About Nicole Pulliam

Married with four children and now our first grandchild, we lived about thirty minutes from one another through high school, but never met. After his first two years in the Marine Corps my husband and I met at my house through a mutual friend of my brothers. Married in 1989, my husband was stationed on the local Marine Base in Twentynine Palms. We fell in love with the area and when his time in the Corps came to an end, after the Gulf War, we made the area our home.

Nicole Pulliam purchased this house in 2012

Why Nicole Pulliam chose Yucca Valley

This property was chosen for its location to big city life of Palm Springs and small town living of the Morongo Basin... My husband and I wanted to raise our children away from the fast paced lifestyle of big city life while keeping ourselves a hop, skip, and jump away from it. The Morongo Basin offers the home town feel while being centrally located to Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and alike. The best of both worlds with the beauty of the desert landscape. Joshua Tree National Park gives us a great outside adventure only minutes away.

Great getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Great place - comfortable beds, appealing decor, uncluttered, and very well appointed. We made serious use of the kitchen and it performed splendidly. Close proximity to Joshua Tree -- we went to Hidden Valley; and close to Pappy & Harriett's. Learned, however, that you should reserve at Pappy & Harriett's about three weeks in advance, so check their band selections, and make your reservations there right after making reservations here. Nice little walk to fun shops, a wine tasting room, and a great coffee shop (Ma Rouge -- get the quiche). Thanks so much!

Fantastic!

Sparkling clean house, very attractive interior, in great condition with a lot of lovely amenities. Nicole is a wonderfully helpful host, and she was very careful to make sure that we had everything we needed. We had a great short stay, and next time we will stay longer so that we can make use of the grill and firepit as well. We have already recommended the house to my in-laws.

A Great Place in Yucca Valley

  • 5 of 5

Nicole is a great host and called me from Alaska (where she was on holiday) to make sure all was good. Her place was perfect for my visit to family in Yucca Valley. Just a couple of blocks walk to Ma Rouge, a great coffee shop and right next door to the road to Pioneer Town. Every morning I stepped outside and walked a couple of miles into the hills and away from town.

Her place is comfortable and had all the conveniences I was looking for with the added surprise of the hot tub. I enjoyed breakfast right outside the front door where a big tree shaded the morning sun.

We'll defintely be staying there on our next visit to the high desert

Great House Great Owner Great Park

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed here during part of her college spring break. We had a great time at the house and in the area.

Everything seemed new inside and was very clean. The beds and couches / chairs were very comfortable. The kitchen and appliances were also nice. We cooked two dinners and all our breakfasts and it was easy. The HD TV was nice and large, perfect for some March Madness games. The wifi was also excellent, very fast and reliable.

Nicole provides a single serve coffee machine with lots of coffee, a particularly nice convenience if you want to get an early start for hikes in the National Park. She's a great owner and easy to deal with - always willing to answer a question about the house or the area.

The hot tub was a perfect place to recover from a long day of hikes. It was easily accessible from one of the bedrooms and nicely screened and private.

It would be hard to find a better deal for 2 to 4 people in the Joshua Tree area.

Having stayed in both Twentynine Palms and now Yucca Valley, I would say that I preferred Yucca Valley. There are some restaurants near the house with good ratings (we liked Gonzo Tacos) and easy access to various stores. You also save time if you are coming from either northern or southern CA. I enjoyed the access via the western entrance to the National Park. Plus you are minutes away from the Black Rock Canyon area if you want an early morning or sunset experience.

Don't miss the hikes to 49 Palms Oasis (nicely graded trail), or better yet, Lost Palms Oasis, if its open (longer but a better adventure). If you want to just wander among the rocks and washes, I would also recommend lightly visited Stirrup Tank, which a park ranger told us about. These are longer adventures, so I'd check with the rangers of course about what's best for you. The traditional short hikes and road side exhibits are also nice. Joshua Tree National Park is definitely a hidden gem and Coyote Retreat is a great place to visit it from.
