid-Season.
Grouse & Woodcock
Sugar Shack has a decent selection of bourbons, ok donuts and Vintage doritos. Who could ask for more?
To the Three Sisters we say "Thanks".
Every year my brother and I golf in a memorial golf outing at Sugar Springs for my cousin who passed away years ago. We usually stay in a hotel but this year we decided to rent a cottage for the weekend. We came across Deer Meadow and the price seemed reasonable, etc. so we rented it. We weren't around much as we spent all of Saturday and Sunday at the course, but we ate breakfast there once and came home at night to play cards, etc. Overall the experience was pleasurable. The only item that was missing was Cable TV/ Internet. We had my 20 year old son and 24 year old son in law along and of course they're cable/internet junkies. Not a huge deal...beds were nice, bathroom and shower nice, kitchen and living area nice. Basement was nice but we really didn't use it. Too bad because if was fixed up nice. Thanks Dan Van Houzen
Deer meadow is exactly what we had hoped it would be - a place away from it all but not too secluded. Although there is a neighbor next door, they were friendly. The house has all of the conveniences you would want (from heat to a/c to a fully stocked kitchen including utensils, pots/pans/ spices, microwave, coffee pot, etc.). They leave you "starter amounts" for most things (dish soap, coffee, sugar, cream, hand soap, tissues, toilet paper. I would recommend doing your grocery shopping before you arrive as the only place close by to get milk/bread/eggs is the Sugar Shack which, of course, is a lot more expensive than the Walmart. The Shack also has dvd's for rent, which is convenient and came in handy on a rainy day. A positive note in my opinion was that we didn't have internet (good change of pace for the kids to put away the electronic devices and hang together as a family). Our deposit was refunded quickly and the owners were a pleasure to do business with - even while we were there - they got back to us right away to answer any questions. Our "home away from home" was a very relaxing change from living in the city and was a nice getaway. Would recommend driving to the Islander's Way beach over the one on King's Way just because it is nicer (and the fishing is a little better there too). Thank you to Sue and Lin for the nice goodie basket on arrival. Made us feel special and very welcome. I would rent fromt he Three Sisters again!
