Marie purchased this studio in 1977
I fell in love with the area and the apartment in 1977.
It was for me a dream come true, it had everything I love.
It was perfectly situated, in a busy area which is great but the apartment is nevertheless very quiet.
The 2 balconies are perfect to enjoy sunsets and sunrises, for a drink or just sit outside after your day out.
It is so romantic at sunset and so incredibly Parisian chic. I love to walk in Paris and it is within walking distance of everything anyone loves about Paris like the Champs Elysees, the Opera house, famous concert halls, restaurants and shows.
Shopping is great too at the Printemps and Galeries Lafayette right on Haussmann Bd, only minutes away down the street.
Being close to the American Embassy and the French Presidential Palace, the area is very safe.
The unique benefits are better described by my guests:
'We're giving Marie and Pascal five stars only because it won't let us give them six. The apartment is beautiful, on one of the prettiest streets in Paris, within walking distance to just about everything you want to see in the City of Light. And the customer service was incredible. They answered all our questions before we arrived, met us at the airport and escorted us to the property. We opted for the walking tours with Marie and she showed us all over the beautiful city and offered some great tips - like the secret entrance to the Louvre where you don't have to stand in line. She knows Paris and is happy to share her knowledge and enthusiasm. She even gave us a cell phone that we could use to call if we had any questions or problems. We truly cannot imagine a better experience ...'
Thank you Robert from Charleston, North Carolina to describe so well the unique benefits of Haussmann.
My husband and I just returned from our trip to Paris. From start to finish our vacation was wonderful thanks to Marie and Pascal who own and rent their apartment on 85 Haussmann in Paris. The apartment is conveniently located near the bus and Metro. When we arrived, Pascal met us at the airport and accompanied us by bus to the apartment which is in a safe, beautiful area. Marie met us there and gave us a tour of the apartment which was small but clean and modern and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. Marie offers day trips to all the sights around Paris and if you rent the apartment, you can take some or all of them with her. She has a passion for Paris and vast knowledge about its history. Not knowing the language, we chose to tour with her most of our days there. Each day was a new adventure and as we walked the streets, we felt like we were Marie's friends and not tourists. Pascal joined us on the the night tour by driving to all of the famous illuminated landmarks where we were able to take pictures and admire the romantic scenery. We also took a day tour of the Champagne area where Pascal drove and Marie explained everything about the region. Both the Champagne area and Reims were very beautiful and interesting. The restaurant they chose for lunch was perfect and the food was delicious. Every restaurant Marie chose or suggested was reasonably priced and because I am a vegetarian, she made sure they offered choices for me. Even though Marie and Pascal had to leave Paris because of a last minute family situation, they left us in the competent hands of a friend of the family. Their friend Laetitia took us to Versailles on the train and was a wealth of information about the area. She made sure that our trip was perfect from beginning to end and sought to cater to our every need. It was fun spending the day with her and learning all of the exciting facts about Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI! Laetitia also helped us reschedule a boat cruise that we missed and made sure that we were able to enjoy it on our final night in Paris. The day that we had to depart for home, Laetitia came to the apartment and accompanied us to the bus to the airport. She made sure we got the tickets we needed and that we were on the bus on time for our flight. We are so happy to have met this lovely family and their friend. They went above and beyond our expectations to make this a trip of a lifetime!
When your hosts are there to greet you at the train station on arrival to Paris, you know you've found something special. Marie and Pascal make it a point to meet all the renters of their lovely apartment either at the train station or the airport. This ensures that you find your way safely and efficiently and also gives you a first introduction to Paris, your hosts, and your new temporary home and neighborhood. They go an extra step to provide you with a cell phone for us throughout the visit. Whether to coordinate meeting Marie after Pascal picks you up at the airport or simply to touch base with questions during the stay, the cell is yours to use as needed.
We were fortunate to have a wonderful week in the studio apartment fulfilling our goal of spending a short time living as Parisians. While the apartment is small, it feels roomy because of the carefully planned layout and the use of mirrors. Marie has thought of everything and when a need arose (extra trash sacks, grocery bags, etc), we simply looked around confident that Marie had it there. We were never disappointed. WiFi, cable TV, electrical adapters, robes, all included. The ability to wash clothes and a dishwasher available, plus a phone with free calling to the the US were among the many thoughtful amenities. As Marie described, she wants her guest to experience the conveniences that she herself enjoys when she travels. She was 100% successful.
