My husband, daughter, and I love this area and this house with a passion which is why we called it Fontana Passion Lake Lodge. We love the peaceful 12,000 acre lake with 240 miles of shoreline which provides numerous opportunities for the outdoor sportsperson. We personally love to waterski, kneeboad, and kayak.
My husband is a physical therapist and I am in medical sales.
We hope you love this house and area as much as we do and come back often to relax, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and reenergize.
owner/property manager purchased this lodge in 2011
We have been going to this area for over 30 years and always wanted to own property there. Since 85% of property on Fontana Lake is owned by the forest service (accounts for the minimal boat traffic, unspoiled, and peaceful area )we were fortunate to find this property for sale and made our dream come true. We love the close proximity to Asheville, mountain biking, rafting, tubing at Bryson City, casinos at Cherokee, and breathtaking mountain views.
Directly on the lake with immediate water access and private boat dock with slide. Secluded area with minimal homes and boat traffic on lake to enjoy the scenery.
"I want to let you know what a wonderful time my entire family had at the lake and the lake house made it a special time for all of us. The house is absolutely gorgeous, with lovely decorations and amenities. All of the beds were very comfortable. The downstairs ice maker was a great idea as well as all of the entertainment items."
Had a wonderful time last week...the cabin was spectacular, and it was apparent you thought of everything your renters could possibly need....from firewood to kitchen and bathroom supplies; recent movies and video games; awesome firepit, gas grill, and deck furniture, etc. etc, etc....
Fall mountain views were magnificent....got some great fishing in as well (an outing with Fontana Guides highly recommended)...the pontoon boat and kayaks were a welcome addition. Took a couple nice hikes on the Appalachian Trail (which crosses right over the dam) and enjoyed several "movie nights" in the incredible home theater.
Appreciate the opportunity to get away for a week with the family; we will certainly keep the Fontana Passion Lake Lodge in mind for future vacations!
With family scattered across SC, NC, VA, GA, AL, and TN, this was the perfect gathering place to celebrate our Mother's 80th birthday. The house had everything we needed. Especially enjoyed the wood-burning fireplace and outdoor fire pit with firewood included.
Positives: the cabin was as nice as advertised, mostly new feel throughout. The setting was very relaxing and worth the bumpy roads to get there. Theater room is an excellent 'extra' that you don't expect in a mountain cabin rental. Negatives: the water was already drawn down for the Fall and virtually inaccessible via the house dock. Also a bit disappointing to be expected to haul trash while on vacation or otherwise pay a higher cleaning fee (which was already high for a weekend stay). Overall, we really enjoyed the cabin and would definitely consider staying again next year.

We had a wonderful 50th Anniversary celebration with our family of 14 at Fontana Passion Lake Lodge. We all agreed it was the most relaxing and fun vacation we have had. The cabin is beautiful and extremely well furnished and equipped. Our family gave us a surprise party and everything they needed to entertain was right there.
Our 6 grandchildren (ages 7-15) loved being right on the lake and they spent hours from dawn to dusk fishing, kayaking and tubing. Having the well equipped floating dock for our boat was wonderful. The setting is so peaceful and there was very little boat traffic.
The evening found everyone either watching a movie in the great little theatre, roasting marshmallows over the campfire or soaking in the hot tub. We never heard the children say they were bored and by the end of the day they were worn out and ready for bed. On the last day they did not want to leave and even wanted us to ask Gaylene if we could buy the lodge. Wish we could!
Our 3-generation family had a fabulous week in Gaylene's home on Fontana Lake. Each room is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The fully stocked kitchen made cooking easy and fun. The movie theater, hot tub, and boating equipment provided lots of daily relaxation and enjoyment. Couldn't have asked for anything more!!
I booked this place 1 1/2 years in advance so needless to say...we were anxious to get there. It did not disappoint. We went with our kids and their kids and had such a wonderful time together, sharing the simplest of things. There was nothing it lacked except a ski boat and although we looked forward to taking advantage of all that it offered, a week was too short. I never even got to open a book as we were always on the go. We even got to share it with our dog who is very old. I don't know how you can stay away Gaylene and rent it out, but I sure am glad that you do. You have a tremendous knack for detail and every inch of your home showed it. As a side note, I would recommend the horseback riding by Fontana Marina for a beautiful trailride. Thanks for the memories as they say and we hope to come up again.
