We purchased this property as a quick escape from NYC. Since it is under 2 hours from Manhattan, we do not feel as though we are spending half the weekend traveling to the country. While this property feels remote once on location, it is very close to all Hudson has to offer: shopping, live music, food, farmer's market, and theater. Withing 15 minutes of 111 Miller Road, there are no less than 12 outstanding restaurants. That said, we spend most of our time buying ingredients from local farmers and making our own meals.
Outdoor activities surround 111 Miller Road: fishing, boating, hiking, are all witihin a 5-10 minute drive if not on the property itself...
My wife, myself and our boxer Jesse spent the month of August @ this beautifull location. The main house is not large, but comfortable & cozy. House size did not matter much as we spent all of our time on the deck with a breathtaking view of Gods creation. Hiking the grounds every day, loved following the stream that wraps the property. Deer, wild turkey chipmunks, has it all ! DO NOT rent in August (we want it every year !!!)
We spent the most wonderful long weekend at Warren's house upstate, very close to Hudson. The property, which comprises three separate buildings, was beautifully done, and incredibly comfortable. The grounds are also landscaped, with a lot of grass, and a delight for children to run around. Warren was also super nice to speak to, which made the stay even better. Was always available when we had questions and made sure the house was fully equipped and spotless when we arrived. We had a 7 week old and a 20 month old with us and chose to sleep in the converted guest house as we would all be on the same level with no stairs. There is a kitchenette, in addition to the bedroom/bathroom, which was perfect for us. The main house has a big kitchen (which you wouldn't know from the pictures), and a sunny dinning room and living room. There is also a bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Because of the set up, it is great for families with children but also friends as the house effectively doubles as two. The third building houses a library/bedroom but no bath. We would definitely go back - it was a great stay.
My mom and I stayed at the Miller Road Stone House for our annual mother/daughter vacation. The house, with guest houses was more space than the two of us needed but we really enjoyed the sprawling property and it was perfect for my dog who had the time of her life on her first vacation with me.
The listing description was accurate, I think the house and property were better than the pictures depicted, they had everything we needed with nice extra touches of comfort and the owners were helpful in answering our questions leading up to our visit and sending us an email to make sure we settled in alright.
The house is unassuming from the front but opens up quite a bit at the back, is clean, very charming in its details, has a beautiful spacious deck with hot tub in the back and had everything we needed for our stay. While we did not use them, the guest houses looked quaint and comfortable and one looked to have been newly remodeled with nice finishings. The combination of the house and guest houses would be great for families or a group of friends to get together for a long weekend or week. The little touches (large deck, adirondack chairs, grill, hot tub, hammock, fire pit w/ wood pile, tiki torches, tree swing, etc.) the owners put into the house and property were excellent and made for fun and relaxing times. The property itself is large, beautifully maintained and quiet with a nice little creek running around it that you could hear from the bedroom window in the main house and on the deck. There were lots of deer and a short trail leading off the back of the property which led to beautiful sprawling views of the surrounding area. There was plenty of space for my dog to relax in the sun and shade, run and play frisbee without being near the road, without immediate neighbors or other dogs to worry about and without being out of view.
Because the house and property was so nice & comfortable we spent much of our time there. It is however very conveniently located for outings and is just a short drive to the center of the town of Hudson, flea markets, farm stands, hiking, etc. I hope to be able to stay here again sometime with friends or family and would definitely recommend it as a great place to stay in the Hudson area.
A group of 6 of us stayed here during Presidents Day weekend. We had such a great time and would definitely rent this place again!! It is great for a group of friends or couples, because there are 3 separate living spaces. We went skiing at Catamount and Butternut during the day. Coming back to the huge hot tub afterwards was fantastic! And the owner is great to work with! Would highly recommend this place!!!
My husband and I loved our brief stay here in the winter! It was very snowy so we mostly stayed in the main house and built fires. The place is small but really cute and well appointed, with a great king bed upstairs. The hottub is nice and only steps from the back door. The kitchen also has a lot of supplies which made staying in and cooking really easy. It's also only a 15 minute drive from downtown Hudson where we went out to some fabulous meals. There's a heater in pretty much every room so easy to stay warm in the winter. Everything is adorable and comfortable--ideal for two couples who want some privacy, or a girls' getaway, or similar. The main house is definitely the ideal place to sleep. Then the further one (the guest house) which is across the property but has its own woodstove and bathroom with tub and is super cozy. The snow does make it a little less thrilling if you are staying in the "library house"--it's cozy but does not have a bathroom. It's very close to the main house but still, if you are like me, you may not want to run out in the snow in the middle of the night in your pajamas to use the bathroom in the main house. Also the main house has one shower which is upstairs off the bedroom. Just some logistics to be aware of if you're going with a group, especially in winter. Overall we had a really great time--perfect for a relaxing getaway with a trip or two into town for fine dining. I imagine it's even more fun in the summer when you can enjoy the big lawn as well.