The bathroom included the luxury of towel warmers. The shower had great pressure and warm water always available. There is ample closet space and hangers. The kitchen lacked for nothing and all appliances worked perfectly. We loved the two balconies even during our January visit that allowed us morning and evening views of the boulevard.
We love the 8th Arrondissement neighborhood near Gare St Lazare. It is elegant, safe, and very convenient to shopping including the grand magasins. We found Marie's Practical Tour to be a wonderful introduction to the area and Paris.
We could not have been happier with our week. Coming home in the evenings to the stately door on Haussmann, entering the carriage way, the marble foyer, the elegant elevator, and then living in the comfortable and perfectly planned apartment all contributed to achieving our dream visit. We are confident that any and all who rent this apartment will enjoy the amenities and the extraordinary care provided by Marie and Pascal. We are looking forward to our next visit.
All of the other reviews cover the many wonderful things about the location, amenities and hospitality of the owners of this lovely apartment so I won't repeat them. Yes, it is very small. If you sleep on the left side of the bed you step into the bathroom when you get up but is that necessarily a bad thing? :-) Other than that it is perfect! It's clean, bright, well stocked, perfectly located and in an extremely secure building. Marie and Pascal go out of their way to make you feel welcome and can provide the true Parisian experience for you. Take advantage of all they have to offer. They can show you the parts of Paris that most tourists miss. My travel companion had a family emergency and couldn't join me on this trip. I only wish I had someone with me to share such a wonderful experience. Thank goodness for Marie!! She was such a delight to spend time with and I feel I've made a friend for life. I hope to return and bring someone with me to experience this great place and these wonderful people.
After spending countless hours searching rentals in Paris, Marie and Pascal's apartment stood out among the rest. Our expectations were definitely met with our stay in this efficient apartment in a beautiful building. Every square centimeter is put to excellent use in this apartment, which had everything we needed. I especially enjoyed the many fluffy towels and the bath robes-what a treat! Marie ensured everything was stocked so we could start our visit without having to immediately worry about buying shampoo, soap, or other basic necessities. The apartment was spotless. Having a non-smoking apartment is very important to us and we appreciated that there was no indication the apartment had ever been smoked in.
As everyone notes, the hospitality of Marie and Pascal is incredible. It may seem like a small thing- but being greeted at the airport is a fabulous perk. Marie then escorted us from the bus stop to the apartment, where she thoroughly oriented us to all the appliances and features. One thing I am embarrassed to admit I did not know- when looking at the shower, the left handle turns on the water pressure, and the right handle adjusts the temperature. The shower has excellent pressure and the water temperature was adjustable to nice and hot.
We did not need the heat while we were there (though there is a heating unit with in room controls). We opened and closed the windows as needed to adjust the temperature of the apartment. Although on a busy street (with great views as pictured), the high quality windows when closed kept out the noise well.
It is very easy to navigate around Paris from the apartment. Whether you prefer to walk, travel by bus, or use metro- you can get everywhere easily. All of Paris felt very safe to us, but the apartment itself was extremely safe with an entrance code to the building and an additional locked door before the apartment.
The Monoprix across the street was very handy for picking up nearly anything needed at a good price. The market street Marie provided directions to at Rue de Levis was excellent. We picked up an incredible ham and gruyere sandwich there, which we enjoyed later in the day on one occasion.
I am happy to be contacted by email (just ask Marie for my address) if anyone has any questions about the experience of being a guest in this lovely apartment.
Located near all major attractions and / or buses and Metro locations can't be beat. Engage Marie in one of her guided tours to really get the most out of your Paris stay. She knows everything and can help you save a lot of money getting to attractions etc. We had a great time!!!
This was our second visit to Paris. We have stayed at Marie and Pascal's both times. On our first visit we stayed there for three weeks and were so pleased we chose it again. The apartment is as described and has everything you could possibly need or want. The apartment is clean, very bright and we enjoyed using our deck. The location is perfect for walking everywhere in Paris, in addition it is well located for transportation, metro, RR and bus. Market is close and has all the staples one might need. This review would not be complete if we did not comment on the WONDERFUL hospitality of Marie and Pascal. Even though we had been there before Pascal welcomed us at the airport, and they escorted us to our rendezvous point in the city for the next part of our vacation. They welcome any questions, and are available if needed for anything. They love Paris and do anything they can to ensure that you have the information, support, maps etc to do the same. We will be back and stay again! Thank you Marie and Pascal.
